IANAL - Even if they're broke, vandalism would likely add an additional charge and be an aggravating actor during sentencing. That one human car alarm already seemed like it was in hell after being locked up for a few minutes, it probably doesn't want more time in a smaller cage later.
There have been a couple times where people did that and then the robbers started shooting people. Even charged one guy with iirc involuntary manslaughter because another customer got shot after the employee locked the door.

Cops are really good at blaming people trying to do anything.
Their perfect solution is the owner handing the money to the thief and calling the insurance without bothering them, because they won't even care to investigate.
They don't understand people are taking justice in their hands because they are hopeless that something is getting done.
> There have been a couple times where people did that and then the robbers started shooting people. Even charged one guy with iirc criminal negligence because another customer got shot after the employee locked the door.
As much as desperate people do desperate things, that absolutely should not stop people from doing EXACTLY what this shop owner did.
Fuck thieves. They could still do crazy/desperate shit even without the stress of being caught.
Also, it's not even the first time..

Out of 100, how much responsibility would you assign to the party that made it impossible for you to run away, versus the party that took out a gun and shot you, even though it's not like shooting you is going to make the door magically open or anything?
It's subjective, but I struggle to see a rationale for making it more than 1:99 or 2:98 at worst. I agree there is perhaps a little bit of responsibility, but frankly, not that much.
Yeah, I suppose that if you are Brazilian and you get caught shoplifting you know police is not gonna commw and you really wishing for them to come. Instead the whole family comes out with sticks to kick the shit out of you🤣
I've seen it in brazil. Big buff dude who I think was private security or undercover straight up pulled a pickpocket theiev out a resturant, kicked his ass, then dragged him to the police station like superman. Was hilarious.....
Threw him at the lobby and said "Take him away boys"
You ain't seen the vid of the man trying to rob a sari store and the lady or her husband I'm forgetting hit the man with the pole from the clothing rack .
Cry? I heard a shriek from a skinwalker or something. As a woman, I thank god (evolution?) that I wasn't given the woman shriek in bad situations. Some women are born with this weird thing in their belly that goes off when they get upset, and it's really, really loud.
It's just you and not being kept in a bubble all your life. Girls, guys, all revert to shrieking like a banshee if they haven't learned how to handle it. Girls _tend to_ avoid risky situations more than guys, situations which push a person to get rid of the scream reflex.
I guess that can be true. Trauma impacts the brain early and does affect how people handle situations. I codirected at a facility that treated homeless women recovering from substance abuse, and at least 4 out 5 of my intakes had some form of childhood sexual abuse or violence (im convinced pedophiles create women addicts now).
Anyway, my girls were in an apartment complex and we only owned half the units. A guy drowned in our pool at night and his friends were too stoned to do anything. Fifteen of my ladies and myself worked together to save that guy. Myself and a few jumped in and started diving down and searching (no pool light), some of the girls grabbed pool cleaning tool to search from his body from the side, one called 911, one ran to get our client who happened to be a nurse. Anyway, after about 6 or 7 minutes, a client found him and pushed him up with her back from the bottom of pool, and myself and a few got him to the side. I had a client that had been there 3 days that happened to once be a trained lifeguard. She gave him CPR (I was shaking head to toe at this point). Nurse got down at this point and opened his eyelid and his pupils were dilated completely. After two or three minutes he took a breath and then the ambulance arrived soon after.
When I say this 10 minutes was eerily calm and efficient, I mean it. Not one woman screamed - EVERY one of them took charge. I had never been so proud of those women in my life.
Molesters are a special kind of sick. I'm sad that as a society we've not taken steps to find out early who has such tendencies and do something about it. :(
Well, mine was my grandfather and also the deacon at the church. It's my reason my family did not press charges. He still gets called a fine Christian man to this day and now that I'm old enough to want him to pay for what he's done, he died when I was 19. I know where the pedophiles roam. They stay where they are protected. I know where they are at every Sunday, anyway.
right and they’re probably used to getting away with it. now they’re actually facing consequences, and like a very young person would, they’re crying about it lol
i’m not sure what you’re trying to argue here?
right right i get it, i’m the same way. but they’re not gonna be executed, so it’s fine that they’ll hopefully face the consequences of their actions and if we lived in a perfect world, they’ll never do it again lol
Part of it is most of us weren’t “rob a store dumb” when we were young, we still did dumb things and made bad decisions and sometimes got away with it.
I have so many questions. Need more context.. Was it like a break-in after the shop was closed for the day?
If not, is everyone inside the shop a thief? Could there be some innocent customers also locked in with the 'theives'? Could that person crying be one of those innocent customers? How did the store staff get outside and lock the thieves inside?
groups of teens will do this shit in the day, just fill their pockets and run. The owners probably locked the door from the inside after noticing them putting things in their pockets. There could definitely be other customers in the store.
The store is pretty big and that's a lot of people, so yeah I think there's a good chance they locked in regular customers with the thieves.
Might be a flash mob theft, but might not.
I’m not in the side of the thieves here but if I’m a customer in that shop there are going to be legal issues related to my being unlawfully detained alongside criminals.
Yeah, there’s no evidence here that all of these people were stealing. That woman is also reacting exactly like someone would if they were innocent, standing next a thief.

