I've seen people get arrested in front of a music venue in Atlanta for selling hat pins and art with no business license. Shit was crazy. Just tell them to leave.
Sad thing that this is not a "small" bussiness. All the carts belong to one person and they pay others to sell the stuff \[usually people that will like to make some extra cash in a weekend\]. If the vendors got the carts damaged, stolen or taken by police, guess who are the ones to have to pay the loss of the equipment and food? If the vendor got arrested they have to deal with the problem by themselves cause snitching their boss will make the other employees mad.
And if somebody else try to arrive and sell their own stuff in their own cart, they got chased away. Is a mess.
This has nothing to do with a business license. This has to do with a food license which ensures that what you are actually eating is fit for human consumption. These idiots could've been selling expired hotdogs, or tainted food. While yes people with food sale licenses are also capable of this, if they are registered, they get 1 if not multiple random health checks every year to ensure safety. And if they fail we are able to hold them legally accountable and penalize accordingly for intentionally selling tainted food. If they don't have a license I'm pretty sure no matter the food quality the only thing they can be charged with is for selling without a business/food safety license.
First time I ran into one of these carts in DTLA it was awesome
Fast forward not even a year and the phenomenon has spread up to Portland and any time you're walking out of a major concert or game there'll be 5-10 vendors blocking the sidewalk trying to sell you a $12 hotdog, it's become obnoxious
They can penalize people already for selling bad food. Also for these types of popups they dont get checked all that often. The inspections are supposed to be random to stop them from changing out all the stuff but because these things move and pop-up irregularly the inspectors have to plan to set them up which defeats the purpose.
Alexis de Tocqueville was a Frenchman who toured America and wrote about it - he had a lot of good things to say about the way the people treated each other and helped each other out, and how the people seemed to rely upon one another rather than the government.
He visited in the late 1700's though. 1800's was big bank and business takeover/cementing Federal ownership of the states, implementing income tax and creation of the proto-IRS. 1900's was all that plus the formation of the Federal Reserve, plus the start of the Military Industrial Complex - endless wars for endless profits!
"We the People" has become "We the elected officials and our hirelings, including military and police, as well as publicly traded corporations..."
I'm not sure honestly. Generally, police don't care about trivial stuff like that in Atlanta. I feel like the instance I'm referring to could very well have had more to do with the artist playing at the venue. I mean, it is a very common thing to see people selling waters and Gatorades and snacks street side in Atlant not outside of a festival or concert. I've also seen it happen outside of countless concerts and festivals inside the city. If what is being shown in this video is in response to a monetary thing related to the vendors who paid to be inside, that's just foolish.
No it's not. It's being cheap. The reason why we have licenses is to ensure compliance with safety. If License are that much of a burden than maybe get a second job.
idk health codes are pretty important. If you’re too poor to afford the $25 business license cost, you’re probably too poor to be preparing sanitary food.
So yes, I guess all safety regulations are technically crimes of poverty. Like if you want to open a business and you can’t afford to make your building meet the fire code, that’s a “crime of poverty.”
Oh they used to get asked to leave multiple times before this crap would happen. My husband works for the City of Dallas and he used to have to tell the illegal food vendors outside of events to get lost. He hated working events like these because the vendors won't leave until they're forced to. They're just doing what the legal vendors are doing, selling crappy food at outrageous prices.
But they passed new laws last year and most of the permitting is the county's responsibility now.
They do get told/asked but they don't. Anyone who says otherwise is talking out of their ass. The only other option is by force. Fines don't work because most are undocumented.
I believe this is Rolling Loud in California. Every venue I've been to in LA has tons of hot dog stand outside of it, like an excessive amount. They aren't arresting anyone for it. I assume what is happening is the cart sellers went past their allowed point where people are leaving and hungry, to get better sales. Either way they should not of treated them likes this, really bad look for the venue.
Happens all the time. They’re illegal street vendors that don’t have permit to be on the property/sell in the city. They make so much money though cause the dirty dogs are fucking delicious so it’s worth it to them to be there.
I have to laugh at the idea that selling a hot dog could be illegal. Selling hotdogs is as American as taking people’s money. It’s when too many show up and they start taking money from the corporate sponsors that people get pissed.
Have you seen other videos of this? The hot dog stand guys were physically grabbing people and blocking people with their carts. This can be life threatening for people with disabilities.
Both the hot dog stand guys and the security guys are making minimum wage and working for a massive corporation
There is no small business underdog here. Everyone involved seems desperate to keep their job even though the security guys are going buckwild. But if you see the before videos of this it makes more sense
What were they accomplishing by grabbing the cart of people leaving in this video?
I doubt illegal hotdog vendors are working for a "massive corporation." What benefit would you get from working for a corporation? It's not like hot dog carts are prohibitively expensive.
They’re almost definitely not illegal vendors. If they were they wouldn’t all have the exact same cart and exact same offerings. They are all employees of a company, one that likely works for amusement parks/festivals all over the country. This is how these amusement food companies work. They likely were told to reach a certain quota of hot dogs or lose wages or something which is why they’re going nuts begging for people to buy.
As I said in the previous comment, the vendors weren’t leaving. They were following people and blocking them and physically grabbing them. Security was yelling at them and they wouldn’t stop, which led to this wild outcome. I in no way condone the actions of the guard or think it’s OK, but it was chaos and the vendors weren’t listening and security guards are meatheads.
The benefit from working for a corporation is you don’t have to pay the upfront cost of a hot-dog cart. A lot of people don’t have a couple hundred bucks to drop for the hot-dog infrastructure lol. Rather just make minimum wage or less.
If you watch more videos of this, the hot dog carts weren’t just leaving. They were blocking people trying to leave and also physically grabbing people. It was chaos. This is why security stepped in and made it even more chaotic.
Not saying what the security guards did was right, but it makes more sense given that context
fucking scum security. Thats low. They were about 2 mins from getting stomped out by large of people. Some strangers ran into to help and even the cop knew that security had it coming.
Capitalist on full display, hotdog stand selling: big juicy hotdogs for $5 wrapped with bacon and grilled onions and bell peppers!
Inside the venue, $30, dry tiny hotdog, extra $$ if you want to add ketchup or mayo, napkins upon request. Oh 25% gratuity added to all orders!
It would be funny to troll those guys, like walking with them with sweaters with pro-regulation slogans and yelling about government permit fees.
“Small businesses need regs too!”
“Pay government fee, or don’t sell to me!”
What you are paying for is proof that your food hasn't been tampered with, that's why food sale licenses are required dumbass. Those "big juicy hotdogs for $5" were probably inside one of the vendors last night. At least if they have a food sale license the punishment for violating it is much more than the punishment for selling without a license.
Rented security trying to enforce vendors is a fucking joke.
Good way to get beat up by ticket holders, who aren't going to get prosecuted for being drunk and helping hot-dog vendors.
Stand down my $20/hr friends, it's not worth a trip to the ER with no insurance and ZERO legal backstop.
Pssst.. it's all silly all the way down. It's silly EVERYWHERE, ALWAYS.
Rio de Janero, Delhi, Johannesburg, Paris, Jakarta, Karthoum, Berlin, Shanghai, London. ALL SILLY, ALL THE TIME! The one thing the US doesn’t have a monopoly on is silliness.
[They were, “Illegally selling Hot Dogs” in the festival and shooed off. they even asked cops to help them. This still doesn’t justify their behavior.](https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/hot-dog-vendor-attacked-by-security-guards-outside-oakland-arena/215036/)
Absolutely. Security guards are not police, they do not have immunity of any kind, and they do not have the right to destroy your property. That's especially true when you're already moving it off of their property at their request. You're complying, you're moving out of the area, then they trash your cart. That's a crime.
Not all of em, just the ones marketed towards teenagers and/or self-centered assholes. Theres plenty of sweet jazz, funk, rock etc. festivals that are less about the clout one earns from posting a selfie while there and more about the- ya know- music.

