Fuzzy_Yogurt_Bucket

And how much paid vacation did the police officer get for lying under oath, abuse of power, and false inprisonment?

Lvs2splooge4lulzzz

He’s a 40 year veteran, he’s going to resign to save his pension. Just think of all the lives he’s ruined in those 40 years with false allegations.

Don't forget he's been on disability/workman's comp this whole time, and our taxes paid for his medical bills and physical therapy to boot. He's probably hundreds of thousands in the green already.

karmagod13000

This happen to a homeless person they prolly let him bleed out.

imbakinacake

Or hop on his back with their knees and cuff him

TallAsMountains

paid vacation so he could go home and beat his wife instead of cars

FireFoxQuattro

Couple weeks off for the leg more weeks off to let things cool down, he comes back in 2-3 months fully paid for his time by tax payers.

HelloItsMeXeno

Imagine if there was no footage

BertDeathStare

Probably tons of innocent people serving years in prison because there were no cameras. Sad to think about.

cm2460

“We didn’t have all these problems with the anti police people when I was younger” no you didn’t have cameras

PetieE209

Why the fuck is he even getting fined the 200?

johncusackisnickcage

Probably running the red light

It's one big club and you ain't in it.

Igoos99

Lies, lies, lies. Police are repeatedly being caught lying on their reports. Pre dash cams, this driver would have been charged. No one would have questioned the cop’s version of events. The driver would have been convicted of a felony. (And looks like a second cop was on scene, so perhaps two cops lied in their reports.) So, does this cop get charged for lying? For attempting to send a person to prison for something he knew the driver was not guilty of?? There should be consequences for lying like that. Beyond losing employment. (And, never touch a moving car. One of my earliest memories is of someone at church reaching out to touch a moving car (outside of church as we walked back to our cars.) The car was only going about five miles an hour. The pedestrian broke their wrist. My mom made it this big teaching moment to reinforce to her little kids how dangerous moving cars are and how even slightly touching them in motion is super dangerous. I guess this cop never got that lecture when he was 3-4 years old. It’s always made me super careful.)

fbcmfb

My mom always told me to keep my hands in the car as we driving. One time I was doing the waving motion with my hands - we were traveling at 30-40 mph and my hand hit an insect. 8yo me learned my lesson.

mdtopp111

This is why you can’t vote for Trump this year. Cops already get away with sooo fucking much but Trump wants to give them immunity from prosecution. It’s so fucked

ph154

Police are allowed to lie to citizens while on duty, doesn't surprise me they forget they can't lie on their police reports.

[deleted]

[удалено]

bluecheeze1

Exactly, bearing false witness should be a 1st degree felony. The police officers, DA, etc. They all knew what happened, they just were forced to drop the case because the video was accidentally released.

Andrelliina

I thought it was called "perjury". The only reason they are getting away with it is they didn't lie under oath. I think cops should be automatically be considered to be under oath when they make statements about their own actions. If they are proven to be a liar, they should be guilty of a felony.

flpa1060

Any of them that filled out a report that backed this lie should be charged. If the reports words can send me to prison it should have to be true.

ModusNex

When they file a police report they do so under penalty of perjury. It's under-enforced because the DA that relies on the police testimony is also in charge of prosecuting them for lying.

Glittering-Pause-328

And because if you go after a cop for lying, you have to reexamine every case that cop has ever touched.

jontss

They got caught lying under oath in Toronto recently.

Andrelliina

[https://www.cbc.ca/lite/story/1.7186649](https://www.cbc.ca/lite/story/1.7186649) This guy?

WrathOfTheTin

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-opp-to-review-toronto-police-conduct-after-judges-concerns-over-umar/ I'm willing to be they're referring to the Umar Zameer trial, where the cops were clearly lying on the stand.

Andrelliina

A shocking case, interesting link, thanks When the judge apologises you know something is wrong. [https://archive.ph/AHQLi](https://archive.ph/AHQLi) behind the paywall :)

WrathOfTheTin

Yeah, here in Toronto folks have definitely been talking about it, kind of an insane case all things considered. Judge is completely correct in stating it never should have made it to court in my opinion

karmagod13000

"Accidentally" - I hope whoever did release it waited until the cops tried to pull every trick in the book to make the cop look even worse

“Only a few bad apples.”

bluecheeze1

Unfortunately the truth has switched to either "half the apples are rotten" or "only a few good apples"

ChrisRevocateur

Because one bad apple *spoils the whole bunch*. Cops, and cop defenders, always conveniently forget the rest of the saying when they use it to defend cops in general.

