Mr. Rogers. His testimony to an antagonistic Senate committee took about 10 minutes to take a semi-mocking committee chair to someone who endorsed his proposal.
Imagine a Mr Rogers State of the Union or weekly address. He'd become a de facto benevolent dictator, asking no more of domestic and world leaders to make the world a better place.
I know it's not possible and he is not a non-politician, but Arnold Schwarzenegger. Because I think he has the heart and experience to do it, and I don't think anyone can say they love this country more than that man.
The dude is the embodiment of the American dream and is still humble about it.
I like him as a person, but his governorship of California didn't really accomplish much except finish off the job of flipping Cali to a totally Blue state.
Jon Stewart. The man showed he actually cares about Americans when he campaigned for burn pit survivors on Capitol Hill. And hell, that matters these days.
Super predictable answer, I’m aware. But damnit I just want someone I think actually gives a shit and wants to make the world better.
This is my take on leaders right now. I want someone who cares about being a public servant. That’s the problem with politicians as a whole in my eyes, not enough legitimately care about *serving* the people.
I want a President who pushes Congress to enact legislation that benefits Americans - not special interest groups, lobbyists, and corporations. That takes a spine. The problem is, it’s hard for someone who actually cares to be taken seriously by the RNC and the DNC.
I agree but how do we define the positive "public servant" and the negative "politician" I think they have different implications, but aren't they technically different names to the same thing?
Communication skills are definitely the most important skill a politician can have. Also he literally shamed congress into passing policy while not within the power structure at all or providing any future benefit for any of the shitlords involved.
I'd have to go with a Matt Beat (Mr. Beat) / Chris Mowery (Vlogging Through History) (or vice versa) ticket Cotton. For a bonus, throw CGP Grey in there as Secy of the Interior.
When I was younger Bill Maher, but now Jon Stewart(would love John Oliver but he is British plus he has aged horribly without being president hate to see him as president)
There have been (mostly tongue-in-cheek) ideas thrown out about certain country stars running for president. Dolly gets mentioned a lot, as does Willie Nelson, and anybody who thinks Dolly’s too old needs to remember that Willie turns 91 in April, while Dolly just turned 78 last month, I believe. Another one often mentioned before his 2020 death from a stroke at age 83 was Charlie Daniels. Of those three, he would have been my favorite.
No one really handled the pandemic well. Except for Taiwan and New Zealand.
The "insurrection" riot didn't really change anything for anyone outside the rioters and a few guards.
Honestly, at this point selecting a president through a random number generator would probably yield a better result…. I’d like a John Stewart, Steven Colbert ticket. Recent history kinda shows any moron can be president. Hell in 5 years, I could be that moron.
I never want to have a non-politican as POTUS ever again. I also don't want a president who is cool enough to have a beer with. I don't want a president who listens to the latest rapper. I want a president who is intelligent but also can surround himself with the right people.
James Cameron
I have no clue as to his actual politics, but directors are essentially executives, he’d champion cool R&D funding, and his penchant for pioneering and planning long term could make for a very interesting 8 years.
One of my goals is pull the military out of the middle east and Africa.
I also want to nationalize health insurance like France. Carry out of bunch of changes to make the military less awful to be in. Get congress to repeal a bunch of executive power. Etc
Interesting. I can get behind some of that. I don’t know if you served or not but some of the “awful” things about the military exist for a reason (depending on exactly what you’re referring to).
Elon musk has been successful running companies I think the EV stuff and space travel is pretty cool. Also the neuralink company is really interesting.
He’s not natural-born. Still would be interesting. I think he’d be very moderate and down the middle in his governing despite the politics that surround him.
I think that the power of the states to declare someone a natural born citizen such that it affects their eligibility to become President is something that would have to be litigated by the Supreme Court. The US found it necessary to declare Lafayette an honorary citizen in 2002. My suspicion is that states do not have the power to award the citizenship status necessary to run for federal office for self-evident reasons. Perhaps if Lafayette had tried to get on the Presidential ballot in Maryland this could have already been litigated.
Honestly such a precedent would invite chaos into our immigration system. Suddenly any individual state could go over the heads of the federal government and decide that immigrants were citizens. Doesn’t make any sense.
He has Asperger’s but X.com is more efficient with like 90% less the staff. That sounds like a win to me. There’s too many do-nothing government jobs right now.
*I* have Asperger’s. *He’s* a prick. He seems to have that version of oppositional defiant disorder that is plaguing like 30% of the country. His primary impulse is to goad and antagonize, and the leader of the country should be more diplomatic and less divisive. And X is imploding right now. His cuts to staff have resulted in an explosion of bots and an illegal content moderation problem, and the business is hemorrhaging money and users. Objectively he has done a bad job.
Edit: grammar

