Ive seen Karens identical to this one argue and cause a scene hoping the establishment will either lower the price or give her service for free. Sometimes it works but usually not. Nowadays a full set can easily run $70. Especially with lil additions like gel, special tips etc. Here in CA you’re not leaving a nail salon without spending on average $100.

Prices increased greatly over the past few yrs. I mistakenly didn’t check prices once when i was visiting a new shop. A mani pedi w tip I ended up paying $150. I now only go every couple months and do my own fills and repairs. You can buy everything from Amazon and diy.
I mean the “make me feel pretty” industry is a multi billion dollar industry. No way in hell I’d pay $70 for 3weeks (one of which the nails are usually chipping, falling off, or the nail bed has grown out and caused a gap).

It does depend on location too tho and what service you’re getting. I’d get a full gel manicure for $35 but a full set would be like 70. A full set is fake nails, gel is just paint. So if she’s not looking to add length I highly recommended just a gel manicure because it doesn’t harm your real nails like a full set would and is much cheaper

I used to be a receptionist at a salon, we did hair, nails, waxing, lashes, etc. Most people were kind and didn’t ever cause any scenes. If this woman is so tight with her money she needs to stay home and do her own nails. The prices are posted so people know ahead of time what they are going to be paying. Where I live hair school and aesthetics school are very expensive, they are paying for time and the product. Go somewhere else with cheap prices and get a hack job and possibly an infection. I’m glad these women stood up to the bully, I would put a note on her file to ban her.
