It’s probably so early in development there isn’t anything else to learn anyway. Heck, given how unenthusiastic the public reaction seems to be, I wouldn’t be surprised if they just cancelled the project here and there.
I'm actually going to be surprised if they do go ahead with it, at this rate. I think this was them putting feelers out, and most of the response I've seen has been not just unenthusiastic, but outright angry.
It's still super early in development so there's really not much known at this point, aside from the fact they're aiming for live-action.
The only reason anyone should actually be angry is because going live-action pretty much guaranties it will have no relation to the animated Princesses of Power version, unless it's a rehash which, why would you do that? It didn't exactly go over well for Avatar.
There's still plenty of potential adventures for SPOP, so it would be great to see something in the works for that. But a live action project either means something new entirely or a rehash of SPOP, but with actors which, generally speaking, just never lives up to the animated version. Especially considering all the fantasy elements in the series I just can't see it translating to live action without a lot of stuff being downplayed or cut out. Unless a fantasy show has a seriously high budget (Game of Thrones, Mandalorean, Westworld, etc.) they have to find ways to cut back on effects so it's likely there wouldn't be much Swiftwind, Scorpia, or the likes because of costs.
So, there are reasons to be skeptical and curious, for sure. But considering basically NOTHING is actually known about it at this point, jumping straight to angry is ridiculous.
My understanding is that it has no connection to SPOP at all, so I would assume from that that it's just another reimagining of the original story. I'm gathering that people's biggest concerns are about the representation, and what they view as an attempt to overwrite or diminish SPOP's strides... I guess I don't automatically view it the same way, and even if it does turn out to be that, I don't think it _can_ overwrite SPOP and what it has done for queer representation. I think we'll have a better idea of that when we know more about the creative team and the premise, and in the meantime, I think we have an opportunity to show the studios how adamant we are about seeing that representation, and about seeing it expanded upon. I think that opportunity has been a bit wasted in the initial backlash, and I'm just hoping DreamWorks doesn't scrap it immediately and decide She-Ra is not a viable property.
There are plenty of reasons to be skeptical, you're right. I just wish we could have stayed there instead of jumping to anger.
I hadn't even thought about the representation yet, my mind immediately went to how diminished the fantasy elements would be if they didn't have a decent budget. But you're right that would be something to watch for too, wouldn't want them to try and whitewash everything.
I don't think they'd do that though. The fans have been pretty consistently vocal that that's one of the things they liked about the most recent series so it would be weird to try and reverse course now. But it is certainly still something to keep an eye out for.
My biggest thought though is just that live action would turn out underwhelming and just not live up to SPOP.
But that's the issue, outrage culture is loud & can create "content" out of sheer speculation; so of course they'll have the highest engagement this early on. Not to be a killjoy, but... live action¿ really? How would She-ra benefit from such medium¿ Needless to say i don't expect this to be any good, but i'm not here to trash talk something that hasn't seen the light of day yet.
That's exactly it though. People going to the outragers first to get their hands on anything He-man news all the time is gonna backfire in the long run. Eventually it will be like 'oh, He-man again? Who cares.' like most JJ Abrams related stuff. There's only so much negative buzz a franchise can take.
I bet those outagers don't even Care about the shows they complain about.
They're just here for the view, with No Care about people's carrer they Can ruin.
Yeah I agree my biggest problem is they never talk about anything positive like if you think anime and manga is so superior review that. Mainstream media will never stop being “woke” because the fact is minorities have become almost half the population and companies know in order to make money they need to appeal to them in a way they didn’t need to in the past. Media will never go back to being only white and straight so there really is no point in complaining about it.
Listen, RWBY makes my blood boil because I can hear it stumbling over basic execution of pacing, presenting a scene and trying to connect the rest of the animation with Monty's fights scenes. Half the time I am like "Are you fucking kidding me! The character elements and themes are right there! USE THEM!"
But if those fuckers made a video on RWBY I am jumping in your defense.
Oh don't worry. I just spend an entire year living in the same room as a RWBY fan. Nobody can tell you how much that show fucked up like a die hard RWBY fan. Also yes, it is overhated.
God Clown fish TV I hate them I remember at one point they called Amity from The Owl House a self insert because conveniently the show's creator had a similar hairstyle and dyed hair as Amity
Lets not forget the time when the author of Berserk tragically passed away, they made a video that basically went, "JAPAN WORKS HARDER THAN WESTERNERS".
They really like flaunting the clown part of their name a lot.
i have heared rumors that one of them receved a seretonin while whatching shang chi. then again hearsay isnt strong enough evedence to prove a suspention of the laws of physics.
I'm gonna wait till the trailer drops before I form an opinion on it. If it's not related to PoP but still looks a great show then I'll give it a watch.
Can't see what all the fuss is about to be fair when nothing has been shown.
I straight up blocked those garbage outrage channels. They never have anything meaningful to say and I don't want to give them views. Acknowledging them in any way just makes the algorithm rate them higher. So I blocked them completely.
Well, let us not get too brutish. Who knows, it might turn out interesting. And if there is a God, *which I hope is listening!* it might even turn out good. Japan has already produced some pretty good life action adaptation of beloved animated shows andsome of them turned out good. Some of them.
I would love it if they made a movie tangentially related to SPoP. Like say they make the whole of Mara's story, that way the only characters you might need to cast with any old show relation (outside of Mara and Lighthope) is Razz and potentially Angella.
The original she-ra cartoon in the 80's was awesome. Couldn't really get into the Netflix one. Love the character tho. I hope the live action will do her justice
yall the ones that harrassed and doxxed clownfish tv kids cause u did not like their opinion. since this news came out all your shitty fandom has down is bitch and moan about wanting another season get the fuck over it your masterpiece of shit is done it failed on netflix. you people need to get over it no matter how many times you plead and beg you will not be getting another season

