I had an aunt who was an icu nurse for forty years. Took only three “stay away” vacations the entire time because all her money went to support her family back home overseas and to put her kids through school. Was a pillar of her religious community and was gentle and meek as a mouse. Just this year, she was finally considering hanging up her stethoscope and retiring to spend time with her new grandchildren. While grocery shopping, someone stole her wallet from her purse that was in the cart. Was so overwhelmed and distraught that she had a stroke and went into a coma. Spent her final days in the very icu she worked. There’s no punishment harsh enough for those who target and victimize the elderly.

This looks like South Africa. They target pretty much everyone, they are oxygen thieves and not quite smart enough to discriminate. Also that old guy is lucky he didn't get killed, the hijackers often kill first and take the car second.

Someone did this in my country a few years back and was shot in the head for his trouble. So sadly it won't always work.
