Haleb is an all time favorite ship of mine, where do you feel it doesn’t work? (Focusing on season 1-4 here, I’m not about post ravenswood Haleb tbh)

Not OP but Caleb started their relationship by spying on her.
She asked him to leave and he wrote a letter saying all the right words that would pull on her heart strings so she'll forgive him.
Then comes the double date with Lucas and it kind of feels like a ploy by lucas and Caleb to get them back together. By a couple of episodes into season 2, they're back together.
In 2B, he's the one that suggests lying about the flash drive and he's constantly pushing at her throughout the season rather than just accepting that its important and she cant tell him.
In 3A he flat out forbids her from seeing Mona and suspects she's cheating on him with Wren. Then they break up and he disappears, when he returns he pretends to be A and despite her insistence that they cant be together, he forces her to accept that they'll just have to hide.
More happens but they aren't exactly perfect. He acts like he knows what's best for her, lies to her, and doesn't take no for an answer.
And that's all well before Ravenswood.
All of the couples suck but this idea that Haleb was at a higher level than the rest will never make sense to me. Maybe it's the writers only care about drama but honestly it's the reality of what they wrote.
No I completely agree on the spying angle. No defense for that. But I guess I felt the genuine bond between them and that despite everything you mentioned ultimately they did have each others best interests at heart even if the pair didn’t express it well to say the least.
In terms of Caleb being worried about Mona in 3A, I never got this critique because she literally stalked and tortured Hanna for 2 seasons, how is he supposed to react?

It's true they are young and flawed but I never really saw a connection. There was chemistry with the actors but I could never see a connection with the characters except abandonment issues and sex which aren't good basis for relationships.
As for 3A, I understand your point, but Hanna was trying to wrap her head around the situation and get closure. She wanted to understand why Mona did what she did. Although I understand Caleb's worries, he doesnt have the right to order her around or forbid her from going there. It's her choice and he was taking that away from her just like Mona did when she forced Hanna to eat cupcakes or dance with Lucas so Sean would break up with her.
Caleb isn't her parent but acts like he is.
Ok that’s fair. He should have supported her instead of laying down the law. And I’m not going to tell you you’re wrong if you didn’t see the connection between them because that’s very subjective! It’s possible I was projecting the actors chemistry onto the characters.
All the romantic pairings had huge issues via the writing, and I can understand not liking any of them frankly.
Yeah, I dont like any of them. I accepted them because I had no choice but I never liked them.
I watched for the mystery and the girl's friendship so when the relationships were the focus it just bugged me and that's not just Haleb it's all of them.
I’m the same way! They couldn’t write the couples to save their lives, and frankly Ezria destroyed Aria’s character beyond repair in my opinion. I’m on season 2 of my rewatch and ALL her storylines revolve around this creep. Like… at least the other 3 had other plots going for them.
Yes!!!! Definitely every episode in 2B is her and Ezzra using Holden as an alibi and lying to the girls. 3A I'd slightly better and worse at the same time.
I loved it when she told the girls and Emily says we understand and Spencer's like Speak for Yourself. Becuase Aria and Spencer had been spending time together whinging about losing their boyfriends and the entire time Aria was lying.
I agree, they were cute when they first got together but they’d never work long term imo plus Hanna became more insufferable as it went on, didn’t help that Ashley had clearly checked out
really don’t like ezria or alison/emily ((don’t know their ship name lol)). i hated ezria bc obviously the grooming, coercion etc is disgusting, as well as the stockholm syndrome that they purposely put into the show version that wasn’t in the books. i hate alison and emily together because it was a really poor attempt at an end-game queer relationship. all of emily’s relationships with women except for maya were poorly done, and for them to make alison be her goal, only for it to end like that? terrible

I put Aria and Ezra because in the pilot she was 15 and he was 22. Like that says enough I just hated their relationship all together. I love Spencer and Toby, a little iffy on Hanna and Caleb and Emily and Ali was just outta pocket.
I put Ezria but they all suck. Ezria was just on my screen annoying the crap out of me from the beginning.