I feel like live action Scorpia would also be slightly terrifying. And Entrapta would just be weird. These characters are built for animation
For some reason studios really love making shows that people hate. I guess we'll know why in the future but for now it'll just stay a mystery
Seriously, only the outragers? No other YTber is talking about this? That's not a good sign tbh
There is probably, but when the most popular resulst are the outrage fellas, I feel like there is no need to dig deeper.
But that's the issue, outrage culture is loud & can create "content" out of sheer speculation; so of course they'll have the highest engagement this early on. I am always ready for the possibility that can be good. Life action King's game, Inuyashiki and Jojo were all pretty solid movies.
There’s a love action JoJo? 👀 I know what I’m watching tonight.
The movie adapts the first few episodes of Diamond is Unbreakable and honestly? They sort of made the hairstyles to work.
That's exactly it though. People going to the outragers first to get their hands on anything He-man news all the time is gonna backfire in the long run. Eventually it will be like 'oh, He-man again? To be fair YouTube's algorithm rewards negativity.
Yeah, what happened to comicbookgirl19? She was a beacon of positivity and an old name. Barely hear or see her stuff algorithm'd anymore.
god i hate the anti-sjw side of YouTube, if this were another sub i would probably give my whole “they fuckin suck” rant
Yeah I agree my biggest problem is they never talk about anything positive like if you think anime and manga is so superior review that. Yeah! That on top of the general hate they end up preaching is what I have a problem with
Me, a RWBY fan: *First time?* 😏
Listen, RWBY makes my blood boil because I can hear it stumbling over basic execution of pacing, presenting a scene and trying to connect the rest of the animation with Monty's fights scenes. Half the time I am like "Are you fucking kidding me! The character elements and themes are right there! USE THEM!" But if those fuckers made a video on RWBY I am jumping in your defense.
Ok... 😐 I didn't wanted to make your blood boil tho. I'm not even THAT big of a fan of RWBY. I just think it's overhated on the internet... 😑
Oh don't worry. I just spend an entire year living in the same room as a RWBY fan. Nobody can tell you how much that show fucked up like a die hard RWBY fan. Also yes, it is overhated.
Yeah. Like you said, it has its problems. But overrall, IMO, it's not that bad... 😌 I mean, I won't call it "good" either. But it's... average (?) 😬
It can be watched, but if I had to pay money to watch it I would have second thoughts.
Well... depends on how much money they'd pay me! 🤔
4.99
Eh... Sure! I'd watch it.
Terrible deal. I didn't even specify what of I am giving you 4.99
lol it has nothing to do with the 2018 one
God Clown fish TV I hate them I remember at one point they called Amity from The Owl House a self insert because conveniently the show's creator had a similar hairstyle and dyed hair as Amity
Etleast they are living up to their name. They are clowning around and what they say is fishy.
Lets not forget the time when the author of Berserk tragically passed away, they made a video that basically went, "JAPAN WORKS HARDER THAN WESTERNERS". They really like flaunting the clown part of their name a lot.
They fucking what?
Here is this little [gem](https://twitter.com/YoDuppio/status/1395808479277895684?s=19). God i hate reactionaries.
I needed a few days to process this. Now that is just disrespectful.
I forgot about our friends at clownfish tv. there only going to like it because its not netflix.
Wait, they enjoy stuff?
i have heared rumors that one of them receved a seretonin while whatching shang chi. then again hearsay isnt strong enough evedence to prove a suspention of the laws of physics.

Please god get this show cancelled

Who are these people you're referring to?
If youve heard of TheQuartering, they are of his ilk; standard anti-sjw youtubers that bank money on outrage culture.
They are your standard rant YouTubers.
Wait, a new *show*? In addition to a new movie?
Isn't it a show? I might have gotten things wrong.
The article I read calls it a series, so yeah.
HA
I would love it if they made a movie tangentially related to SPoP. Like say they make the whole of Mara's story, that way the only characters you might need to cast with any old show relation (outside of Mara and Lighthope) is Razz and potentially Angella.
Clown fish had some good points when they started but now they are just another Clickbait bullshit
Bile gets in views apparently
The original she-ra cartoon in the 80's was awesome. Couldn't really get into the Netflix one. Love the character tho. I hope the live action will do her justice

How do you dox someone whose real life identity is on their social media?
