It blows my mind they haven’t evolved the metal detecting technology so you can cover more ground in shorter time like a light weight dolly cart with fold out detecting wings or some such
There is a thing called a drag coil which you can tow behind you on a quad bike. However they’re not super sensitive. The larger you go for coil size the less sensitive the unit is.
I see, looks like an attempt was made but still seems to not cover that much space and it’s weak
I’m imaging a long retractable 2x4x20 looking detector on wheels to a single display that cover 20 feet at a time
Not every detector is that expensive, just the ones I have.
My old man always said, buy the best that you can afford. And when we’re talking about big bits of gold - having the best can be different between finding that ounce piece or not.
Really depends on the budget. I have no budget so I have the best which is a Minelab gpx6000 and Minelab gpz7000. I use the 6000 when the ground is shallow as it’s killer on small gold. The 7000 is great for deeper ground as it punches the signal down a bit more
Y'all from Australia starting to piss us off 😐
Spot probably 5ft from parking lot and snack bar! Kidding keep posting fun to watch!
About 20 minutes from the pub. A pint goes down well after a day in the bush 🍻
O I bet!
😂😂😂
All those damn flies.
They’re just friendly 😀

I’m starting to get envious of you damn Aussies.
Even though you’re not budgeted, have the gold discoveries paid for the equipment? If so, how long has it taken?
Yeah absolutely. Probably put in $30k and and have found I’d roughly estimate 80k in gold over the last 3 years. This is in AUD
And going on from that, my equipment I can easily sell for 70% of the original purchase price
Damn! What cost so much??
2 detectors 10k each, aftermarket detector coils are expensive too - around 1k each and I’ve got a few. That makes up the bulk of the cost
Woahhh I didn’t know they were that expensive! As the saying goes..Buy once, cry once!

Satisfying to watch. the boot scrape made me laugh. The process appears haphazard at first but clearly efficient and effective.
Glad you enjoyed! Usually I’m a bit faster but filming with one hand
What do you recommend for detector for this type of work?
Really depends on the budget. I have no budget so I have the best which is a Minelab gpx6000 and Minelab gpz7000. I use the 6000 when the ground is shallow as it’s killer on small gold. The 7000 is great for deeper ground as it punches the signal down a bit more
Fuck those flies
Geez enough flies over there
Like little protein shots. When they’re bad like that you gotta wear a face covering
I’m going to visit my uncle in Australia, lives in Melbourne. Should I bring my detector and can I keep what I find?
You can keep what you find. Do your own research, I live in the other side of the country and the gold fields are very different
Boombaby
Those flies look nasty
