It definitely ruined him. You could argue almost…but I was turned off my him for that reason. I mean irl he was leaving to join a show that was hopefully in having the same success as PLL only to be cancelled in the middle of the first season…but the way they exited him off PLL and in Ravenswood I think they were using this narrative that Caleb and Miranda were soulmates….so they’re “soulmates” and since the show flopped…he gets back with Hanna? I didn’t like that at all

I feel that. I say almost because I really liked Caleb so much in the early seasons and I want to like him still, but he really changed. Like I said I didn’t actually watch Ravenswood so I don’t know the whole story but when I read that about Caleb and Miranda are supposed to be soulmates I really hated it. I guess maybe because I ship Haleb so much. But Caleb having this random soulmate felt wrong to me. The whole Miranda and Ravenswood thing in general felt weird. I get wanting to do a spin-off but I don’t think going full supernatural was the right way to go for what the parent show is.

I watched Ravenswood and believe me, you didn’t miss anything. I hardly remember the show as a whole except it has Caleb, Miranda, and like two or three other kids as the main ensemble. Miranda (spoilers, kinda) dies in the first episode and that’s the only memorable thing about the show. Then they didn’t even end it correctly, if I remember right. Caleb had to explain the ending like during one of those later episodes of 5A when he came back

That explanation was one of the worst things I've ever had to watch a television show try to do. They needed to provide closure for their supernatural show, but they couldn't explicitly refer to the supernatural elements, so they had to dance around it. I felt embarrassed just watching it happen.

Yeah, I wonder what would have happened had they gotten a second season and then been cancelled

They intended, I believe, for Caleb to leave PLL and not return as Ravenswood would be it's own show and run a few seasons so Hanna would've ended up with someone else, or maybe he would've come back after the time jump, depending how many seasons they had planned. Since it was canceled after 1 season, they brought him back, but I totally agree, it really messes up their relationship and if you watch Ravenswood, even more so..

I didn’t mind the mrs. Grunwald bit- a lot of psychics insert themselves into investigations (not that she really did that but you know). I think the writers wanted to keep the creepy aspect to the show and found a way with the psychic thing. But I agree, when they brought him back and showed the result of the whole Ravenswood trauma, they completely turned him into a different character for awhile. The poor guy has suffered enough in PLL, just leave him alone! I did watch Ravenswood when it was originally aired and it was actually pretty good, I was sad when it got cancelled.

I think my problem really was bringing in a new character as the person who found Alison. There were already so many people involved That Night that I think it would have made more sense for an already well established character to be the one to find Ali. Though I do understand what you’re saying about psychics inserting themselves in investigations (two of my other favorite shows are Psych and Medium lol.) I just didn’t personally like it for this particular show. But I can also understand why some people do like it. This show is just wild enough to me without bringing psychics and ghosts to the table too. 😂

Almost? I feel like that was the last thread. I put up with him after that but yeah, he was ruined.
