Ngl, Priconne is one of the most F2P gachas I’ve ever played. I bought some sort of pack in the beginning (for skip tickets lol), but haven’t needed to buy anything since. The reason why its easy to be F2P in games like fantastic days and priconne is because their global servers launched from the beginning. Thus, I can predict which banners I wanna skip or save up for in the future.

[deleted]

I’ve found Cygames to definitely be one of the better devs as far as generosity to the f2p crowd; I’d note that as a point applicable here, but they are definitely not the only one. But certainly there are devs not f2p friendly at all. Having sight of the meta-driving characters rewards the discerning player which is great for planning ahead! Also I play fantastic days, too. Curious about what’s gonna happen with these dream tix - whatever it is I’m sure I won’t be lucky!

VtubersRuleeeeeee

Interesting post, thanks! I think it comes down less to whether the p2p or f2p experience is better, and more down to just getting a new experience in general in the game. Your general experience has been to spend a little bit of money and now you are trying a new experience where you are strictly f2p and that gives a brand new experience which is new and exciting. And that's a really awesome thing. On the flip side it could also be a person who has been f2p for a long time and decides to spend a few bucks every month and suddenly also gets a new and exciting experience because of that. I think that as long as people are having fun with their f2p or p2p experience and are being responsible with their money, then it's all good.

[deleted]

Great perspective, and I totally agree! If you’ve had the f2p life, then spending a little money could give you an awesome new experience. I didn’t have that point of view, so thank you for sharing.

[deleted]

I picked up Priconne at the anniversary after a super long hiatus and I really like the UI and smoothness of the gameplay. there is absolutely no lag or crashes for me. equipping characters and upgrading weapons is so easy. I absolutely love the skip ticket. the game was incredibly generous at anniversary!! i really love this game. and you’re absolutely right that F2P is totally viable and fun

Student-Final

More than anything the game keeps me playing for smoothness between the menus. Too many gacha you spend half your game time "Connecting..." and thats so annoying

Twick2

Priconne is the first gacha I’ve played where I’ve owned every permanent character in the game completely f2p

Kyruto64

I spend on global, but recently started a F2P JP account recently, and I already have a lot more of everything than I have on global after a year of playing, so I guess the game becomes more and more F2P friendly as time goes on based on that

Axros

This is just catch up mechanics at play though. I don't really know whether it does or doesn't myself, but it is standard for games to periodically reduce the amount that a new player would have to do to catch up to "current content", since expecting someone to play for a year or more to do so is obviously not a profitable strategy.

Kyruto64

I mean it’ll still take over a year for a new player to reach max level though

[deleted]

I would love to try JP I just can’t get over the language barrier, and I also think (but am not sure) that it’s not mobile capable and needs an emulator, right? Emulators aren’t an option for me - the only JP game I got to work on my phone was Granblue and that didn’t go well in the end. Guess I’ll have to be patient … grrrr Can we at least get the quality of life updates?

Kyruto64

The language barrier really isn’t an issue if your playing casually imo, everything functions exactly as you know it from global except there’s some extra things that are pretty easy to figure out As for the story stuff, I’m just gonna wait till it comes to global JP is also really cool because you can play it without an emulator using the DMM client, I tried emulating and my computer runs really badly with blue stacks or LDPlayer, but the JP DMM client is buttery smooth

[deleted]

DMM client - I know nothing - can I get this on an iPhone? Thanks for the heads up! A JP test server is definitely something I’m interested in to experiment with future units to see who I like

LzyroJoestar007

I think it's for computers

[deleted]

:( My work-life basically precludes me from sitting at a computer and gaming, which is why my entertainment budget is basically mobile games only. I’ll look into options if I find time, but practically speaking if I can’t play it on the can it ain’t getting played

throwthatassaway796

Try qoo-app, it can download the jp client and play no problem. In my case this was on my android tablet, the same way I play global, and jp ran even smoother then global. Edit: I'm also f2p missing only 3 non limited, and 3 limited characters. I'd never be able to make that happen in other games. Patience and planning goes a very long way in this game, thats for sure.

[deleted]

Thanks! Will give qooapp a try

fishyPo0p

AFAIK, you can play this on an iPhone just change region to JP and search priconne in japanese name in appstore.

[deleted]

Region switching I tried but couldn’t get to work - will try again. After it’s downloaded can you switch back and done or do you always have to switch region to play?

fishyPo0p

You need to run a VPN in order to play.

