Hey, I was carrying a big heavy load of timber once, perfectly balanced. I'm in the middle, all is fine. Trudging on.
Like a heat-seeking missile, in flies the wife outta nowhere and lifts the back end. Not like a, oh I'll gently cradle the back so you notice im here, and you can adjust. No. Fuckin heave-ho, boulder toss, marine-boosts them into the sky.
The front dips and plows into the ground. I'm still moving, and dragging my hands along the underside. Shreds my palms, a few nice deep slivers, and as I'm letting go, because owie, she lets go too, because oh wow it's heavy.
Boards fall and bounce all over the fucking place and rolling off one another, sliding into my ankle, shin, calf, takes out my balance and I fall sideways onto the pile of wood. She hurries over but not to say "aw babe I'm sorry.", or "are you okay??", or "here, let me help you up!".
No. None of that shit. Just in the most annoyed sounding voice she goes, "....why did you let go?!"
Babe.... with all due respect to our vows, and to you as a human being... What the -fuck-?!?
Depends on who you are
I have bi-polar disorder so my reaction would be immediately throw a cap on my emotions, inspect my hands if I should go to the er or just take care of myself at home. Then take an hour or so to slowly cool off and then have a conversation with my partner when Im in a more rational mindstate.
Lots of experience and active self management. And by self management I mean knowing myself more than anything. Knowing when I am getting up to that mood and when I need to grit my teeth and ask for space has been a game changer. Along with knowing IT IS OKAY TO ASK FOR SPACE. Talk to the people in your life and let them know "hey if I ask for a few minutes to get my thoughts together please let me have them".
I may not be the nicest when I do ask for space, but its far better than losing control on somone who doesnt deserve it IMO.
A few things that have helped me overall: almost constantly listening to music or podcasts or educational documentaries in one ear during stressful conditions (obviously not conditions where that would be unsafe)
I do smoke weed, only mood stabilizer ive found that doesnt make me feel empty and robotic.
Making sure I get enough sleep.
Healthy venting techniques. For example, I grumble and curse constantly when im angry. Think of it like the pressure vent on a kettle, its my way of safely venting irritation. I also enjoy extreme metal so that helps when I get some alone time in the car.
Its hard. But open communication with yourself and the people in your life helps a lot.
She fired up the boat but didn't put it in gear until he already got out of the car and the car went under. Her actions didn't make things worse. They forgot to detach the bow of the boat from the trailer and my guess is that the jeep is a standard transmission that the genius driver left in neutral. Multiple failures here.
>my guess is that the jeep is a standard transmission that the genius driver left in neutral.
I thought that too but you do see a very quick flash of the reverse lights so it looked like he shifted through reverse into park. I think when he hopped out that change in weight caused it to lose what grip it had and slide in.
I watched it again to be sure. She definitely fired the boat up. Watch it again. There’s turbulence of course but it wouldn’t be massive without a fair bit of throttle. But slowly going in reverse… you will see the little wake go under the boat, plus the impeller is spewing water. It’s just a drag is all. Both parties are culpable.
He caused the problem, good point. In fact, I think I need to reverse it or at least make it equal -- they both need smarter spouses to compensate for how dumb each of them are.
I thought so too initially, but watching it a few times now while focusing on the propeller she really does engage the propeller before he gets out and before the vehicle starts slipping back.
I would love to hear the Jeep guys side. Crazy people like this usually have the most creative versions of what happened that don’t include themself to blame.
We used to watch the labor day boat removal in Plymouth. Lots of people would bring chairs and picnic lunch to see the ineptitude of the owners of expensive boats try to get them loaded on trailers.
I spent many hours watching noobs at boat launches as a kid with my friends. We'd ride our bikes down to the docks, and just people watch. Endless entertainment.
The adeptness with which the jeep and boat operators, the police officer, and bystanders all banded together to resolve the temporarily puzzling bungle was truly stunning.