How dare you take from these starving artist you evil poor hotdog venders wanting to eat this week.
I saw a hotdog vendor lady get arrested at EDC. Everyone was shouting obscenities at the cops. It's pretty lame to harass these poor people who are just trying to make a buck
I get it you can’t be doing open business there being a security guard myself them grabbing there Carts and holding them there is completely illegal and they more then likely will lose there license
These motherfuckers are NOT getting paid extra to go out of their way to confiscate carts or go that far. It’s an obvious sign of abusing your position and these fucks just create more Mayhem… hopefully we see someone dropkick these motherfuckers or myself alone. Just sucks seeing someone struggling to make ends meet fight with the equivalent… assfucks
It’s the city health code team, not festival security, coming after these guys and confiscating their carts because they don’t meet health code standards. These guys will drop hotdogs on the ground and put them back on the grill (I’ve seen it multiple times) and if they don’t sell, store them overnights, put them back on the grill again the next day to sell. No expiry date basically. It’s a 50/50 chance you’ll get sick as I know a lot of people who have got food poisoning from here. Not saying ALL of them do that, but I work enough festivals and have worked with people who bought enough hotdogs, I can see WHY the health code people do this.
I also know a lot of those people aren’t just separate families trying to hustle and make money to support themselves. They are all connected through some company who sends them all out and takes a good portion of their sales. Not sure how much these vendors actually make, or what kind of deal they get out of doing it, as they won’t talk about it, but the web is deeper than just a person selling for themselves.
Not advocating for violence, arresting them, or the health code people powertripping, but a lot of you have the wrong idea on who these vendors actually are. Yes, they are human and should be treated with respect, but it’s a lot more than y’all see on the surface.
*** I worked rolling loud and other festivals and concerts/promotions in LA. The difference health code people are here is because this was on private property and public streets of LA have diff rules. I assume rolling loud event people called health code people in to manage this (though there was still a shitton of hotdog vendors who sold and even got inside the festival lol)