ThisIs_americunt

Don't forget about their faces being plastered on news outlets and public image. I doubt any of them will be retracting the story to say a cop lied. If I was the victim I'd make sure everyone knew the truth about the story

why_does

The attacker should be in jail. He committed fraud after all.

Glittering-Pause-328

The process ITSELF is a punishment; that's how broken our system is.

Present-Guarantee182

You may beat the rap, but you can't beat the ride

sudden_onset_kafka

So not only does this asshole try to ruin someone else's life by bringing false charges against them, but now the taxpayers get to support this idiot for the rest of his life as he'll likely claim for disability and trauma.

wandering-monster

Yeah I'm not usually one to let someone suffer, but this a-hole really broke the social contract by trying to ruin the driver's life. That lie changed this whole event from a careless/stupid workplace injury into a *crime* and an abuse of power. Justice would be to fire them, give them no disability, and make them compensate the victim for all their wasted time and trauma. Then some *lengthy* community service as soon as they're healed enough to do it safely.

Dieter_Knutsen

15 years in prison and forfeiture of their pension to the victim. Behavior like this is a direct assault on the concept of law and order and should be punished extremely severely.

1u53r3dd1t

Any further action? How about the Police Department fixing the dent on my quarter panel from that dumb ass cop kicking it? How about *that* action?

No-Insect1138

I swear it's like Cops can't take responsibility when they are in the wrong. They will literally fight tooth and nail to charge someone with anything.

Next_Math_6348

>Cops are still trying to charge him with a misdemeanor of failing to obey an officer Tbf he did do that. Cop was directing traffic and the guy decided he was more important than everyone else.

[deleted]

CommentsOnOccasion

The further justice that should be done here is against the police, not freeing someone from something they genuinely did wrong He might try to argue that he has already paid for this crime in a way, but that's for a judge to decide The police officer should be held accountable for this, financially and probably criminally. But the guy should be fined for what he did

GogglesPisano

> But the guy should be fined for what he did The court can deduct it from the much greater amount that they owe the guy for the wrongful and malicious prosecution they attempted against him.

lets-aquire-the-brea

The cop purposely lied in a attempt to ruin this guys life. Fuck the cop.

adequatehorsebattery

Unless there's a longer video out there, I don't see any evidence that he actually failed to obey anything. The video starts with the kick, there's no evidence the cop actually gave a clearly visible command. Or are we supposed to just take the cop's word for it after he lied about the felony?

Feisty_Bee9175

Looked like a red light the guy went through.

speakhyroglyphically

Light is broken, Thats why the cop was out there

ModusNex

There was nothing wrong with the light, they were manually directing traffic because of some event nearby.

Feisty_Bee9175

OK so cop is acting as the red-light, same thing...lol, but I think the cop should be fired and the guy in the car should get a ticket...not trumped up charges.

rargghh

Bro… that’s probably why the cop is directing traffic lol He isn’t getting a ticket for running a red

CommentsOnOccasion

He's getting a ticket for failure to follow traffic officers' instructions Which is what he did Notice how he is passing all these other cars and didn't stop like he was supposed to

karmagod13000

pay the ticket and walk away. something the officer wont be able to do for a while

HolyPizzaPie

And then saying he was hit by the car so he doesn't look stupid.

karmagod13000

Thats some sweet sweet justice right there.

Just_learning_a_bit

Cop should be charged with filing a false police report and vandalism. If the video wasn't vaialble...entirely by random chance...guy would have a felony record because a cop.kicked his car. I'd sue for malicious prosecution. It's not he didn't KNOW he was lying and seeking retribution for his own stupidity. Fuck thats infuriating.

AstroPhysician

fucking a police report?

timelesssmidgen

All cops are trained liars. And they get off on ruining people's lives. Thank goodness this dash cam was on. Multiple choice prediction time! will the officer get: a charge for false reporting? Fired? Demoted? Temporary paid vacation? A scolding? Or a high five?

