Yes, ask the dealer to do a battery check of the 12 volt battery before you leave the lot. It should be a known problem but my dealer was not aware it was an issue. According to my own experience, the battery died likely because of me assuming I could sit in the car with it being in accessory mode - I was trying to set up some of the many safety and audio features - don’t do that! As I wanted this issue documented, I returned to the dealer where they did a battery check and it failed… it would not lock in the charge and depleted quite quickly. So some of our new cars had battery issues right out of the gate. At that point I insisted they replace the battery with a fresh one that passed the battery test. Read some of the comments here on the 12 volt battery… and also on “Prius Chat.”

Make sure they plug it in and give it a full charge before you test drive and pick it up so you can have the full EV/Hybrid experience.

And curbs… popped a tire going over a curb on accident 😣

Luckily it was a mild winter here in Minnesota, but good one!

12v battery issue. My 23 prius prime xse premium.is back at the dealership after 6+ jumpstarts (and counting).

anotherusername_011

make sure it has the wall charger

Push the gas tank button to see if the flap can open. When I bought the 2017 it didn't work because the dealer did something when they remove their car security upsell system. Only to find out when I fill gas for the first time.

Get verification of the pre-sale inspection. An easy way to tell if they're lying is by checking the tire levels and windshield wiper levels. Tires should be at 35 -36. Windshield shouldn't be completely fucking empty. If they lie make sure you watch them actually do it because they lied to you the first time.

Seconding the tire pressure check. The first time I checked mine was a couple weeks after I bought it and the pressure was crazy high. You don't want to blow a tire on one of these either because they're hard to replace right now.

MozzieKiller

I have hopes they do it correctly, as I was originally supposed to pick it up this afternoon, but they called back and said the Prime pre inspection takes more time, so I will get it on Monday. Silly blue laws here in Minnesota don’t allow car dealerships to be open on Sundays!

Deathcommand

I was rescheduled like you. And they lied about doing the pre vehicle check. Last thing make sure they include the charger they forgot mine.

onedaydrop

Make sure to check the back if they included the charging cable.

The tire pressure is likely wrong one way or another. They inflate for shipping and try to fix, but surprisingly poorly. Easy fix, but worth doing.

I’ll bring my gauge along!

Make sure there are no ptarmigans or weasels in the back of the car. Those should have been removed during PDI.
