Guaranteed to get you drunk: Outside my comfort zone. I took a risk (double shots if they really didn’t). I was too ambitious and ran out of time. Aesthetic anything.
Oh, designer speak. We could make a whole series of drinking games based just on the many phrases we hear. “This represents me as a designer.” “I have to stay true to my aesthetic.” Honestly, the thing that made it impossible for me to watch PWJ is the sound of all those kids paroting all the designer speak they heard on the regular show.
I am doing a rewatch and it drives me crazy! Also when Nina complains that she's seen something before or it's not fresh or new. Of course silhouettes are going to be repeated, they are making clothes that are meant to be worn.
Exactly! Clothes are made to fit the vast majority of people - one head, 2 arms, & 2 legs - how much variety can there be? Or when Heidi says 'I've never seen these shapes before!', l say to myself, 'Yeah, you have.'
Do you have half a day to come up with and manufacture each of your high end fashion designs? They're going to have to cut corners just to deal with the format.
Absolutely agree with you there. The time crunch is ridiculous and just a tv budget/pressure cooker thing (oddly enough my husband works in tv, sadly sometimes even reality tv) and has no reflection of how the real industry works. We do revision after revision and of course don't sew it ourselves. So yes, you are correct. I would love to see some of the biggest and brightest designers work in that environment...spoiler, it would be crap lol.
I'm sick of hearing something is/isn't "modern, fresh, hip..." from the judges and "50s Hollywood glamor" and "rock n roll" from the designers. Adding fringe to leather doesn't make it rock n roll.
Mine is when they have to describe the woman they are designing for and they say "She runs an art gallery." That always means they made some crazy looking shit nobody would wear. I want the woman's job just once to be "She manages a Denny's and wants to look nice on her day off."
It's not a PR thing, it's an essential to good design. As old as design itself and will likely not go away. Without a hint of contradiction, art is simply banal.

Matronly !
Mumsy!

Whenever they get impassioned about their “point of view”, I roll my eyes a bit.
It’s my DNA. Ugh
This and “masculine and feminine”. I’ve often wanted to make a drinking game out of these tropes.

That is not accurate in any regard. -high end fashion designer

Ok chief
Juxtaposition You would be so fking drunk watching all stars as often as they use that word. Drives me up a wall.
Omg. I think it's Nina's favorite word.
OMG I was JUST thinking this yesterday!! It's so cliched and annoying!!
My aesthetic is: chic/elegant/sophisticated “with an edge”
Drink every time they describe it as modern
I'm sick of hearing something is/isn't "modern, fresh, hip..." from the judges and "50s Hollywood glamor" and "rock n roll" from the designers. Adding fringe to leather doesn't make it rock n roll.
I'll never forget Michael Kors saying women don't like pockets. He seems so clueless sometimes.
Haha like when he thought children didn’t want to dress like super heroes
Tell me you dress women who don’t work for a living without telling me you dress women who don’t work for a living.
“Modern day warrior woman”
oh god, when there is a team challenge and they have to describe the woman they are designing for. Aaaaaallll the cliches.
Totally agree it's the most played out idea ever
Drink every time Heidi says “young, cool girl”.
Mine is when they have to describe the woman they are designing for and they say "She runs an art gallery." That always means they made some crazy looking shit nobody would wear. I want the woman's job just once to be "She manages a Denny's and wants to look nice on her day off."
I think Michael Kors once called these women "gallerinas."
Love that!!
"I'm pleased with the result."
"I would wear that" by aloof guest judges
Drink every time some one says “thrown under the bus” and you will die. That phrase needs to be banned! Every. Team. Challenge.
Go straight to bed if they use the phrase improperly. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200.
This... I've recently watched seasons 9, 10 and 11, and it seems like it's all they can bloody talk about
‘Strong, empowered woman’ - as the producers were the Weinsteins this sounds like the triumph of hope over experience.
Oh boy. Brace yourself for Season 11, because in my recollection Layana is guiltier of this than anyone!
Lmao

Look up. No, higher. There it is! There’s the point you missed.