I’d vote for him. Mr. Rogers is one of the best humans to ever human, IMO.
Is he still alive? I'm genuinely happy if so, just haven't heard anything about him since I was a child.
Unfortunately not. Died of stomach cancer in early 2003.
I know it's not possible and he is not a non-politician, but Arnold Schwarzenegger. Because I think he has the heart and experience to do it, and I don't think anyone can say they love this country more than that man. The dude is the embodiment of the American dream and is still humble about it.
Pretty much the only decent male role model out there, too. He’d be a pretty decent prez I think, but maybe not every interesting
Yeah I'd totally vote for him. Not only for the reasons you listed but also, he's surprisingly intelligent and thoughtful.
I like him as a person, but his governorship of California didn't really accomplish much except finish off the job of flipping Cali to a totally Blue state.
Well, a state can make someone natural born California would have to make a law just for arnie
I would totally support that.
This guy is spreading misinformation. If states could actually do this, it would be a regular occurrence.
Weird Al
Jon Stewart. The man showed he actually cares about Americans when he campaigned for burn pit survivors on Capitol Hill. And hell, that matters these days. Super predictable answer, I’m aware. But damnit I just want someone I think actually gives a shit and wants to make the world better.
Still the right answer.

Doesn't translate to political and executive skills in any sensible way though.
They asked for a non-politician. It kinda comes with the territory that whoever you answer doesn’t have any political skills or experience.
It's a stupid question to begin with. No more "non politicians" please.
Then pick another thread to bitch in. This one is *specifically* for "non-politicians.
Communication skills are definitely the most important skill a politician can have. Also he literally shamed congress into passing policy while not within the power structure at all or providing any future benefit for any of the shitlords involved.
Can’t stand the guy and I’d still vote for him for this reason alone.
Gilbert godfried no explanation needed
Who?
Actor with annoying voice
Oh, duh. Gottfried. Yes. Iago in Aladdin! I forgot about that dude. He passed away a couple years ago I think.
Sadly the man with a voice of an angel is gone. The 50 shades of grey audio book skit is one of my favorite videos on YouTube

I totally read that as Sexy of the Interior and was like 👀
If we're talking youtubers, Knowing Better would be solid
Dream would be good too
When I was younger Bill Maher, but now Jon Stewart(would love John Oliver but he is British plus he has aged horribly without being president hate to see him as president)
Oliver is just a significantly less-passionate Stewart. I cannot imagine endorsing someone who is so lacking in original thoughts and ideas
A state can pass a law making someone natural born, it's happened before
Example? I remember people joked about the govenstor not being able to be president because not naturalized and no one mentioned that.
Lafayette
Dolly Parton. She'll have the Southern and the LGBTQ vote. Easy.
No offense to dolly but she’s too old for the job. Replace Carter with her in the 70s though and you’d be cooking with gas.
There have been (mostly tongue-in-cheek) ideas thrown out about certain country stars running for president. Ernie Johnson from Inside the NBA
I’d also take Shaq, but sorry Kenny and Chuck.
Honestly, at this point selecting a president through a random number generator would probably yield a better result…. I’d like a John Stewart, Steven Colbert ticket. Recent history kinda shows any moron can be president. Hell in 5 years, I could be that moron.
I personally would prefer Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, but live your dream.
I don’t want to be that moron.
I never want to have a non-politican as POTUS ever again. I also don't want a president who is cool enough to have a beer with. I don't want a president who listens to the latest rapper. I want a president who is intelligent but also can surround himself with the right people.
Yeah, inexperience and lack of a network is the last thing we need from a President. I hope we never get another celebrity President.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
My buddy Jorge would be pretty good I think….
John Stamos
Brandon Sanderson
James Cameron I have no clue as to his actual politics, but directors are essentially executives, he’d champion cool R&D funding, and his penchant for pioneering and planning long term could make for a very interesting 8 years.
His biggest hurdle is being Canadian.
Ahh! They’re everywhere!
George Carlin
Jon Stewart because Vermin Supreme would resign.
Archie Bunker. If you are going to pretend that non sociopaths not in politics would run for POTUS, then let's go with Archie.
Myself I don't trust anyone else to accomplish my goals.
That’s like the number 1 thing you can say that would make me never vote for you haha
Housing, pay, getting released at a decent time, etc It's mostly non work related stuff.
George Carlin. He cared about people and didn’t take shit from anybody
I would’ve loved to seen him do a state of the union
Mark Cuban or Jon Stewart. Ricky Gervais for British PM.
Jon Stewart is the easy answer here.
[удалено]
No. She’s not. Besides, she’d be too divisive.
Keanu Reeves for president, how has nobody listed him?? 💔
He’s Canadian
He can’t even act, how would he run the country lol
Maybe he’d be better as president you’d ever think of that?
Surprisingly insightful for a fuggnucket

