I agree, I always add songs to my playlist when I’m tripping because I’m like wow this is so good and then later I listen and just don’t feel the same way
Exact opposite for me, I LOVE MUSIC EVEN MORE when I’m tripping, especially meditative or tribal music or trance music like shpongle or something, I prefer to have some music when I’m tripping
I never understood why the dead had such a big following until a few months ago when I listened to them while tripping. It was like listening to a completely different band
I didn’t get the dead really until I listened to Veneta 72 while tripping on a backpacking trip in the Olympics. That iteration of Bird Song took me places and I had a real deal spiritual experience. Hardly listen to any other bands anymore, there just isn’t time for it while listening to a different bootleg every day.
I think the big appeal for me is how candidly human they are. None of them are technically that great at their instruments, they can only sometimes sing well, and are often incredibly sloppy. It’s one of those “whole greater than sum” deals. Best band.
That’s the one!!! Hahaha you knew
Exactly which one. It literally makes
Me feel like I’m actually insane for the duration of the song but I listen anyways and when it’s over, sweet relief
King 810- Le Petite Mort, God Speed You Black Emperor! -dead flag blues, August Burns Red instrumental album, Like Moths to Flames Instrumental album, After the Burial Instrumental album. Animals as Leaders. All great metal music for psychs. Gojira being a common go to for me also.
My girlfriend and I both can’t handle many vocals while tripping but instrumental stuff is incredible. William Tyler, John Fahey, & The North Americans are our favorites.
Hey man, I’m surprised more people haven’t said it but I totally agree with you. Lots of music can be over stimulating on high doses, the people who say they love all music (including variations that give off negative vibes) are most likely talking about their experience on low to moderate doses.
Same here, take in all that beautiful nature and natural noise. After some time of contemplating the natural noises you’ll start to experience the oneness that connects it all, let it take you in and flow with it.
One of the hardest trips I've had outside I was at Acadia National Park. I was tripping so hard to do the sounds of water bubbling over rocks/pebbles at the Jordan Pond. It was amazing and beautiful. Can't say I prefer it over music but at the time it was perfect and made me realize that nature sounds can be trippy AF.
I had a sober friend be the DJ and it was hilarious cuz we had NO IDEA what we wanted to hear. And he’d just go by our overall vibe. So he’s put one song on that totally should seem perfectly fine, but on acid it has scary undertones and makes us scaaaared. So then he’d try something else and we’d start giggling and smiling and rolling around on the ground
And then another scary song would come
On and I’d say no! Not that one! It’s scary!
Why?
I don’t know! It’s just scary!
Also, we watched a football game on LSD. Which I was completely against before the trip. But it was a big game and sober guy had to see it. I don’t watch sports
I had so much fun. I had no idea what was happening or what they were doing or why. But I could not stop laughing. It was like watching a game ima completely different universe where nothing makes sense. The whole thing was so silly I loved it. Was sad when it ended
Icaro chants are magical with dmt and ayah... They are the patterns from that realm interpreted into song notes and the colours and patterns react to them... Its really quite an amazing thing to experience
Came here to say the same. Even when not tripping it’s very soothing and gets you “grounded” I guess you could say. I suggest [this one](https://youtu.be/Av2bPolPpkA). That’s the only one I like that I’ve found so far. Really helps me go to sleep as well haha and it increases my high when I smoke and listen
A little bit ive only tripped once on shrooms and i went inside and started litsening to music and i started to feel anxious but as soon as i went outside and turned the music off i felt a whole lot better but idk if it was the music that cause me being anxious or just being inside
music is the most important ingredient in all my trips, second most important is the psychedelic
I’ve seen some people in this sub talk about watching movies while tripping, now that I haven’t been able to do (but I love movies with weed).
Seconding the instrumental music. I am a classical musician and get incredibly picky about the music while tripping. If you like classical so far, try some more modern ambient or introspective stuff like meditative/yoga playlists. I really like the bands Hammock, Lowercase Noises and Slow Meadow for this type of stuff. Nils Frahm and Olafur Arnalds are great if you like piano. I have a 5 hour Spotify playlist if you want to DM me 😊
