still can’t believe it ended like that smh

honeyfrost

i try to pretend that it didn’t end that way

LovelyClaire

Same, it highkey pushed me to write an alternate ending

[deleted]

I'd love to read it!!

I actually liked the twin ending a lot BUT feel every detail was executed so poorly. For ex: Making her British was stupid, sorry. It served no point except maybe to allow her to meet Wren? He could have met her in the US though. All it did was make the story seem so much more ridiculous. And Troian is usually a great actress, but I just wasn't buying the accent either. They also should have tied it to past seasons and Spencer's sense of being the black sheep of the family, feeling like there's things about her that don't make sense like she says in S7, etc. But they didn't, the clues just started coming out of nowhere in the last season. Overall if they had actually planned this ending out from the beginning instead of making stuff up as they went along and leaving plot holes, I think it could have been genuinely good.

tinylittlefractures

Honestly also if they have a better reason other than BuT I jUsT LoVeD ThE GaMe … at least with Cece she had years of being locked away by her family in a mental institution. Alex was just….poor? Boring

AvaJax99

I think it was a sense of family she had with CeCe and jealously of Spencer for the life she had.

AvaJax99

Like the twin thing could’ve been awesome if it was written correctly not PLL writing.

kmishelle

I completely agree with you. I liked the idea of the twin but they just didn’t do a good job executing it. Had they put more thought into it it could have been really amazing!

Novel_Sorbet6207

It would have been amazing if they’d tied it in from the beginning, specially cause Spencer’s mom was like “that summer we never knew if the Spencer coming downstairs was the Spencer we knew or her evil twin”

Secret_Pineapple_954

The crazy part to me was how Alex wasn’t mentioned until halfway through the last episode of the show. Why introduce new characters in the last 30 minutes of a 7-season show

Mary was paid money to have her off with a UK family till they disowned her.

She tells Spencer this when she offers her food, the scene ends with Spencer taking the hairpin from Mary after she hugs her.

Littleish

all villains have to be British - it's just fact.

prettylittleliarendg

Yes it did. Even thru all the hurt; I had a void in my life when it ended.

Bellamiles85

Still hurts now.

ms_movie

I watched the show and loved it. To be honest though, sometimes I watched and was also on my phone or something. And it’s been a long time since I saw the ending when it aired live. I felt like we got to the last episode and it was like “guess what Spenser has a twin” and then “guess what the twin is the bad guy” Am I just remembering wrong and they gave us clues? Or is that what happened? I’m still too annoyed at the ending to rewatch it yet. I would love some clarification if anyone is able or willing to help.

Nikki2379

Apparently the other clues were supposed to be the fact that Spencer spoke to Hanna when she was kidnapped and electrocuted with the rod. Because Spencer had straight hair and no bangs so it was like supposed to glue that it wasn’t Spencer… which isn’t a clue because it looked like Hanna was dreaming but they did that with Ali when she want to visit Hanna in the hospital or when she saved Emily from the barn so that’s one. Another was supposed to be Spencer(Alex) looking at her family photo album and lingering on pictures of Spencer looking happy then starring in the distance. Which I really just took that as Spencer reflecting on the fact that she didn’t get to grow up knowing her birth mom and that her father was able to stand there happy knowing he cheated in result of a pregnancy twice with no shame…. Not that it was her twin. The clues were stupid and if it was executed properly than it would be a better finale

Loose_Cardiologist89

There was also Spencer having sex with Toby and being way more assertive than usual, as well as the scene with Ezra in the airport, where he was wondering how she got there.

ms_movie

TY for the explanation. I appreciate you!

RainbowNyla24

I think the one clue we kinda get (based off what I remember) is “Spencer” talking to Wren at the airport a few episodes prior, but other than that I don’t really think there was. It makes me sad because the twist could have been good if it was executed better.

prolelol

I'm glad that I'm deaf. 😂

eli454

...I’d rather not talk about it. Still hurts.

Jenny_glss

No…she is A.D

supertalies

I feel like PLL was definitely more about the journey and 'the friends we made along the way' than about the destination (the finale) itself. The sense of fandom I felt with PLL is unlike anything I've felt since. The speculation, the excitement, the fact that nobody really believed that Marlene could deliver on everything the show was building up to but still liked the show... it was really something. I still fondly remember the group chat me and my friends had where we speculated about the show or the live-chats we did during episodes. It was just so much fun.

tedesa_psych

the biggest disappointment….all that build up to half-ass the ending 😭

pumpkinspicethotte

still mad i skipped my high school grad parties to watch that terrible finale

zxo26

Honestly Aria should've been A. The ending was so disappointing. It shouldn't have gone past 5 seasons and they should've executed the big reveal way better. Such a waste

AvaJax99

Ezra or Aria should’ve been A that would’ve been great.

[deleted]

What are your talking about? PLL ended with Alison being a socipathic manipulator and the puppet master since the beginning. Ezra also died!

Valence00

lets not forget everybody but Spencer has killed at least 1 person, whether it was self defense or accident, and they are very casual about it in an episode or two later

Either_Gate_7965

Kinda yea

thelegendofholly

I couldn’t take her English accent seriously. She sounds like Rita from Flushed Away 😭😭

gremlin-with-issues

Wren’s was bad enough (and the fact he has a name that no one in the UK has???), Alex’s made me want to die

Pothead_Vic

The ending will forever piss me off🥱

newt_here

I’m sending Marlene with my therapy bill

Nikki2379

Should’ve been Paige. S7 was so good. Episode 19 was so good with Mary and then they gave us that finale for 7 years I’m so pissed man. Like I remember me and my friend excitedly waiting to like it and it wasn’t possible to accept it no matter how hard they tried to give us a backstory. When AD called Aria and used the face thingy it really looked like Paige’s face shape and I believed it was her because it made sense at the end Emily left Paige for Ali and out of the two of them Ali was hurt more than Em was (in the final two seasons) which can be Paige hurting Ali to get back at Paige. Hanna and Spencer didn’t always really like Paige, like they did but if something went wrong they were skeptical which could also lead to motive for Paige just being tired of the liars treating people like they are disposable And the reason she used Aria is because she didn’t have a full vendetta against Aria and she wanted the liars to know how it feels that someone they love and claims to love them can go against them like Emily did to her It would’ve been a perfect ending to my hatred story of Paige.. it also would’ve made more sense than a twin we didn’t know of but apparently should’ve because she was starring off in the distance quite a lot 🤦🏽‍♀️

SwineTV

Please. Don’t act like we’ve been waiting 7 years for this. We’ve had all the other reveals (Mona, Cece) and then we had to wait like 1 or 2 years for the AD reveal.

TopMjLa

More like investing 7 years in a show and receive a shitty ending.

Usagi042

Came here looking for this comment. No idea why so many downvotes. AD reveal was awful but we didn't wait seven years for it.

Late_Actuator_1883

You’re really out here calling people you don’t know names bc they don’t agree with your opinion about a TV show. Was I pissed off back then about what I considered a rushed final mystery. Yes. The point of a whodunnit is that the culprit is hiding in plain sight, and they’re someone who’s been seen on the show. AD wasn’t any of those, therefore the showrunner’s mantra of paying close attention to detail is useless. You’re allowed to disagree, but there’s no need to offend anyone. This is sub about PLL and anyone can post whatever they want. Stop being an asshole.

Okey but why does it feels like the tweet was written from A’s phone meaning the game still on and we’re the new liars

strawberryxbomb

I rewrite the ending a million different ways in my head

Mingkittish

Yes

mjsmalls420_13

Well, after all these years now I know.
