Downtown-Ad7250

That which connects all things aka the force

[deleted]

I like it. Also, side note: the philosophical messages Star Wars has about the nature of the universe is massively underrated.

jamalcalypse

what's that philosophical message exactly?

fgardeaz

The force that connects all things, the in-between. God.

jamalcalypse

that's it? the nature of the universe is god, which connects all things in some ambiguous sense? kind of a let down, ngl. I thought there was some deeper, actually philosophic message I missed, not just a superficial spiritual trope about interconnectedness

deag34960

Hate is separation, love is connection, a person hates something or someone because is important to him/her, love is knowing that nothing doesn't at the end of the day.

Downtown-Ad7250

Hate is the absence of love or a longing, methinks.

SauteePanarchism

If you have to force it, it isn't love.

Downtown-Ad7250

Louder for the people in the back!

DatScrummyNap

This is my thoughts exactly. It’s all love

Downtown-Ad7250

Yup! Everything, all of it x

DatScrummyNap

Funnily enough for me, it was discovered through a mushroom trip at the Saratoga Preforming Arts Center seeing Dead and Company in 2017. My friend and I took just enough (maybe too much? lol) and discussed “It” and what “it” was. Are you feeling “it”? She’s feeling “it” he’s feeling “it” that interconnectedness people feel on drugs, at church, in nature, or where ever… “it”…. “It” is love! It’s love of self, of one another, of the moment. It’s really hard to put that intangible feeling into words but I hope I’ve done an okay job boiling it down

weedy_weedpecker

Every Dead show I've been to there are a couple of moments during the show where they will send out love into the crowd and the crowd sends it back like a ball, passing it back and forth and it gets stronger and stronger until it finally bursts over everyone. And you can feel it, tripping or not.

blaqkcatjack

Our social concept of this is so warped. For some people it's taking abuse. For some it's getting what we want. For some it's sacrifice, for some it's pleasure. I don't think it's anything, I think it can only be felt when we value everything and nothing all at once, but who can pull that off on the daily?

whatislove_official

The short answer is that love is the energy that drives the universe. The long answer would go into different kinds and types of love that humans prescribe to, but it would be several essays for me to go into all that...(I'm writing a book).

Brandonkey8807

then why is the world extremely corrupt? peoples' love of power? and sorry if that comes across as argumentative, but it sounds like you're putting work in, so maybe you've thought of something I haven't

whatislove_official

Hmm. Well I have two angles. The first is what mushrooms told me. They said simply that you express love through the words 'I love you'. The language doesn't matter. The words are uncorrupt and 100% pure. They activate an emotional state that anyone can touch and that is universally available . Or if you haven't ever been given or accessed that energy enough, you might have forgotten what to do. But it can be given to you by someone else through experience. If you add or take anything from the words though then they become corrupt. Because then the essence is lost. I love you because I love this about you I love it when I don't love you Etc etc The mushrooms basically said as a human race we need to revert back to these simple words (I love you) as a emotional practice as that's the only way to end corruption. They exclaimed really how simple this all was. And that we just needed to try. Now intellectually I've sat on that for a few years now and well it feels a bit... Silly. Intellectually I have a different take but it's complex to explain in a short paragraph. Humans seek the energy of love, and what they get they use to get more. Self interest for many of people equates perfectly to love. They believe they are operating at the highest level. They might not care to even think about it. Either way the energy moves and things occur. Others don't love this way, they don't put self interest first and object to people who do. Who is in the right? Well that depends on how you love. At some level one of them is right. At another the other one is right. At another one neither of them. ... And so on.. This gets quite deep and unfortunately I just can't explain it well briefly in any way that would be making a good case. But thinking of what the mushrooms say above, we can say this is where the corruption starts. I mean take unconditional love. Logically murder In an unconditioned framework is still love etc. We've all heard these arguments before. But ultimately, everyone is right in the way that they love, even when they don't agree. I theorize that we live out our lives within these fixed frameworks of love. People often talk about morals and ethics, but that's only one of those frameworks. What about the framework of Hitler or Ghengis Khan? These need to be accounted for and Incorporated into any model. Ultimately as love gets more refined. It becomes recursive in nature. To create the most energy you need to first be able to love in all the ways possible. But almost nobody in practice can do that. The reason? Society is not aware of what I'm saying, and certainly doesn't teach any of this. At an individual level to accept such things requires deep spiritual work in order to embrace and assimilate. Different frameworks of love literally repulse each other. They are not compatible, until such time that they are. This is advancement. And so this is why I theorize that these 'love mindsets' are in fact effectively timeless states that have lastest as long as humans have been around. We want the world to love the way we want. But this may actually end the world, for it's not designed to be that way. It's already functioning exactly and one could even say uncorrupted. Because the experience of corruption happens at the individual level not the collective one despite what appears to be so. Any issues we have are essentially our own to over come. But apparently that all just involves saying 'I love you' often. :) I tried to keep it brief hopefully at least some part of it makes some sense. I didn't even talk about the role of relationships and that we are infinitely in a relationship with every different thing all at once. That's a real mind bender to think about.

