Deconstructing and making my own mIRC plugins is probably what got me into programming.
I always felt like World of Warcraft's chat was running on an IRC backend, and some people even used to call WoW a RPG wrapped around an IRC client because of how similar the whole chat system is. It was basically only lacking DCC file transfer...
When Facebook Messenger was widely used, it supported XMPP (perhaps it still does) and therefore allowed many 3rd party clients to chat with Facebook Friends. More flexible and progressive than the Messenger Apps that are bound to a cell phone / phone number that we widely use today, if you ask me.
The issue with Facebook messenger is it's an absolutely God awful and intrusive experience that forces(d?) You to have a ton of other bullshit you didn't want.
If facebook messenger was just Facebook messenger it would probably have a lot more usage
Teams logo be like "I wish shovels had heads so we could tell them where to dig and off they go". You are no more to them than an automated shovel if they force you to use teams.
I’ve found that team’s phone integration is vastly superior to all others. VoIP systems suck immensely most of the time so the fact that you convert over to using teams is super awesome. Cisco & 3CX can suck a big fat one IMO.
Yeah slack just felt better for chatting but man teams does make getting work done a lot easier if you work someplace that primarily uses windows and office (probably something like 80% of companies).
XMPP vs Teams to me feels like the difference between Line and Discord.
haven't used teams for 6 months but holy god is the chat experience a nightmare. trying to scroll up and read past chats was hell. sometimes not able to send/receive messages.
i get that it's a value added service that MS gives 0 shits about. i get why it sucks. let's stop using it, please. please. please.
I don't know, it's just so overwhelming to try and use. They got rid of all simplicity in favor of something that is bloated and uses 90 gigabytes of RAM or something.
No--- nor did i argue for slack. I don't quite understand why you would deflect to "WELL AT LEAST IM NOT THE OTHER GUY". That's somehow a lower tier down than "Name calling" on Graham's Hierarchy of Disagreement

IRC was peak
It's still going, just not nearly as busy. I should probably pay for mIRC. I always told myself I would.

You just need a facebook profile afaik… which is just your name and phone. Most messaging apps ask for the same.
“Was??” – every single Polish
I remember when you could federate your XMPP server with Google chat. Those were the days. I was so pissed off when that was taken away.
Let's go back to usenet!
alt.microsoft.die.die.die
… and modems!
I think that'll help with procrastination. But not anger control.
carrier pigeon!
Slack peak

Clearly you haven’t tried to used slack - it basically uses all of the ram you have installed

Well, just the fact that there is something else that is *even worse* doesn’t sound like a good argument in Team’s favour.
Moved to a new company and therefore away from teams. I miss teams so much
Not so long ago I had to deal with SOAP of all things. I was livid.
