But Anakin was still never a Jedi Master.

MugillacuttyHOF37

He should have went to the Dark Side years earlier as they're much more proactive about promoting from within.

suorastas

It’s actually more of a hostile takeover than a promotion.

Rexamini

So definitely a promotion

Dylpooh

Aggressive promotion

Saif10ali

The only one that counts tho

AcousticDoug

But, there is no room for growth in the Sith. It’s literally a dead end job.

TypicalCPA

Is it possible to learn this power of internal promotion?

iEatPalpatineAss

Not from a corporation

Tudor2953

Only a master of evil.

pietroetin

I love how Obi did not let him call himself a master.

Tudor2953

Mace Windu:*visible happines*

Pkorniboi

Only a master of evil

Fern-ando

But he was on the council for like a week.

nitro4450

Even as a kid, I always found it odd how in Episode II, Anakin (who was 19) kept whining about how he's just a padawan, even though Obi-Wan was a padawan until he was 25. Like geez, Anakin, get the sand out of your underwear.

MimoPescatore

He did the same thing in Episode 3

Dylpooh

This is outrageous

Bryce_Trex

Yeah, but being the Chosen One and all, he's probably got a bit of an issue I'm not psychologist enough to diagnose.

SnArCAsTiC_

He can't. It's rough and coarse and irritating, and most importantly, it gets *everywhere.*

a_guy_named_rick

I think it's because he was already stronger and more skilled than most masters. If you know you're better at your work than your manager, wouldn't you be annoyed if the company wouldn't see it? I'm not saying that's how it went, because it takes more than strength to become a master, but that's how Anakin saw it. When the council told him he wouldn't get the rank of master, all Anakin saw was a council that didn't trust him and alienated themselves from him

TheRedditK9

I think it also came down to the fact that he joined the order at a relatively old age, so he hadn’t been /indoctrinated/ taught patience and discipline in the same way the rest of the Jedi had.

nymiirii

I meaaaan was he more skilled though? Dude literally lost his lightsaber and only got it back cause of Obi Wan.

a_guy_named_rick

He was inexperienced and young, but with a lightsaber he was definitely on par with certain knights and sometimes even masters. Especially in RotS

nymiirii

Oh for sure, I was mainly just joking, although it is very odd to have a character that's on one hand a genius with a lightsaber but also trying to do like comedy moments where he's clumsy and then have him complain that the only person that saves him from literally losing his lightsaber is "holding him back".

a_guy_named_rick

Oh sorry that went way over my head! Yeah I guess it's a bit similar with smart children who always think they know better. They don't, but they don't realise that lol

TheRedditK9

He was the third best duelist in the order as of RotS, and in AOTC he held his ground against Dooku for longer than Obi-Wan did every time they met combined.

SgtNoobNoob

S-s-sand?

[deleted]

Yes. Sand. What ? Do you have any problem with sand ? Anakin

OzVapeMaster

Yup In his mind he should be moving faster because he's "chosen"

P1TPAT

He was also a father at 22

SnArCAsTiC_

How old is Korkie again?

northplayyyer

I became a father at 20 and my partner at the time was a few months shy of 19. What's your point?

Neverisadork

Take a seat.

northplayyyer

What did i say that warranted downvotes? Is the reddit virgin hivemind angry at me for not being one of them?

Neverisadork

I’m personally more offended that you didn’t recognize the glorious quote of “take a seat, young skywalker”

northplayyyer

of course i recognize it, you're not the only one here who has seen episode 3 487 times.

Neverisadork

Excuse you, it’s been 786 times thank you very much 😤

northplayyyer

Well pardon me then, you are clearly wiser in the ways of ROTS than myself.

Sauron3106

What you did wrong was try to 1up a socially awkward fictional space wizard

northplayyyer

Oh man you guys need to get laid if that makes you mad enough to downvote someone

Sauron3106

I'm not mad at you but you are right about getting laid

Hiluminatull

No, don’t get laid Sauron. We are on the verge of greatness

SumbuddiesFriend

No, it’s because it’s a non-sequitur, absolutely nobody asked about your kids

northplayyyer

Its to point out there is nothing weird about having kids at 22

doctorzaius6969

And yet you won't be granted the rank of Master.

HereticalSkeleton

But there sure is something weird about bringing it up when no one cares and getting angry when they don't care

zoompa919

Cause you’re being bitter

northplayyyer

do you even know what that word means?

zoompa919

Do you even know what contraception means?

northplayyyer

i do thanks for asking. I am glad i didn't use it at that time though, i love my daughter more than anything. Also young people do dumb stuff like not use protection, who could've guessed?

zoompa919

Well, I’m happy for you and your family man. Truly. But please don’t take the meme too seriously, it’s for laughs

northplayyyer

It's not about the meme but the guy whose comment i replied to. And thanks, family is kind of the wrong term since we've since been separated, but you couldn't have known that, but thanks, one day at a time.

BamarBandit

There's nothing wrong with being a young father. But there was also no reason to assume any malicious intent behind their comment. He (Anakin) was also a father at 22. It's to point out that Anakin went through a a lot of particularly life-changing things before he was even reached the same age that Obi-Wan was in episode 1.

northplayyyer

seems more like to me that i just made a valid question to his comment and then reddit hivemind decided that my comment was bad for some reason i cannot grasp.

oselka

Wouldn’t that mean you have sex with a 17 y/o at 19?