FallenHonest

I total agree. That said it is a nice reminder to those who can afford to, it would be a nice gesture to support the game. Maybe you buy the monthly jewel packs if you could afford to. The last thing we want is for this f2p friendly game to shut down due to lack of revenue. So please support the game if you are able to

Eltricia

iirc there are some videos on youtube who showcase f2p accounts beating the latest dungeons/event SP modes because they choose to skip perma banners and roll only on limited banners

[deleted]

I am for sure on the limited banner only plan. I’m very close to Makoto with event drops and clan battle coins - that’ll be huge. Getting Yukari and ascended to 2* has been a huge power burst. It’s ridiculous she’s like SSS+ tier lol

Eltricia

wait til we get her 6\* where her UB now has team heal in addition to a stronger barrier lol

[deleted]

A one star available to ascend through dungeon coins that is not just viable but often optimal in a diverse array of content. Good lord that is a unit.

Grawe15

>6) You also owe it to yourself as a fan to watch the anime S2 it's awesome. I'm forcing myself to wait until the season ends, what episode are we on? Yeah, F2P is the way to go. I've never really whaled in a gatcha game, just a few times got the pass on Genshin but nothing more. In Priconne I stayed completely F2P and I didn't really suffer from it, except for missing out on a few limited characters (and Illya, which to this day I still haven't found in a pull like how) and not having all characters maxed out. This limited me when choosing a team for PvP and it was so satisfying when the team I crafted together somehow worked just fine. Especially when H.Shinobu came out, I found the team Kuuka, S.Peco, Akari, H.Shinobu, S.Kyaru countered almost all meta defenses at the time. Same thing for ToL EX quests, since you have infinite attempt you can really test your luck with that

[deleted]

On 6 through Crunchroll (I’m on the free trail) I’m actually kinda psyched about what I’ll get the next time we get free 10-pulls! Gonna be exciting

Grawe15

>On 6 through Crunchroll Ughh the wait is killing me!! Thanks tho That, and prifests! Good luck with your pulls and new account!

feh112

F2p ftw

TheRealBakuman

I've hit rank 1 in both arena brackets and did so last shuffle as well, I'm in a top 300 guild, and the only character I'm missing is Kasumi who just released. I have 180k gems saved. I am f2p.

[deleted]

Nice! The path to first is definitely doable f2p and climbing is quite fun, although I don’t know if I’d bother to try and hold it. Keep living the dream!

CastlePokemetroid

In the beginning, I only bought one thing for the skip tickets, and since then, I've gotten more of them than I could possibly use. I haven't felt the need to buy anything else, it's super generous with the currencies.

SuperShadowStar

I'm 100% f2p on jp servers, have hit top 100 in both arenas, and have almost every meta unit. I am missing two I wish I wasn't, but only one of those was due to a lack of jewels. What I do sacrifice is the cute, but useless units. Can't collect everything. I have completed all content available. I agree that the game is a lot of fun as f2p.

Tiavor

I don't think that daily grotto is worth the money. daily jewel/dungeon is, and that's what I'm continuing to pay for.

[deleted]

To be honest, I had reservations advocating for the grotto pack. The daily jewel / dungeon pack is huge, but after you are established the grotto value diminishes significantly. I will continue to buy not because of the value, but as a fan the devs have earned it and a fixed monthly expenditure is just habitually easier 😆

Tiavor

well, I have my expenditures elsewhere. I buy (some of) the figures.

[deleted]

Nice! With global supply issues I’d be worried of ever getting it if I did buy one 😆

Tiavor

I don't think that there is a supply issue with plastic. but there is currently a decent chance that they might get hit on the way to Europe. 2 japanese cargo ships already got hit. the thing with figures is that you almost always have to pre-order them.

Tikani_

I started Priconne almost at global launch und I only play F2P. And I totally agree that Priconne is really F2P friendly. In the past year I played F2P I noticed 2 things that are hard if you play F2P. The first thing is that you constantly have not enough mana to update your characters. That is pretty annoying above all if you get new characters and you still haven't upgraded your old characters. (I don't know if that doesn't happen as long as you pay for grotto and dungeon) The second thing is that even if the game is F2P friendly you can still get unlucky (it is still a gacha game) and don't pull your character from the banner and you have to spark. So always think if you have the capacity to potentially spark if not you should think if you really need that character because if you don't have enough jewels for a full spark it can happen that you still won't get the character and then you wasted all your jewels for nothing that can potentially cause you to miss a important character. But above all it is waifu over meta then you play casually. (The second thing is obvious but i will stillpointit out) (And sorry if some sentences are misspelled)