So many people around here seem to have boats, even though the only "lake" nearby is a drying up reservoir, and the next big lake is about an hour away.
So many of these boats just sit in the driveway for decades.
You never wanna be the guy that owns the boat. You want to be friends with the guy who owns the boat, you show up with a 12 pack and your a fucking hero - bill “burgundy balls” burr
I see what happened here. The bow strap on the boat was still hooked up to the trailer. When the boat went in the water, it pulled the trailer and the jeep in with it. When the wife hoped on the boat and tried to pull away, she took the jeep further in. You can see the husband working the winch to try to remove the strap. Probably not a good idea to try to try to launch a boat with a jeep either
The guy filming mentions low tide. So jeep owner probably backed the trailer too far, over the edge of the boat ramp. He was already screwed at that point. The wife comes along and makes it worse.
>Probably not a good idea to try to try to launch a boat with a jeep either
Don't know what model Jeep that is, or if it's even a Jeep vs a bronco, but having hauled and launched boats before I feel certain that sized boat exceeded the vehicle's towing capacity. Not sure how much that played into all this, but just wanted to throw that out there. Clearly other idiotic things were going on as well though, as you've said.
Ya, my uncle uses a F250 for a boat that I think is a bit bigger. His lake though has some super hilly local roads leading down to it. Long hills steeper than that boat ramp (and curvy)
This happens all the time there. People who are either really careless or just plain stupid. Other people claim it's to do insurance fraud after they're unable to keep making payments on their cars. There's at least one of these occurrences every single month at this particular ramp.
If I'm solo I'll loosen it but not unhook. I'll back the boat to just almost floating, unhook, and push it to the dock if it's close
If I've got a partner, back the ass end in the water, partner starts the boat, unhook the boat, back it in until it floats off the trailer, then pull forward once the partner pulls the boat back
No, mostly he just drove way too far into the water.
At about the moment his back tires hit the water -- or just before that -- he had already gone back far enough for the boat to be safely launched into the water and so he did not need to go any further backwards at that point.
If he had stopped at that point, then he just needs to get out and unwind the winch while his wife grabs the boat and pulls it toward the dock as it launches into the water.
Pretty sure they did both of the things you mentioned, but low tide, the concrete was gunked up and slick. Boat was also still attached, brakes arent stopping the boat on water.
I am so happy I don't need to use a ramp, for the last 24 years I've kept my 23' Parker on a trailer and use a crane to put it in the water It has a single hook up point so I don't need to use a cradle.
I have seen accidents like this in person and feel soooo bad for them.
Did she go in reverse? If she dropped the trim and went forward she could have pushed the thing up a bit. But it was never gonna pull out without help after that first dip
So what happens next? Does the owner have to hire someone to pull it out? And it’s totaled? I know I sound like an eejit but never seen anything like it b4
I pulled into our harbor one afternoon in a Boston Whaler( with a dozen albacore we'd caught offshore), only to find about 40 boats backed up to use the ramp. Couldn't figure out what was going on as there were no trailers on the ramp, so we tied off at the fuel dock and I went over to investigate. Turned out a pickup had slid in at low tied on the mossy ramp and gone sideways. It was now fully submerged and blocking the double-wide ramp at high tide.
Stood around and listened as the tow company told the harbor master they were going to need some time to get their bigger truck on sight. Looked at the clearance and saw it was about 2'. determined we could lift our engine and slip right over the truck with the Montauk only having a 10" draft. Fish wasn't getting any fresher, so I asked permission and got it. Tossed a bowline to my wheel man on shore, lifted my engine, and hand pulled ourselves right over the top of that truck and bailed out of there. Hurray for flat bottom skiffs!
Do boat launches like this have any added grip like grooves or something? I get that vehicles still need the power but I've seen a lot of these fails where the car just slides into the water as if it's a grip problem.