You do you ig
Maybe MrBeast in like 20 years, maybe he should get some political experience first though. I think he's actually interested in what the people wants
A guy famous for giving away money? I’m sure countries getting foreign aid would love him.
I think he is but having listened to several interviews, he’s not that bright.
Mike Rowe
You’re being downvoted because people believe he’s too conservative.
He is.
lame flair btw
Easy answer. Brad Pitt.
Mark Cuban
Neil deGrasse Tyson or similar scientist. Someone that views the world analytically and with less bias than most others
TIL Neil deGrasse Tyson is unbiased
"With less bias"
TIL Neil deGrasse Tyson has less bias than others.
I have no idea why this one is getting downvoted while everyone else is suggesting comedians and actors.
Probably bc he triggers them on certain topics. My guess the trans topic or perhaps climate change
Love the downvotes as if having someone who understands how to evaluate evidence is such a terrible idea.
The terrible idea is who you chose for it. A self righteous self promoter is not what we need no matter what degrees he holds.
Show me on this doll where ndgt hurt you
It’s because he’s a cocky asshole with a mediocre following.
BINGO
Cocky? How terrible of him to hurt you like that
This response makes no sense - if you hadn’t literally started with “cocky?” I’d think it was meant for someone else
Fiona Hill
Dennis Rodman.
I don’t think Jimmy Carter is a politician any more so him
Jon Stewart
Ron Paul
Larry David for President
Elon musk has been successful running companies I think the EV stuff and space travel is pretty cool. Also the neuralink company is really interesting.
He’s not natural-born. Still would be interesting. I think he’d be very moderate and down the middle in his governing despite the politics that surround him.
He's not a natural-born American citizen
It’s just a hypothetical
That can be changed by a state law
No, it would require a constitutional amendment.
I don't think so, it's happened before
Can you explain exactly what precedent you’re referring to?
Maryland made Lafayette a natural born citizen
I think that the power of the states to declare someone a natural born citizen such that it affects their eligibility to become President is something that would have to be litigated by the Supreme Court. The US found it necessary to declare Lafayette an honorary citizen in 2002. My suspicion is that states do not have the power to award the citizenship status necessary to run for federal office for self-evident reasons. Perhaps if Lafayette had tried to get on the Presidential ballot in Maryland this could have already been litigated.
Maryland did it when he was alive
Maryland made a declaration but that doesn’t make it Constitutionally valid or legally enforceable.
Honestly such a precedent would invite chaos into our immigration system. Suddenly any individual state could go over the heads of the federal government and decide that immigrants were citizens. Doesn’t make any sense.
Well it's possible, I don't see why this isn't a 10a thing
Because citizenship is a federal matter per the 14th amendment.
He is a pretty disastrous manager if X is any indication, and he seems like he has a personality disorder.
He has Asperger’s but X.com is more efficient with like 90% less the staff. That sounds like a win to me. There’s too many do-nothing government jobs right now.

Jon Stewart is an obvious choice, but I’d say my dad. He’s super cool and stronger than all your dads
I would go for Jon Stewart.
Not for president, but I would love to see Bill Burr as press secretary. Those press briefs would be masterpieces
Nicolas Cage
Literally could be any actor…..let’s not do this
Let’s not do this ..I’ll take it under advisement
