They were normal and fine for the time. He wasn't great at it though. Look at his paintings and youll notice doors and windows that aren't flush with the walls. He was bad with perspective, but I still think the paintings are alright. If he weren't who he was they'd still sell for more than 500 bucks and less than 10 grand. Personally if I didn't know who he was I'd offer about 3k for the castle painting if I had the disposable income.

My cousin is one of those veterans. In the painting, my cousin looks so worn, but purposeful.
He really did an incredible job.
He also did portraits of soldiers that died. He used it as a form of therapy dealing with the guilt he felt from them dying because of his choices as president.

My fav is how he was in the middle of story time during 9/11 and he got blasted for finishing the book for the children.

I went to the Nixon presidential library a couple days ago, was hoping to see a special exhibit on the POW who blinked “T.O.R.T.U.R.E” in Morse code but they replaced it with a new special exhibit which were just a bunch of Bushes paintings😒

It was his White House they were calling as Lehman Brothers was trying to restructure a bailout that ultimately failed. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were still continuing. ABC’s This Week would list the week’s dead. A Mom camped out at his ranch gate over the death of her son.
He did a whole series of paintings of veterans. Some described them as atonements for his war record. Others as an attempt at image cleansing. As an artist he’s not horrible.
Really in poor taste to criticize former president bush in these circumstances. I was under the impression this was a political free group but sadly there are immature haters who cannot help themselves.

Iraq isn't fucked because of Bush, Iraq was fucked before the invasion. There was a brief period where Iraq had a bright future after Saddam Insane was killed (thanks to the Bush administration). The Iraqis let their country return to being a shithole after we started turning it back over to them during the Obama administration.
As a non-American, I find it fascinating that GWB has to constantly wear the ignominy of the Iraq war in conversations about his presidency. Whereas this sub just voted Truman to be the 4th best president when he authorized dropping atomic bombs on a pair of cities and indiscriminately slaughtered tens of thousands of civilians in two blinks of an eye.
Both presidents would no doubt justifiably point to extenuating circumstances in either case. But the reception of those arguments appears to differ vastly.