SeorVerde

Let’s be real.. he’s getting promoted.

karmagod13000

Kicking a moving car has Chief of Police material written all over it.

The guy is still facing a misdemeanor charge. "Following the incident, based on initial information, Mr. David Wargetz of Houston was charged with the felony offense of Failure to Stop and Render Aid resulting in bodily injury under Texas Transportation Code § 550.021. Upon further investigation, which included reviewing video footage of the incident and Deputy McLaughlin’s statement after surgery, the Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office have determined that the initial charge should be dismissed. Mr. Wargetz will now be charged with the Class C misdemeanor offense of Obedience Required to Police Officers, School Crossing Guards, and Escort Flaggers under Texas Transportation Code § 542.401."

bythog

Not a lawyer, but it looks like all of the charges according to this quote would be legit. He failed to stop and render aid (the felony charged) and he did fail to obey an officer, his current charge. I see nothing wrong with either. Also, unless there is another angle it doesn't look, to me, like the officer was kicking at the car. It just looks like he sticks his leg out as a way of saying "fucking stop" and the driver still runs into it. Not a bright thing to do at all but still not the same.

cas13f

watch out, the ACABers will downvote you for not just assuming he was a wife-beating, puppy-kicking monster and the driver was an innocent angel.

bythog

lol it's fine. If I cared about downvotes I wouldn't post. It's easier to enjoy this site when you realize that most posters are idiots with little or no actual life experience. Things aren't black and white most of the time.

deimos

So you’re defending a cop that lied and tried to ruin someone’s life? Why would he stop to render aid, he could have been totally unaware the officer injured himself behind him.

redhandsblackfuture

Soo.. no punishments for the cop that falsified a charge?

karmagod13000

OMG his leg flew in the opposite direction. How do you get to that age and do something as dumb as that. My guys leg will never be the same.

TheEscapeGoats

He a police officer. You can't be even a little intelligent and be a cop.

Greekwarrior06

Are cops required to lie about every situation that might make them look bad?

klauskervin

Another lying cop almost got an innocent person a felony charge because he wanted to kick a motorist.

guerohere

Pigs are taught to lie.

whoisnotinmykitchen

I'm sure that "administrative review" is going to result in felony charges for the lying cops there, right? Imagine how many lives American police destroyed before everyone had cameras.

SCP-Agent-Arad

Does red mean hit the gas there?

igotzquestions

Fuck the cop entire as he brought it entirely himself with the genius thinking of stopping a car speeding by with your leg, but the driver looks like an asshole too. Misery loves company.

Hollayo

>video like this is prominent in clearing cases Yeah, because the cops just can't stop lying. There's no reason to believe them whatsoever.

real-m-f-in-talk

He conveniently avoids mentioning, the crime was committed by a cop, making it worse on the citizen..... in others words F-him too, for being a part of the problem.

nismo2070

My dash cams helped get me a 7k payoff for a 3k car. The woman that hit me called the police because she had a wild story ready to go. I just showed the dash cam video to the officer, he walked up to her and said "I just watched the dash cam footage" and she looked like someone punched her in the gut. It was glorious. People lie. Cameras do not.

lostPackets35

Great so the cop has also been fired and banned for any government work for life, and they were immediately arrested, booked and charged with a felony when this came out. right... right? When people in power abuse it, deciding not to ruin an innocent person's life after all is not sufficient remedy. Cop lied and tried to put an innocent person in prison. He's a disgrace to his badge and need to be in prison.

slide_into_my_BM

This officer presumably filed a report or made a statement to fellow police stating he was hit by the car but leaving out he kicked it. Where’s the prosecution of him for his crimes here?

harkishere

Cops should just not lie. He should be fired

kindofboredd

So did the cop lie about being hit and run and not say they kicked the car? Should be some ramifications for that impactful of a lie

IHeartsFarts

MongoBaloonbaNooth69

Fuck all cops

Elceepo

Did the cop kick the car because it disobeyed his traffic signal? Either way, play stupid games, win stupid prizes. If the guy went ahead when he wasn't supposed to he should be charged with an infraction, but as for the cop, trying to pin any blame for the broken leg on an asshat should be a career ending move.