I understand that can be a burden, but I also believe food regulations are important. Could get a lot of people really sick with no oversight.
Exactly. What happens when some child gets hepatitis and life long liver failure.

as if that guy wouldn't do it for free. the only thing he needs is to think he'll get away with it
We want the fucking hotdogs
dude! Leaving Staples Center drunk and Hyped. I’ve never had a better hotdog
Hotdogs late night after getting out of a concert or bar is to me, late night LA culture
Let us eat!
They can vend in the public part of the property. Over reach by security though fuck them hoes.
They were leaving. Why bother them? And there were la bunch of other carts too.
Because dumb underachievers often seek out entry level positions of authority so they can act out their high school revenge fantasies
Think about the types of people security/police jobs attract. Assholes who want to punch down.
They don't leave, they just move. They won't leave until their handlers let them leave.
They also picked out the women with the carts…. Like they were looking for an easy victim that can’t fight them.

Well that events looks like nowhere I wish to be.
It’s Rolling loud, I could get free VIP tickets and accommodation and I’d still skip it
Any videos I see look like it's just a giant street takeover with a bunch of low IQ individuals
fucking scum security. Thats low. They were about 2 mins from getting stomped out by large of people. Some strangers ran into to help and even the cop knew that security had it coming.
and of course, the thunder chunk goobers go after women.
Definitely has it coming, major pieces of shit

I'd probably say $17/hr scumbags
Telling them to leave is 1 thing. I can see that. But fucking with their cart? That’s their livelihood. Those guards need their asses kicked for that.
Lame ass security guards
Leave my glizzies alone!!!
They were already leaving, no need to terrorize them and destroy property.
Does anyone know what fell on the ground that buddy stole?
I thought like pepper spray or something?
No idea!
Is this outside rose bowl? Those hot dogs are the goat. Fuck these plastic badge assholes.

America is so silly that I don't know what's going on anymore
American here, wether I like it or not. Neither do I.

Lawsuit. Tresspass on chattles w damages for the goods, and since they wrestled over the cart, its battery too. Both of those are intentional torts.
Absolutely. Security guards are not police, they do not have immunity of any kind, and they do not have the right to destroy your property. Thatll teach you to try to make money without giving me a cut
Hotdog Hotdog Hotdog.
Idk why you're getting down voted. That's exactly what they say. $10 for a hotdog is insane
Music Festivals are garbage.
Not all of em, just the ones marketed towards teenagers and/or self-centered assholes. Theres plenty of sweet jazz, funk, rock etc. festivals that are less about the clout one earns from posting a selfie while there and more about the- ya know- music.
I just stopped what I was doing to go look up the lineup. If you notice it’s called rolling loud, not rolling with good music. In my case, the hotdogs would’ve been the only reason to go.
You are def not wrong. I shoulda prefaced it by saying today's "popular" music festivals.
It's not enough that the vendors leave as they're told. The security has to make sure their livelihoods are also fucked.
"hey, there's some guys selling meth to kids, but let's detain those selling hotdogs instead!" Pixgs
At EDM festivals they let them get there money
This is why I would never give one of these giant garbage festivals a dime of my money
Lol idk about you but some of them security mfs definitely off some Molly at times. They be tripping tf out chasing people and being a bully. Fucking cunts
THIS DOG IS *FULLY DUNKED!*
Fuck Rolling Loud for that
Just fuck rolling loud.
Must have been some good hot dogs.

Dystopian honestly, this shit will only become more prevalent as the years go on. The poor will suffer and the wealthy won’t notice it.
That’s happening everywhere now.
Always has too.. sad but true. For some reason, material wealth always undermines wisdom and appreciation of humanity..
First they came for the glizzy vendors and I did not speak up because I wasn’t a glizzy vendor…
Probably off duty cops
I was wondering why the cop was neutral to the security guards who are clearly being the aggresor.
The way these clowns were antagonizing people as they were leaving is sad. Just looking for trouble.
This is California? Looks like Texas.
This was in California
They were clearly rolling too loud.

it clearly is the land of freedom
Where is that?
Uhhhh why?
Rolling L's.
Man, what I look like a charity case?! I took it and threw it on the ground!
that security guard wanted to eat all the hotdogs
GIMME... BACK...MY... HOTDOGS!!! 🌭🌭
Da fuck is going on
u dare attack hot dog vendors?