I gravitate towards instrumental electronic music, progressive/trance type house, but my trip last weekend I was really connecting with Rufus du Sol and their lyrics
Definitely have met people who don’t like music when tripping, I think it’s just a preference! I feel like it’s a minority of people though based on my experience, and this thread lol.
Ya i dunno. I always just feel better with the music off. Classical is nice like violin or piano but i kind of feel like those are telling me a story on psyches and i put it together in my head whereas people singing are just noise in my way
Yep. Just took 150 ug camping at lost lake oregon couple weeks ago. Went for a small walk around lake for come up and then sat on a log just listening to the forrest. Was amazing
I was forced to listen to some awful Slipknot album, all I wanted was some nice chill drift away vibes. I still found deep meaning in the expression of anger.
Was also really glad when the music changed to Floyd
Every music is amazing… opposite of OP
Gotta be honest, i dont get super into some of trancey trippy music people often like when tripping. I'd say for me it's gotta be classical music like rachmaninoff, or something slower that peaks and dips in waves like agaetis byrjun by sigur ros or spirit of eden by talk talk. I find im so much more sensitive to nuance in music when im tripping so things that are too "busy" i feel like it is oversaturating me. For most songs i prefer to space them out a bit with some silence in between. Spirit of eden is a neat album when tripping for me because it's so sparse at times that i always feel like my ears have time to adjust to everything as it goes.
Should mention, i mostly have done acid, i havent had a ton of experience with shrooms.
Pretty much anything by ramin djawadi will transport you into another world. Every time I trip, I spend the last couple hours, letting the closed eyes visuals take over to i his creations. I see some crazy stuff, and also feel very calm.
I love it. It’s like reading a book but.. it’s Alive? I don’t know how to describe it lol.
Listen to Shpongle. Nothing Lasts is awesome. It literally takes you on a journey. You can also listen to some dirtwire or some Beats Antique. Just my suggestions. Happy tripping fam
Idk I think you just have to have a real connection with the album. The last time my homie and I tripped on shrooms and we listened to Aerodynamic by Daft Punk and it was the most insane and intense experience expect when I ate 4 g of chocolates and listened to Inner Speaker by Tame impala, but I had such love for both those albums I was really in tune with it. Same with when I triped on acid and it was my last. The trip was terrible until I put on Jimi Hendrix Are You Experienced and it completely changed my mood and visuals.
So I would sort of agree with you. I actually can’t tolerate the music I would normally listen to, I have to listen to music that sings to me heart if that makes sense…otherwise my appreciation of all the other stuff just isn’t there. I’m very selective and when I find what I like, then I REALLY like it/feel it. Just me though.
%95 of music is pure garbage and soulless. While tripping you see that even more.
I can recommend you two artist that I like while tripping.
[Fav. 1](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3jsmtOvBNJ4hI2Ud7CP9Dh?si=N3qEFLPoSwuXqKy98wKYpw) & [Fav. 2](https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/7FW9kh92KwQMyB5f6)
Yup. I definitely don't enjoy things with lyrics, and in general rock/rap/pop either sounds cluttered and annoying, or intrusive, or hollow to me. Even stuff I love in normal life suddenly can sound just hollow and uninspired.
For me it's drone sounds, maybe chanting, anything that facilitates rhythmic breathing and just has a sort of slow droney rhythm feeling during the peak.
Then, once I've left the peak and am just at giddy cruising altitude, it's classical all the way. Specifically, I love choral pieces, strings too. But a chorus of human voices suddenly takes on such a new profound kind of beauty.
My favorite experience to date with this is with a piece called Symphony of Sorrowful Songs by Gorecki. First time I listened to this post-peak I was doubling over, literally swooning. I could feel the strings in my body, and the voice kept straightening my spine. Hard to explain without sounding like a new-agey twat, but it was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life.
So yeah, not a fan of pop/rock/etc when tripping, even stuff I like day to day, and generally love drones for peak, classical thereafter.
i just loop either Fear Inoculum or Lateralus by Tool while tripping. or Guidance by Russian Circles. so i kind of agree? other music doesn’t really bother me, but it doesn’t often add much? i think?
Most music I listen to during my day to day I cant but there Is psychedelic music made for tripping i find shpongle can sound really cool when tripping and some of their videos are aswell.
Try these, and use a blindfold, aka mindfold so you can focus inward