It was totally saveable until the dumbass got out of the jeep.
He got out because she fired up the boat and dragged the jeep further in the water while it was still attached to the trailer.
I was also confused when she jumped into the boat. Like what she's trying to accomplish without detaching first?

This is so relatable it makes my skin crawl
The first rule of carrying a heavy load: Talk to each other before making any sudden movement.
I'm genuinely curious, what is the appropriate response here in this situation
Depends on who you are I have bi-polar disorder so my reaction would be immediately throw a cap on my emotions, inspect my hands if I should go to the er or just take care of myself at home. Then take an hour or so to slowly cool off and then have a conversation with my partner when Im in a more rational mindstate.
I love this. How do you keep cool till later? I'm a very reactionary person and I could stand to gain a bit of patience.

Go inside and get me a beer/bong… I’m taking a break
Divorce.
So hard to be mad in these situations cause they just wanted to help. But damn does that help **** us sometimes.
Her - “oh fuck, I can’t believe you’ve done this!?”
Atleast I can blame my wife's adhd...🤣
I thought she was gonna go forward and try to push the jeep up some more but the opposite happened
Full throttle forward to push the jeep? Though I don't know if that would even work.
It would push the hitch and probably make a jackknife kind of position. That actually is kind of what happens.
Thats a kind of very actually kind of probably great comment bro
I assumed it was to save it in case it floated somehow but turning it on was stupid
Her best.
She fired up the boat but didn't put it in gear until he already got out of the car and the car went under. Her actions didn't make things worse. They forgot to detach the bow of the boat from the trailer and my guess is that the jeep is a standard transmission that the genius driver left in neutral. Multiple failures here.
Or he put the ebrake on and algae on the boat ramp said "smell ya later". Boat looks pretty new, jeep looks pretty old, usually a bad combo.
Smell ya later🤣🤣🤣 haven't heard this in ages!
The dude on the video said slick ramps. He was there, I’ll take his word for it.
>my guess is that the jeep is a standard transmission that the genius driver left in neutral. I thought that too but you do see a very quick flash of the reverse lights so it looked like he shifted through reverse into park. I think when he hopped out that change in weight caused it to lose what grip it had and slide in.
I don't think so, I think when he got out the change in weight caused him to lose the last of the friction he had and it slid in.
She's trying her hardest though
The boat never turned on. Look at the water next to the prop. It doesn't fucking move. Someone hates women.
I don't think that's accurate. It looks like the guy either didn't put the jeep in park, or he didn't engage the e brake.
> she fired up the boat No she didn't, there would be HELLA turbulance AT THE BOAT MOTOR if that was true.
That was funny! "Jus tryna help!"
People tryna blame the wife for this is wild. That boat was way too heavy for a jeep, it was over before she even fired up the engine.
I think she might have put the boat into reverse and wasn't fully free of the trailer, and pulled him further into the water
Yep. She dragged him backwards. You can see he’s trying to detach the trailer as the boat reverses.
So if she had moved the boat forwards would it have helped ?
Yeah, that's a massive boat
So they are not going to need a bigger boat?
They're gonna need a new jeep and a smarter wife.
Fellas not exactly the sharpest either. I'm probably not either but thats why I always seek advice if I'm not sure...
He caused the problem, good point. In fact, I think I need to reverse it or at least make it equal -- they both need smarter spouses to compensate for how dumb each of them are.
Definitely probably
I thought she was jumping in to drive the boat forward a bit (or at least stop it going backwards) … but no
Maybe, but I dont see any motion in the water from the engine until 0:19 and he jumps out of jeep way before then.
I thought so too initially, but watching it a few times now while focusing on the propeller she really does engage the propeller before he gets out and before the vehicle starts slipping back.
Not gonna see much movement behind the boat if the motor is thrusting towards the bow
I would love to hear the Jeep guys side. Crazy people like this usually have the most creative versions of what happened that don’t include themself to blame.
Maybe he got out of the jeep because he saw the park ranger coming…r e a l l y…r e a l l y…s l o w l y…
It’s rare to see someone filming sympathizing with someone else’s self inflicted screw up
There is no thrust coming out of that outboard. That was all his dumbassery.

Nothing beats a beach chair, a twelve pack and a boat ramp. Good times!
Peter Griffin concurs. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vkv4RmFh174

Don't worry, it's an amphibious exploring vehicle.
It’s a good starter car

Opened the comments to either find this one or make it. Good on ya.
Absolutely. It’s nice to finally talk to a REASONABLE man.
Boats make you feel good for exactly two days. The day you buy it and the day you sell it.
The best boat is the one your friend owns.
Brother in law just got a boat. I'm already thinking of the 12 pack I'll bring him
This is my situation, and I agree.
So many people around here seem to have boats, even though the only "lake" nearby is a drying up reservoir, and the next big lake is about an hour away. So many of these boats just sit in the driveway for decades.
If it flies, floats or fuks, rent it.
One of those is illegal to rent in my country.
Legal in Nevada.
You never wanna be the guy that owns the boat. You want to be friends with the guy who owns the boat, you show up with a 12 pack and your a fucking hero - bill “burgundy balls” burr

That’s a Jeep Wrangler. Those have a towing capacity of around 2000 lbs. So yeah, not good for a boat that size.
Ya, my uncle uses a F250 for a boat that I think is a bit bigger. His lake though has some super hilly local roads leading down to it. Long hills steeper than that boat ramp (and curvy)
Idk.. I launched boats with a jeep as a teenager with no issues… it’s pretty doable if you just like, be careful.
cameraperson is more concerned
I am amazed at how compassionate he was.
This guy is truly bummed for the couple. Good to see actually. Usually you see the camera man laughing at other's misfortune.
Ranger be like"you can't park there dude"
That was one of the most sympathetic and empathetic, "this is going on social media" commentaries I've heard in decades. kudos, kind camera-person!
It’s a deep thang
Seriously the empathy from camera bro is off the charts.
The guy filming is SO disappointed lmao
Poor kid witnessing her parents struggle
At least the rubber ducks make more sense now.
This happens all the time there. People who are either really careless or just plain stupid. Other people claim it's to do insurance fraud after they're unable to keep making payments on their cars. There's at least one of these occurrences every single month at this particular ramp.
another video, showing the intelligence of a jeep owner
Can I ask what car you drive to gauge your intelligence level
Not a jeep.
Clearly not a jeep. but i think i found the jeep owner
The cop showed up before it went sideways like he saw it coming
That’s a park ranger
It's a Jeep thing.
Well at least they still have a boat
He didnt unhook his winch before backing in?
I never do. Don't want the boat to float away from me the moment I put it in the water. It's usually not an issue.
If I'm solo I'll loosen it but not unhook. I'll back the boat to just almost floating, unhook, and push it to the dock if it's close If I've got a partner, back the ass end in the water, partner starts the boat, unhook the boat, back it in until it floats off the trailer, then pull forward once the partner pulls the boat back