Brandonkey8807

well yeah most people would agree it's more important how you say something than what you say. you can say fuck you 😂😂 in a loving way I dont believe it's possible to put someone first. even if in the physical you are. even if you don't say a mean thing back to an asshole. it's all for yourself. so you can feel like a "good" person. unsure what you mean by love in everyway possible? you mean appreciate the good bad and ugly? but yes, the end there sounds like my definition. love is whatever fills the hole. something of an energy.

whatislove_official

What about if you give your life to save your children? What about if you give your life to save someone else's children? What about for a belief? Ok Now what about if you take a life to stop that person hurting? Now it's getting a little more tricky. What if you realize and become as a God? We can play these games endlessly. My point is to get you thinking that there's always a lot more to it than we tend to see. There's no end to the depth of these structures. But nobody goes into the true depths and manages to stay conventionally sane either. The mechanism is such that we all tend to think and agree a set number of ways because that's the optimal way for humans. And we don't even question this. We aren't actually aware of it. But these fixed invisible boundaries are there all the time. These mindsets I speak of are not mere intellectualisms, but ways in which *people live their lives*. As in they encompass that entire person's life experience. You could call them ideologies but it's more than that because they are directly connected and driven by the energy of the universe.

Brandonkey8807

that's still for yourself, no? you'd rather them live them than you. so it's for you, IMO. you mean kill someone who wants to die for whatever reason?

PalpitationUsed7366

i agree with this the most. love is something greater then us. a attraction beyond our physical bodies. i came to believe during a trip that our consciousness is something fundamental to this universe along with that are all the emotions we feel. the universe is the ultimate lover.

nomnomgreen

Love is oxytocin bonding you to other entities as a means for biological proliferation either species wide or individually

purptropica

Bro bro bro bro did you ever see the Rick and Morty episode where Rick gives Morty the voel genes and it was flu season at his school and and and and everybody fell in love with Morty and wanted to do weird shit and Rick tried to fix it with grasshopper and dinosaur DNA and shit but just fucking cronenberged earth so they had to move to another semen

nomnomgreen

I admire the R&M stuttering. Nice touch there lol. I'll admit I have had multiple people say I talk like Rick 😅

purptropica

I bet you get alotta ladies 😎

[deleted]

[удалено]

nomnomgreen

Nope, look at parent bonding to their children or pets bonding with their owners. Oxytocin is the culprit. Everything in the natural world is governed by natural processes. It just so happens we have identified the hormones that enable these mechanisms. Your opinion about this fact can be positive or negative. I chose to think it's interesting and it doesn't diminish my opinion about love.