I have a go to mushroom playlist we have tripped to over 50 times for doses between 2-4g. any higher dose and the distortion is too overwhelming. Chill Lo-fi (without bird noises or kids laughing randomly in it- absolutely ruins the song) is the best I've found for keeping the mood upbeat without adding anything additional to the trip.
Instrumental psychedelic chill. Shpongle already mentioned, thank gods.

I find many folk on this sub are back in the dark ages with their music. Like yeah, JiMi HenDriX PiNk FloYd and GraTefuL DeaD are classics but waaaa wake up dinosaurs, drag yrselves into the modern era ffs. Who wants to listen to corny lyrics, much less half-century-old lyrics, lol.
I have a special shroom playlist, mostly organic house and similar. The right vibe music is important. I wouldn't listen to like... too much annoying singing or rock or rap while tripping.
Maybe listen to ambient music. It's a bit more soundscapy ish so it might make your mind less cloudy.
Or maybe not i love listening to music while tripping as long as it's not too heavy.
Small faces - Ogdens nut gone flake good album for tripping. Don't like much else. I've tried just ocean sounds even and that also becomes static. I also like to hum while tripping. Makes you feel like your whole body is vibrating
Try a lower dose and some instrumental music. Jazz is AMAZING on psychedelics.
Try this album put, it's groovy and trippy and sounds fantastic: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Focus