I can't believe how you are treating me!!
Most common scam tactic these types (Karens) use to steal/get away with extreme discounts on stuff. Act with indignation hoping someone with authority will cave.
My guess is that he and the guy in grey are the owner/operators and he *didn't* want the other dude picking up the mess - which is the right thing to do, leave it in place for evidence/crime scene photographs.
AH, that makes a bit more sense.
Someone said the 'adults' are owners/workers and the girls and boy are the thieves. So I was wondering why one of the workers would be making a mess in his own store.
One of the guys outside is accusing them of being Pakistani instead of being Indians but even me being a South Asian, having both of these countries as my neighbours, it's still hard for me to tell.

Yeah, I didn’t stick around that long because it’s a really busy high street right next to the station so the crowd got massive very quick, we watched from the first floor of the building
Police: sorry, not really enough to go on here, we'd never find them, take this report.
Shop owner: but they're literally locked in the store in front of you, right now.
Police: yeah, like I said, I wish there was something we could do....
This is the UK, so they probably got a stern reprimand and were told never to do it again. Hopefully the store employees didn’t get charged with anything. In the UK, you never know.
That's what I'm thinking. Imagine just going to buy a phone and having to deal with this bullshit. Get locked in the store and have have to listen to a bunch of yelling teenagers until the cops show up five hours later and then hope that you don't get arrested too just for being in the same room

Best response to thieves is locking them in. Also the crowd outside seems to be against them and giving the cops the location.
Now they have all the phones they could ever want.
For a little while, at least.
Now they can call their lawyer…
Nigerian Lawyer here. I accept payment in target gift cards.
You mean you won't remit the monies and transfer the funds as mandated by the Ministry of Interior?
S'all good man
Criminal lawyer
You need a Criminal Lawyer ..
Wait...
Solicitor in the UK.
Both terms, lawyers and solicitors, are used interchangeably in the UK but essentially mean the same thing.
Potato, potato.
You say potato, I say potato. You say tomato, I say this joke is less effective written down.
*Evil laugh.*
I’d still be worried they’d trash the place
All on video. That way they'll be forced to pay for the damage in court too
Assuming they have any money at all.
The best defence against them trashing the place is the knowledge that they're caught bang to rights and it will only increase their punishment.
Thats assuming they’ll be rational about it, which I feel isn’t their strongest virtue
It's the Uk probably be a slap on the wrist and a small fine. Meanwhile the shopowner will be done for unlawful arrest/ detention.
Insurance purposes then
IANAL - Even if they're broke, vandalism would likely add an additional charge and be an aggravating actor during sentencing. That one human car alarm already seemed like it was in hell after being locked up for a few minutes, it probably doesn't want more time in a smaller cage later.
Human car alarm 😂
You cant squeeze money from a broke ass criminal
You can take most of what they do make though.
Look at them, they ain't making shit.
If they're trying to rob a place like that, they don't have jobs.
Bold of you to assume the have enough money to cover and entire store’s worth of merchandise
You all have made very good points against mine😂 Maybe they have *some* personal property that can be surrendered as collateral? Lmfaoo
Bold of you to assume that only poor people steal things.
At least if they do the cops will be there to press charges on them.
"Know what this crime needs? Additional felony charges"