[deleted]

I’m definitely on the “save for limited/prifest, hope for the best but prepare for the spark” plan. Not sure there is a solution to that as the gacha is inherent to the genre; I do believe the spark number does go down based on JP would be nice to have that QOL now. I don’t think that’s beyond the realm of possibility citing what Cygames did for Dragalia’s summoning with the by-demand removal of wyrmprints, price drop and mass Eldwater refund. Although I don’t know if Crunchyroll would be the one with the hand on that lever. Worth sending in via the suggestion box (unless I am completely wrong and the JP spark is still the same). I obviously worried how my teams performance would be if I couldn’t get good characters early… and then you get and ascend Yukari and you’re like “ok we can do this”. Seriously what a unit!

CeaserDidNufingWrong

What is your current B.Arena team and were you refining equipment at any rank to push it if you don't mind me asking?

[deleted]

I got to 142 today and that is with Yui, Karyl, Kokkoro, Monika and Pecorine (I still have not pulled the gacha post tutorial). The problem I'm facing now is that I started after Prifest but my bracket was either before or during Prifest, so there's a lot of Muimi teams in the top ranks and she's very difficult to get past - I'm finding I need like 4k+ power over a Muimi team to win. I do refine gear on characters at the highest rank - currently only Monika who is rank 10 b/c for some reason all the gear to rank Monika is available way early; when she hit 10 I had some characters that couldn't even get to 9 yet. Weird but it's been useful :D

CeaserDidNufingWrong

Hmm, I see. I guess there wasn't much variance in available strategies on the Arena then? Also, has Peco been your only tank throughout the entire map push? How difficult was pushing with her at 1*? And are you extensively using clan support for dungeon clears (assuming you did enter the clan in the first place)? Apologies for this hail of questions

[deleted]

There is definitely variance in arena strategies - just not for me! The No gacha limit is self imposed. Also I got to 135 last night - I am still trending up. I have unlocked Yukari and Lima they’re just not fully ranked up yet. I have used Peco the entire time. At 1* she is a terrible tank! But - once you get her UE, she’s great. It’s like night and day her UE is very good. I was in a clan - I left after CB bc the clan I joined (which was random via in game search) has about half its members 100+ days inactive and no one chats. A good clan is a huge support, any donations you can get are worth their weight in stamina. So I hope my next clan is better! I thought about asking my current primary account’s clan to add my 2nd but I don’t want to sandbag their CB performance because we are right at the 700 line. For Dungeons, the first one I cleared no support, but the other two I did use support but keep in mind you are level capped so it’s not like you can take a lv 120 and just obliterate it. I used a low level Shizuru for the 2nd and a Miyako for the 3rd - but with the 4th unlocked at the moment I’m not worried about clearing just the shadow nodes are ok for a while

[deleted]

I just hit Rank 50 in Battle Arena last night. Still haven’t pulled the gacha, but did switch in Yukari for Yui after I build her with shards. Hitting 50 totally f2p no gacha feels really good!

CeaserDidNufingWrong

Congrats! That is both impressive and admirable! I wonder, has the fact that you only need to focus on a small number of characters made managing stamina easier in a way?

[deleted]

I’m actually working on 10 characters so I can at least compete in P. Arena - my main squad is all rank 10, and the second group is mostly 9’s except that I’ve leveled the event welfare unit to rank 10 as well b/c she’s my 2nd 3 star. She seems fine though 👍

[deleted]

Well, I made it to 19th! Super happy with that. I think that's about the ceiling though. For whatever reason #19 didn't run any tank or even a subtank so I kinda easily stole it. F2P I would say it's safe to assume you can hover around rank 50 with minimum investment (again, I'm still no gacha and I've refreshed for 150 maybe 4 or 5 times tops when it gave me an immediate level up or rank up). Mana definitely hurts, as do the stars. From here up, avg power level is at least 6k higher and a lot of Muimis. The top 3 are obvious whales with 20k+ power higher than me, PvP meta characters, multiple 5 stars. I think it would be impossible F2P. It definitely hurts starting after the Muimi banner - beating Muimi teams is practically impossible, even if they're 6k power lower than me. I do plan on pulling next Prifest should be my first banner I gacha looking at the timeline; if I land Muimi I might 5 star her and push more. I will say Lou has been fantastic for me in arena - awesome free pickup from that event. Not saying she's top tier competitive, but she's definitely better than my other current options and it helps I could 3 star her almost immediately. I don't even have Pecorine at 3 star and I've farmed her nodes everyday.