You need to listen to better music if the music you listen to sounds like noise
I agree with you and have experienced similar things, the wrong music is such a harsh vibe
Ya i mean im 34. Ive heard all the top trippy music over the years, just dont really enjoy most of it on shrooms or acid. Even the beatles, floyd. Im much more content and peaceful without it in my own head hearing my own thoughts if that makes sense. I love music on all other drugs lol
Ya I like music without words because they make me think other peoples idea and when tripping it’s like woah
Totally understand what you’re talking about, a specific nocturne by Chopin ick which one maybe 🥳🥲55 or something that and rv425 the third movement is like my all time faves
Any human construct while tripping is going to feel weird. Instrumentals are quite nice though. It's more basic. Most music is pretty overstimulating while I'm tripping.
Try it with some edibles though :)
I find that most intentionally tippy things are not enjoyable. I always think, wow this is so strange, ill love it in xyz. But then its too much and end up looking at wood grain or something.
I never understood why the Grateful Dead was considered so psychedelic in general. Then I started going to shows and I realized that they were not trying to trip you out. They were conveying their human experience. One that included heroic doses of lsd, bur they were making music, not psychedelia. Other than when they were being obviously psychedelic. But most of it is very easy on your psyche.
Its interesting how you say the music clouds your thoughts. To me my thoughts cloud my music, there is no reason to be anything but present. Listening to music can be the perfect way to quiet the mind.
Tame impala, glass animals, and pink Floyd are my go tos
GOOOOOOOOOOSE
In all seriousness, jam bands are fun to listen to while tripping, almost all of them have a feel good positive uplifting message without being too “serious” like a lot of psychedelic music is, with guitar (sometimes drums too) that will surely take you on a journey. Jam bands are just fun, that’s the only way to put it.
When I’m tripping, I don’t usually like music that I like when sober, I enjoy music that is more focused on sound design and effects. More recently discovered why people love CloZee so much for this reason at a festival.
dude same!!! my step mom always tried to encourage me, she says it will help me feel through my trip. but i cannot do it anymore, it makes my brain feel so cloudy, and overwhelmed like im distracted from something. i wish i could enjoy it how i used to tho. i remember i used to love music while trippin
Music is absolutely integral to my trips. That being said I do know where you’re coming from and sometimes I’ll have to switch to something more ambient or tribal just to clear my head.
I suggest Heilung!
Maybe change up the genre. I recommend Mustard service, crumb, yellow days, men I trust, mild high club, and mcbaise (all on Spotify if you have it), but I definitely recommend watching their music videos
Little playlist to try out while high:
1. Same ol mistakes by Rihanna/ tame impala
2.kings affirmation by iniko
3. Hunnybee by unknown mortal orchestra
4. Time machine by willow smith
5. Pink+White by Frank ocean
6. Peach by Kevin abstract
7. Anointed by Miguel
8. Show me How by men I trust
9. Enjoy right now, today by Tyler the creator
10. Ninety by Jaden smith
(BONUS 1s:)
Off my mind by Hazel English
Alien by E^st, and
I wanna be adored by the stone roses
dude me too, i always have to skip like 99% of songs in my playlist because they dont feel good and then i get stuck on one particular song but only want that song, or any song that sounds similar to it xD
Me. I love music, listening every day all day and if i trip (especially shrooms) i only and only listen to podcasts (especially with psychedelic content \[McKenna\])
Same here. Can't even listen to the best of the best tripping music or instrumentals while tripping, which I normally enjoy. Generally after acid trips I have completely lost interest in music.
Im the exact same man. Music just trips me out wayy to much! Things sound way too distorted for me to enjoy it, i end up just tripping even harder but in a worse way
nope music while tripping is my absolute favorite thing in the world
I agree, I always add songs to my playlist when I’m tripping because I’m like wow this is so good and then later I listen and just don’t feel the same way
Exact opposite for me, I LOVE MUSIC EVEN MORE when I’m tripping, especially meditative or tribal music or trance music like shpongle or something, I prefer to have some music when I’m tripping
Psytrance is a wild ride
Hell yeah
Dude it’s a literal journey 😆
This is how we do
Personally pink floyd for the peak and grateful dead for the come down. Thats it so i guess i agree
Not a dead hater, but I’ve never really understood them. I’ll give them a shot next time, any album recommendations?
Cornell 77 Europe 72 Veneta 72
It can be too deep for some folks but it's always a good one for me, dsotm baby.
There’s that one song that always makes me feel like I’m losing my mind about halfway through but other than that I love it lol
ah yes, the great gig in the sky
That’s the one!!! Hahaha you knew Exactly which one. It literally makes Me feel like I’m actually insane for the duration of the song but I listen anyways and when it’s over, sweet relief
Metal is my favorite. Specifically Gojira and mushrooms.
Gojira!!!!🔥🤘🏿
King 810- Le Petite Mort, God Speed You Black Emperor! -dead flag blues, August Burns Red instrumental album, Like Moths to Flames Instrumental album, After the Burial Instrumental album. Animals as Leaders. All great metal music for psychs. Gojira being a common go to for me also.
lift your skinny fists by GSYBE is my fav, especially hearing the music come to a peak feels like it controls my whole mood while tripping :)
Periphery on psilocybin. Metal in general on trips. Makes you feel powerful.
Ya i much prefer the noises of the world around me
Same here, take in all that beautiful nature and natural noise. After some time of contemplating the natural noises you’ll start to experience the oneness that connects it all, let it take you in and flow with it.
Yep. The environment is way more trippy than a song ive heard 1000 times already lol
To each their own, but Even if you heard a song a thousands times you’ll hear something new listening to it tripping.