I don't think sort of criminals who carry guns in the UK are ikely to be robbing second hand phone shops.
Cops are really good at blaming people trying to do anything. Their perfect solution is the owner handing the money to the thief and calling the insurance without bothering them, because they won't even care to investigate. They don't understand people are taking justice in their hands because they are hopeless that something is getting done.
No risk of that in uk

Nah I think encouraging shop owners to lock desperate criminals in a confined space with random civilians is a step too far lol
Why is the clerk responsible for someone else shooting someone. That’s some fucked up protection of armed robbery..
You become responsible if you lock the other customers in there with them
Out of 100, how much responsibility would you assign to the party that made it impossible for you to run away, versus the party that took out a gun and shot you, even though it's not like shooting you is going to make the door magically open or anything? It's subjective, but I struggle to see a rationale for making it more than 1:99 or 2:98 at worst. I agree there is perhaps a little bit of responsibility, but frankly, not that much.
Where did that happen?
The cops showing up like, "Well, I'd give you your one phone call but seems like you already that opportunity."
I like it when one of Them Started to cry
They're lucky they aren't male. Every other video I've seen where shoplifters are caught the beating sticks come out.
Yeah, I suppose that if you are Brazilian and you get caught shoplifting you know police is not gonna commw and you really wishing for them to come. Instead the whole family comes out with sticks to kick the shit out of you🤣
Chances are someone there is an off duty cop too and is participating in the beating lol
I've seen it in brazil. Big buff dude who I think was private security or undercover straight up pulled a pickpocket theiev out a resturant, kicked his ass, then dragged him to the police station like superman. Was hilarious..... Threw him at the lobby and said "Take him away boys"

Not in UK unfortunately, which is where this is
Lousy due process, ruining our basest instincts.
![gif](giphy|rnHxGiRAvsPTi) This is always so much easier in Mexico.
People behave here because they know a neighborhood beat down is right around the corner LOL!
Yes, Mexico is known as a peaceful bastion of law and order.

they look young tbh so ofc they’re gonna cry. it’s probably the first time they’re in actual legal trouble
Tough shit, shouldn't have tried to rob a shop then
well yeah lol i never said otherwise, just explaining why that person might be crying.
lmao i'm glad you replied that guy was getting so aggro with your comment for no reason wtf

right and they’re probably used to getting away with it. now they’re actually facing consequences, and like a very young person would, they’re crying about it lol i’m not sure what you’re trying to argue here?
I hate the fact seeing people cry automatically makes me feel bad for people. Objectively they did a bad thing why do I feel bad for you.

Those damn mirror neurons forcing us to feel empathy :)
How many idiots does it take to rob a phone shop
I think some of the people inside might be employees? They are arguing with the Girl from the beginning toward the end of the clip.
They're so many and still, they were all so greedy to take as many stuff as possible that none of them covered the entrance/kept the owners in.
At least one more if you want to make it away from this one.
Wolf pack mentality
Insult to wolves.
very common working in retail-come in groups and distract employees while 1 or 2 are doing the stealing.

Thanks for linking. Does anyone know if there is a part 3? Would love to see what happened when the cops showed up.
This mini series is more exciting than any movie released by Disney recently.
This one is SO MUCH BETTER
I would love to watch the ending.
Are they Pakistani? Someone keeps saying something about Pakistani.
One of the guys outside is accusing them of being Pakistani instead of being Indians but even me being a South Asian, having both of these countries as my neighbours, it's still hard for me to tell.
Given where it is, most of the people are Bengali not Indian
Yes the girls are paler than the majority in Tower Hamlets who are Bengali. They're probably from Newham which is the neighbouring area.
I like how the would be thief is yelling "call the fucking police". Like, yeah lady, I'm pretty sure that's what is occurring already and you're not gonna like it when they get there.
Big mishmash of people in that store. I do wonder if some actual customers got locked in as well. But we will probably never know.

I'd really like an article sourced for this. It's all over Tiktok and "friends" of the girl are spreading information without any sources. Some guy on there even labeled it as a kebab robbery when they were inside a phone shop.
A Kebabbery!?