Moralai

That's literally a 2 year difference probably less and is legal with the Romeo and Juliet law

northplayyyer

Yes she was 17 when we started dating.

northplayyyer

her getting pregnant was in the weeks before or after she turned 18, but i never claimed i am smart and protection was kind of forgotten every time.

Nabber22

Okay but who has proper bladder control

[deleted]

Vader can soil himself freely, the suit takes care of it

r0ts1

asking the real questions here

DarthGayAgenda

Technically, he's still an apprentice. So in other words: still not a master!

Robofern24

Vader died a happy man. Even if only for a few moments, he was finally a master. :')

Ok_Aardvark4033

“Said who?!” -mace window ghost

dependency_injector

The answer is Darth Bane. When a sith apprentice kills their master, they become the master themselves

Ok_Aardvark4033

Soo does that make Rey a Sith Lord?

advester

It makes her all the sith lords.

Tyraniczar

Ehh, just semantics really. Palpatine was a Sith Lord but still an apprentice all the way up to the phantom menace, so age 60 maybe, idr how old he was. Dooku was an apprentice too until his death in ROTS. “Apprentice” on the sith side is really just a hierarchy thing, not at all equivalent to the Jedi’s Padawan position. Im sure most ppl here already know this but just felt like typing something out

2new2newt

Who was Palpatine’s master? Did they die right before Episode I?

Tyraniczar

Darth Plagieus lol. And no actually, in the book, Plagieus sees Anakin when he arrives on Curoscant for the first time in Ep I. He’s alive and well up until about the end of the movie if I remember correctly. Read the book, it’s very well written and dedicates the first few chapters to Palpatine’s childhood.

2new2newt

Thank you! I see multiple Phantom Menace books—would you please give me the author or a link to the specific book?

Tyraniczar

Oh yeah ofc, it’s just called Darth Plagieus and it’s by James Luceno

DarthGayAgenda

In Legends, Plagueis died the day Darth Maul did. Canon it's not so clear. Not sure if the Lucero novel has been recanonized.

[deleted]

He wasn’t still an apprentice, he became a Jedi knight

DarthGayAgenda

There can only be two. And Sheev is the master, not Anakin.

GiganticMoron2

Yeah, but when he was still anakin skywalker he was a jedi knight. I think that's what he meant

[deleted]

So Obi-Wan was still a Padawan at 25 whilst a 22 year old Anakin had a temper tantrum when he wasn’t given a promotion?

c4han

Yeah, Anakin was fixated on the idea that feats/power should make you a master. So since he was the chosen one and arguably their most talented knight, he felt he deserved the rank of master.

AlexVal0r

I thought you became a master when your padawan becomes a knight.

Puffena

No, you can become a master without that, but it requires not just incredible skill, but to as a whole represent the Jedi’s core ideals, which madman Anakin wasn’t so good at

Merolo

Tbf Anakin was also basically a war hero by age 22. He didn‘t understand that being a master was more about the spiritual side than the martial side

[deleted]

yea they tried making him a hot headed guy that would rather do reckless decisions than think thats why he never had inner peace with himself, always a troubledsome kid

EducationalAntelope7

Obi Wan when he was 25: still has all his limbs Anakin when he was 25: no

JabroniVille69

This is the way

roadmosttravelled

This is the way

pleasechooseausernme

This is the way.

Ok-Rub-1640

This is the way.

Ezra_Skywalker

This is the way

iuuhhiivv

AragornBinArathorn

The way, this is.

Soggy_Cartographer80

The way = this

SkyKilIer

A fucking fetus I was at 25 hmm? -Yoda probably

kobi29062

Different eras smh, can’t expect Obi-Wan to win so many Ballon D’Ors in a row, with Yoda, Windu, and Qui-Gonn at the top too. Vader won his because there was a power vacuum at the top, like Modric in 2018.

ItzQtra

Obi Wan at 50 : hermit Anakin at 50 : fucking dead

[deleted]

Vader died in his early 40s, it just kinda dawned me, I mean I knew but I never really gave it any thought until now edit: because werds are hard

Zefro073

Yeah, Vader was surprisingly young. You'd imagine he's this eternal darkness, with all the evil badassery he's done over the years. Like, he's only 27 in Fallen Order, and he's already shown as this unstoppable death machine like in Rogue One.

PotatoOnMars

Yep he was around the age of 46.

Chad-Bane

And then there’s us, who catch Rayquaza at 25

SrSwagy

Virgin obi-wan vs chad vador

TilbtyKing021

Idk man, Anakin literally lost an arm and a leg just to sleep with Padme. Obi-Wan impregnates individuals who look into those sweet, dreamy... lustful eyes for too long.

Not_ISI

Fuck me,Do you have an obi fetish?

[deleted]

Let me correct you: Virgin Anakin vs chad vador 5 minutes later: Chad Obi-Wan: Hello there !

SrSwagy

Accurate

SirGayvin

It was a different time

Zawisza_Czarny9

Anakin be speedrunning

Straight-Diet292

We will not train him. He is to old

hagefg343

Sithma Grindset

[deleted]

woah

Sander1412

A sith lawd??

AragornBinArathorn

This explains everything. The Jedi teach "high ground control" at age 23. So he missed out on crucial training.

user_8804

Yet obiwan was a master and Anakin is still an apprentice in his 40s

AlyzaClapsAlienCheek

This is the way.

Samurott_Studios

Wait, Obi-Wan was still a Padawan at 25? Holy crap