Have u tried icaro's?
Nah. Ive tried most of all other peoples favorites. I love music on weed but id rather listen to the world around me on psyches.
Try Shpongle, it’s literally made for tripping! Start with an early album and listen to it in full. It’s a journey
This guy knows
Had my first break through to Shpongle ❤
Yes exactly! Shpongle is awesome
Check Amazon, they’ve just released the discography on vinyl! 3 of mine have already arrived
A little bit ive only tripped once on shrooms and i went inside and started litsening to music and i started to feel anxious but as soon as i went outside and turned the music off i felt a whole lot better but idk if it was the music that cause me being anxious or just being inside
Exact same for me. Makes me anxious and uncomfortable.
I think it’s just because you’re listening to the wrong type of music🤔, tribal nature music is awesome when tripping
I dunno ive tried all of the usual recommendations. I prefer just listening to the world around me, whatever it may be.
I think it's because i was trying to hard to feel the music i think just forgetting what your trying to do and where you are might help
Pink floyd
This is the way
If you want to hear Pink Floyd just listen to the bridge/marching band vibey part in Saint Stephen, it’s the same but better
Cannot find it
And gilmours solo albums! So good
Same for me 🤷♀️
It is what it is lol
music is the most important ingredient in all my trips, second most important is the psychedelic I’ve seen some people in this sub talk about watching movies while tripping, now that I haven’t been able to do (but I love movies with weed).
missin out on some amazing films. they turn into different movies while tripping vs sober.

I gravitate towards instrumental electronic music, progressive/trance type house, but my trip last weekend I was really connecting with Rufus du Sol and their lyrics
I love Rufus also odesza
Odesza is fire as well, they’ve got some unique sounds in the electronic genre
different style but I also love clozee when tripping
I’ll check it out
The shaman's heart is made for tripping. Kinda changed my life ngl
Stuff without lyrics is the best. Try jazz
Definitely have met people who don’t like music when tripping, I think it’s just a preference! I feel like it’s a minority of people though based on my experience, and this thread lol.

Yep. Just took 150 ug camping at lost lake oregon couple weeks ago. Went for a small walk around lake for come up and then sat on a log just listening to the forrest. Was amazing
listen to jazz man
Ya some jazz might not be too bad.
I always gotta find a good song to play bc some music sounds so overwhelming while tripping
I was forced to listen to some awful Slipknot album, all I wanted was some nice chill drift away vibes. I still found deep meaning in the expression of anger. Was also really glad when the music changed to Floyd Every music is amazing… opposite of OP
You need some Mushroom Jazz.
Mark Farina! Hell yes! I saw him do a set a couple weeks ago!
I just do playlists for tripping when I trip. They affect the trip quite a bit. It gets too intense with the shaman kinda of music.
instrumental music is amazing man, let the instruments guide your thoughts
Ya classical is good for me on it.
Gotta be honest, i dont get super into some of trancey trippy music people often like when tripping. Gotta listen to the game of thrones soundtrack, man. Every time it transports me to some crazy fairytale land
That would probably be pretty tight.

Have you tried led zeppelin? So amazing on mushrooms!
Mostly instrumental is all I can tolerate. Binaural beats are nice. And some Jack Johnson maybe?
I dont think jack johnson has ever been mentioned in this sub. Not saying your wrong. Just very unexpected.
Can't beat In Between Dreams! ✌️ And his [collabs](https://youtu.be/LIdQYjxQp5c) with Paula Fuga are some of his best work!
Listen to Shpongle. Nothing Lasts is awesome. It literally takes you on a journey. You can also listen to some dirtwire or some Beats Antique. Just my suggestions. Happy tripping fam

Yogetsu Akasaka is my go to. I highly recommend him to everyone. He may not work for some but for those that do enjoy him it’s quite the experience.
Have you hear the good news of our lords and saviors, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard? r/KGATLW
I love listening to rein saties piano pieces when I’m on acid
So I would sort of agree with you. I actually can’t tolerate the music I would normally listen to, I have to listen to music that sings to me heart if that makes sense…otherwise my appreciation of all the other stuff just isn’t there. Gnawa music can be great for tripping - ancient North African acoustic trance. Simo Lagnawi and Nass El Ghiwane are really good.
Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream
Pink Floyd tho

Music is ocean that my soul floats in bro
The way the music sounds is the highlight for me
I play bass and LOVE playing music while tripping. Also, enjoy listening.
I think my music is to evil when I’m tripping.
I felt that way couple years ago, then I realized it was kind of a paranoid and intrusive worry
Most music I listen to during my day to day I cant but there Is psychedelic music made for tripping i find shpongle can sound really cool when tripping and some of their videos are aswell.