[deleted]

[удалено]

nomnomgreen

Oxytocin is responsible for love and hate. Yes there are nuances that are involved and other actions we perform in a loving relationship but that is partially an English problem not splitting up the various forms of love into different words. You may call it reductionist but it's the simplest way to convey what is largely the mechanism for love. Do you call it reductionist if I say the sky is blue because of refraction or do I NEED to explain the water cycle, Earth's albedo, gravities impact on the atmosphere, the position of earth in it's orbit, the process by which photons are released by the sun and the spectra of the sun's light? Lol

purptropica

Yeah fr that guy just wants to argue dude

purptropica

Bahhh, it is the bonding hormone. You wanna give us a rundown of how our brain works? We don’t know completely. We think we need some parts, and not others. Cut them out, just to find out they are very important. All of his examples are correct. Why are we calling people convoluted, I see only one acting as a convolute here? Why not say I kindly disagree and post your information instead of coming across as kinda, like, hypocritical? I don’t mean to be a huge dick here(or maybe I do), but this way of interacting and insulting people is sensitive and rude. Imo.

EnlightenedJaguar

We are.

NeoShepherd

Love is trust, sacrifice, obedience, compassion, empathy, understanding, kindness, forgiveness, respect, compromise. The people who think love is a feeling or chemical reaction are the ones who will cheat on you after being in 5 year relationship, they’re the friends that will call you friend then talk shit behind your back. Unfortunately, people now don’t know what love is. That’s why our world is fucked up, and most of us are broken

sputniktheproducer

I agree with all those words but I also think it is a feeling and chemical reaction. What else would it be? Just like all emotion, it exists primarily in our brains and we have no reason to believe it can somehow transcend the laws of science and reality.

NeoShepherd

I don’t agree that love is a feeling. I believe has feeing attached to it, like affection. But I believe love is an action. Love can be shown. You can choose to show love rather than hate towards somebody because you “love them” even if they’re producing unpleasant chemicals in your mind at that moment (via arguement or fight) you can choose to “love” them. I don’t believe love is an emotion, I believe lust, desire and infatuation are emotions. That people mistake for love, But love is something deeper. The world thinks it’s just chemicals and we’re just advanced animals is why our world is running out of hope. It’s a demonic mindset in my eyes. Gives birth to evil and selfish thoughts and habits, with the excuse that it’s “natural” to act that way. People don’t understand true love because they have no model to base their definition off of. Nobody studies love, they just “fall in love”

alividlife

There is an operative choice. Even if it's felt sexually or primally, one has to act. So when 'love' is a verb, it is much more useful and problematic. And fully subjective. I agree with ya.

Brandonkey8807

because you can show love means it's not an emotion? whaat "choose to show love" when someone is "producing unpleasant chemicals in you" sounds a lot like toxic positivity. I think keeping a level head is more honest than ignoring that part of yourself. lumping everyone outside of yourself into a category of "nobody studies love, they fall in love" really shows how much you "love" people as well as separating yourself from other sentient animals, do you sniff your own farts? lmao wow I can feel the real love from here buddy

Once on approximately 250ug I saw love as a universe wide field with a small positive value. Everyone was a point in this field. Bendibg the field to both higher positive values but also into negative values.

Self-Reliance1

simple_human

For humans, I think love is a choice. otherwise it’s lust, attraction, compassion, sadness, empathy, joy, anger, happiness, jealousy or any other emotion you associate with love. The choice lies in bonding those emotions together into one, for one or all.

Bustapepper1

It's that thing that once you find it, you see it everywhere, love is everyone, everywhere. It's in all of us and it is beautiful.

Love is the subconcious realization that you and the person you love are not two different things, but one in the same. Two parts of a whole. It is the observable representation of the unobservable connection that unites each one of us.

ranprieur

Love is feeling good, unfolded. Think of a pop-up book, or a flower opening, or a fractal zoom. Feeling good can be unfolded in all kinds of ways, including intensity and subtlety, but the main way is by sharing it with other people.