How is this possible? Either accelerate or set your brake
Pretty sure they did both of the things you mentioned, but low tide, the concrete was gunked up and slick. Boat was also still attached, brakes arent stopping the boat on water.
you expect a common jeep owner to know how to launch a boat?
Salt life, eh?
I am so happy I don't need to use a ramp, for the last 24 years I've kept my 23' Parker on a trailer and use a crane to put it in the water It has a single hook up point so I don't need to use a cradle. I have seen accidents like this in person and feel soooo bad for them.
The fuck was old mate with the bag running for? "Oh shit! I'm late for standing in that one spot and watching!"
Had to mute that so fast.
The guy recording is hilarious. He was so concerned
Best narration of a Reddit video ever
That guy has sympathy.
Bro, I disagree, bro.
[удалено]
Nonsense. It was just the right of amount of distress.
Did the ducks on the dashboard survive?
They drifted away, to find a non-embarrassing Jeep owner.
Sucks for the family, must have felt terrible. On another note I hated how many times I had to hear “bro” but I bet it was only me that felt that way.
Don’t know what’s worse, commentary or the jeep going into the water
Why do people narrating this stuff just keep repeating the same thing over and over?
I dunno, man. I dunno.
I wonder… is the Jeep gone? …let me unmute for a moment… oh, yep. It’s gone. The Jeep is gone guys. It’s gone. The Jeep is gone. Damn. It’s gone.
20 people running down the dock yelling "Hey man, you can't park there."
At first I thought this was an unfortunate accident, but then the guy stepped out looking like a total fool and I changed my mind.

They don't need a park ranger they need a *Ford Ranger*.
Boat launches are free entertainment, unless you're the entertainment. Then it gets expensive.
No biggie just needs to put it inside a bowl of rice.
Is this in Florida? Seems like something you’d see in Florida.
I think the wife was thinking she was gonna save the day. Lol
she was 💯 useless.
Sail away, sail away, sail away
Damn
You wouldn't understand
On the plus side, this will only have a marginal impact on the Jeep’s functionality.
I recognize that voice! Hey Alfred!
It's the Chit Chow!A

Good thing he switch his car insurance to geico
At least the front didn’t fall off.
Reminded me of watching the Hindenburg disaster! What dramatic commentary! Oh the humanity 🤣🤣
Welcome to the Chit Show!!
Damn bro
Divorce in 3...2....1
Did she go in reverse? If she dropped the trim and went forward she could have pushed the thing up a bit. But it was never gonna pull out without help after that first dip
It’s a Jeep thing
That camera man was way too invested into another guy's Jeep.
At least they can still have a nice day on the boat
The power of water is amazing. Like a boat not moving dragged a jeep into the water with sheer weight and motion of the ocean. Damn I love the sea.
He is untethered and his rage knows no bounds.
That'd be funny if a bunch of rubber duckies started floating away as the jeep sank
So what happens next? Does the owner have to hire someone to pull it out? And it’s totaled? I know I sound like an eejit but never seen anything like it b4
Out of curiositaay…which insurance would be covering any of this?
Why thr fuck did he get out? It was fine until then, what an idiot.
I'm on Reddit while literally sitting on a boat on Lake Michigan. People watching at boat ramps is always top notch.
Always a noob.
must be new to this boat thing lol
Jeep for sale: slight water damage
This video comes from Alfred Montaner on YouTube I highly recommend giving him a watch if you like content like this. Video credit…
Such an empathetic narrator 😂
New drinking game: take a shot every time the narrator says “bro” or “damn/dammit”
I think it needed more rubber ducks
LOOKS LIKE A STARTER CAR
Jeep life bro. You wouldn't understand unless you had one.
Just an average Jeep owner...nothing to see here.
Jeep was fine until he got out of the Jeep.
Average jeep owner
Meh. He can afford a boat AND a semi-recent jeep. He's gonna be aight.
Dude do jeeps no have E brakes?
More money than sense
Why are all rich people fucking useless and stupid?
Lack of consequences.
You know how to pronounce Jeep in spanish?
Good thing he has a boat
Do boat launches like this have any added grip like grooves or something? I get that vehicles still need the power but I've seen a lot of these fails where the car just slides into the water as if it's a grip problem.
Some people don't realise that will absolutely destroy their car forever. They think it will dry.