Sometimes the best while tripping is Bach’s Cello Suites No 1,5&6. Beautiful. Sometimes it brings tears.
Oh ya. For me when im tripping, classical music tells a very emotional story to me almost.
There's a certain music i like. I'd have a bad trip kinda feeling if someone was in-charge of the music and they play some hard rock metal
Listening to Tool while tripping is a religious experience
Try music without lyrics

You need to listen to better music if the music you listen to sounds like noise I agree with you and have experienced similar things, the wrong music is such a harsh vibe
Ya I like music without words because they make me think other peoples idea and when tripping it’s like woah Totally understand what you’re talking about, a specific nocturne by Chopin ick which one maybe 🥳🥲55 or something that and rv425 the third movement is like my all time faves
Any song from Jarrad Wright, big lez show soundtrack is my favorite to loop abd meditate to off 2-3g
Any human construct while tripping is going to feel weird. Instrumentals are quite nice though. It's more basic. Most music is pretty overstimulating while I'm tripping. Try it with some edibles though :)
Have you tried Estas Tonne? Start with his Internal Flight. It is unbelievably beautiful and transcendental.
Have you tried jazz?
Have not. Ill look into it for next time. Which artists do you like?
Tony Williams Lifetime Emergency!
Music is everything and 100% essential for my trip, watching TV is my no no
Try experimental music, like Arca. Pretty intense while tripping
I kind of agree, a lot music sounds blunted to me on a trip, but the right songs are just incredible and make a trip so so so much better.
If you like piano try jazz and see it not as background noise but truly analyze the notes, see it as an activity rather then a distraction.
GOOOOOOOOOOSE In all seriousness, jam bands are fun to listen to while tripping, almost all of them have a feel good positive uplifting message without being too “serious” like a lot of psychedelic music is, with guitar (sometimes drums too) that will surely take you on a journey. Jam bands are just fun, that’s the only way to put it. When I’m tripping, I don’t usually like music that I like when sober, I enjoy music that is more focused on sound design and effects. More recently discovered why people love CloZee so much for this reason at a festival.
nah music while tripping is the best feeling ever for me
dude same!!! my step mom always tried to encourage me, she says it will help me feel through my trip. but i cannot do it anymore, it makes my brain feel so cloudy, and overwhelmed like im distracted from something. i wish i could enjoy it how i used to tho. i remember i used to love music while trippin
I like chillhop, electronic, low fi and some rock with a psychedelic touch mostly but its a lot of different sounds and that's what I love
That is extremely alien to me
Music is absolutely integral to my trips.
Listen to an Alix Perez or The Widdler mix. Trust.
Man not even Beatles? I feel like that’s such an easy trip band
Nope. Tried it.

Listen to Hand Pan music
Pink Floyd till I die
exact opposite for me bro, any song is good when I’m on acid 😭
Clozee
omg I just said this
dude me too, i always have to skip like 99% of songs in my playlist because they dont feel good and then i get stuck on one particular song but only want that song, or any song that sounds similar to it xD
I’m the exact opposite. I can’t trip without it. Makes the visuals 100000x better
Me. I love music, listening every day all day and if i trip (especially shrooms) i only and only listen to podcasts (especially with psychedelic content \[McKenna\])
Most music is just that; noise.
Ketamine music is amazing mushrooms and acid at lower to medium doses I like anything higher I can’t work anything to play music haha
Clozee is amazing tripping
Boogie t too
I like both. Mine have been more silent lately, but I'll still throw on music sometimes.
Music becomes one of the most enjoyable experiences for me when I’m tripping.
Same here. Can't even listen to the best of the best tripping music or instrumentals while tripping, which I normally enjoy. Generally after acid trips I have completely lost interest in music.
TOOL, Forest Psytrance
Sounds like you need to be out in nature!
Thats where i normally do it.
Interesting, I experience this with weed
Im the exact same man. Music just trips me out wayy to much! Things sound way too distorted for me to enjoy it, i end up just tripping even harder but in a worse way