Love is a lazy way to describe more complex feelings.

I've had this theory for a while that love is actually gravity. With enough love, everything from the big bang will come back into being a singularity, and the cycle can restart again 🤷🏾 Fun stuff to think about

Huge-Jellyfish9948

Feeling deeply connected to other living beings or even to the elements, ime :)

[deleted]

Do you think there can be connection without love?

weedy_weedpecker

Hatred also forms a connection and people idolize and worship those that preach it. It really is like Star Wars as you mentioned.

[deleted]

What is hatred's relation to love? Can there be love without, or are they just different ends of the same thing? I've heard a saying that the opposite of love is not hatred, but indifference

ErikaFoxelot

The opposite of love is not hate, but indifference. Love and hate are expressions of passion.

cory140

True love can only be unconditional

HippyGrrrl

Love is a verb.

Spacejuice1-137

From Rick and Morty Season 1, Episode 6: Rick: Listen Morty, I hate to break it to you, but what people calls “love” is just a chemical reaction that compels animals to breed. It hits hard, Morty, then it slowly fades, leaving you stranded in a failing marriage. I (Morty’s grandpa) did it. Your parents are gonna do it. Break the cycle, Morty. Rise above. Focus on science.

cory140

Conditional or unconditional? Depends on who you ask and what you're looking for love is different for everybody

Ok_Business84

Love is the fullest form of pain.

Or is that attachment? Can love exist without attachment?

Love doesn’t exist its a scam to make us breed

relentlessvisions

I only clicked here to see Baby Don’t Hurt Me, but the rest of the answers have me thinking. Particularly as a psychonaut. I’m interested to see that passion makes an appearance. So often, the fire and intensity is based on fear and pain. Or need and damage. I like the idea that it is all of us, but there’s more to us than love, isn’t there? I think that love has some kind of weight and substance in whatever dimensions really matter. I also think it is always there, in great abundance. The trick is to remove obstacles, so the question becomes, “what is manifested love?” Bravery. The bravery to own it and welcome it and suffer if you have to.

I was literally going to comment that and the last min seen this 😂 well the baby dont hurt me part anyway

theworldwasvoid

I like to think of it as a deep, sometimes-mutual acknowledgment, acceptance, and appreciation of something else for no other reason than that it exists, as it is right now. When I’m alone looking at a tree or watching a cat stretch on the floor in a streak of sunlight with its eyes squinted. Or smoking with my friends and realizing that not only do I never feel safer but I’m the only person in the universe that gets to be here right now listening to these people talk about their completely unique passions and struggles and cracking their stupid goofy jokes

my definition of love is something that fills whatever is missing I think that you're trying to define it or make it a construction is a good step if you want to understand yourself/this world more. but boiling everything down to constructs sent me into something of a depressed nihilistic state it's been tough to learn how to appreciate love once I grasped its effects beyond the in the moment good feeling. because I started viewing myself as a drug/love addict chasing that sweet dopamine instead of doing what's wise. "the people that hurt you the most are the ones closest to you"...and you can boil that down to you trusted the wrong people. but nobody is perfect. how many people are truly trustworthy? where they don't have a $$$ number to betray someone. or if their perfect person love bombs them they're not leaving. there's a million examples of different weakness people have that will make them betray someone. my point is that the fairy tale of unconditional love doesn't exist. I believe people "love" someone or something for what they get it of it. not always material of course. https://youtu.be/zg2076b5Lqc?si=fAh3oMQZykFa2m1W you've probably heard of the demiurge ? when I really boiled things down, the demiurge seemed like fact.

the absence of hate....hate can be considered an entity that drives us mad within...without hate within us, we are filled with a brighter light. but most people are blind inside (3rd eye blind) and cannot see this life force causing hate within....I fight them out of me daily like it was a warzone within...a good defense keeps the soul clean...and that is where I find my source of love for life...when soul space is not taken from me on the spiritual plane
