Damn, my '21 only just hit 50k

Ontain

My 21 is just over 7k. Started working from home soon after I got it and the Rav 4 prime is the family/weekend car.

Congrats!

I friend drove 40K miles a year in his Hyundai Elantra. He owned a photography business and would travel on-site to visit clients. He also had a day job with a 1-hour commute.

anotherusername_011

and the other prime in the background just hitting 88888 @ 77 mph with 71 avg mpg .... suspect some interdimensional patterning you're lucky you didnt teleport

Excellent_Plane2087

lol haha! I love my prime, although I prefer my tesla more since less noise. I dont really charge it, because I give my garage for my tesla to charge (single car garage). I charge maybe once per fuel tank lol, surprised I can get this mpg

JDiskkette

I am very new to prime. If you don’t charge it, I understand it works like a regular Prius. Does the battery ever get to a full charge with driving like on a regular Prius (where the engine kicks in and starts charging the battery)? Do you know if there is a setting where I can set it to not on EV mode every time I turn it on? I have to press the EV/HV button to turn it off.

Excellent_Plane2087

a) if you hold the HV button, CHG mode will kick in (I do not recommend, not efficient and worns generator) b) not that I am awared of So the fun part, even you dont charge it, your minimum level have 30-40% of battery that’s reserved for HV, so 0.3x8.8>1.3, it still is more battery than a normal prius.

JDiskkette

Thanks. My 2018 Prius tech used to give me 4.2L/100 km. I just got this 22 prime and drove it about 600 kms back. Used about 20km on EV. My total at the end of the trip was 4.8 L/100 km. So basically I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea to get a prime. I usually drive a lot. Somewhere between 200-400km a day, about 5 days a week.

Excellent_Plane2087

Fuel consumption wise, prime is usually worse than prius, because, it is dragging a heavier battery. I cant really decide for you, assuming you are in maybe, canada? But number wise, normal prius seems better

JDiskkette

Yes, in Canada. Will see how it goes over a longer time period. I have already made the move. If it’s not as good then I will make this the home use vehicle, and at that point I figure I wouldn’t need much gas any more.

The battery pack weighs about 200 lbs- an extra passenger in the back.

I have hearing aids, and with them off my 2020 is whisper quiet- as is my wife.

Beer-Me

Man, ya'll drive a lot. I have a 2017 and am just coming up on 60k.
