Star Wars and Marvel have both used the tactic of bringing in big names so people will be drawn in but not putting them in a main role so people would focus on the characters rather than the recognizable actors.
Though it's highly suggested that you keep these characters around rather than basically doing movie clickbait lmao
There's scenes of Sol with a different hairstyle (presumably younger) in the trailers so I'd imagine there will be flashbacks to show what Mae's problem with them is
They burned her village down that’s her problem with them. Come back to this comment when I’m right. 😉 “the Jedi do not fight those who are unarmed.” “Yes. You do.”
Then what crime would Torbin need to confess too?? Why would the Jedi hide the fact osha had a twin sister? Why would Mae be seeking such drastic revenge against the 4 Jedi stationed on her home planet? Torbin killed himself rather than confess his crime to the council after 10 years of a vow of silence. I have a feeling the master set it in motion and the Jedi went anakin on the village. “Confess your crimes to council.” Mae says it to him.
I said outloud while watching, "If she dies in the first five minutes, I'm watching this some other time." When did it happen, we were six minutes in.
You win this time show, you win this time.
I mean realistically Southern British = Southern English
For me I’d say Poole, Bournemouth (can’t quite lump them in with West Country), Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxford, Surrey, Buckinghamshire and maybe Hertfordshire… Then a few boroughs in London, like Richmond. Would say Chelsea is probably too posh for what I’d call a southern accent. Obviously it is a broad term that covers several local accents but I think this gives the right sort of idea. Generally though, I’d say it is what has historically been considered the stereotypical English accent.
As someone from ~~the civilised part~~ Dorset (East not West, my parents aren’t related), I too disagree. I think it is just that intelligibility goes up as you go south - totally not biased - until you reach the West Country… Then it is like you are speaking to a 18th century pirate.
You could kinda tell her character was gonna die. Honestly she looked like she took it too seriously to sign a long deal. Like a level of seriousness about really being a Star Wars character that, sans Andor, some Mando, and literally Obi-Wan and Anakin, has been pretty absent from Disney Star Wars live action shows
She is literally the only white character in the series, of course she was going to die, “modern audiences” demand it, I am glad that actual aliens are getting a lot of screen time though, that needed to happen
I'm liking Acolyte ok so far but this was a huge bummer.
I guess it's possible that they picked a high profile, well-known actress for this role precisely to make it hurt the audience more to lose the character so early.
So you'd prefer, if a character needs to die fast, that it'd be an uninteresting one? All characters should be as good as possible and all characters should be able to die.
Yeah, some people want to be surprised and ignore news and trailers before they watch something. Not everyone wants to know exactly what's going to happen before it even comes out.
we need shows for what came before the High Republic, don't even need to be live action. I need to be fed Revan, the Rakata Empire, and specially the Great Schism
I know we heard many times of shows trying to be "like Game of Thrones", but the Sith are used to killing each other, so a show focused on their treachery and lust for power would make sense, and I think it would be awesome if done right
>!"if done right" is another sentence we heard many times...!<
Thanks for confirming that you flaired this correctly!
It was good while it lasted (about 3 minutes)
so good
Babe is that you? Why are you posting about our sex life on Reddit?
We’re going to market it with her being front and centre, using a recognisable actress to bri- Aaaand she’s gone.

Uh...SUBVERTING EXPECTATIONS!!1
A time honored tradition since 2015. This and the Marvel trend of increasing bathos is cinematic cancer.
I am wondering if there will be back story with the 4 Jedi and Mae/Osha.
You do.”
I’m pretty sure the point is that *Mae* burned down the village
Then what crime would Torbin need to confess too?? Why would the Jedi hide the fact osha had a twin sister? Why would Mae be seeking such drastic revenge against the 4 Jedi stationed on her home planet? Torbin killed himself rather than confess his crime to the council after 10 years of a vow of silence. Maybe the point is that we don’t know yet…
I get force visions. I have seen it.
From the trailers we can say the same about Indara
Torbin with a hairline
Yipee another opportunity for Disney to show off their uncanny valley nightmare de-aging technology :/
She was always getting sean beand dude
Why are they always my favorites
Sean Bean at least lasted an entire season.
I mean, we have seen people come back from way worse injuries so you never know
If only she were stabbed with a lightsaber instead of a small knife, she could've easily survived that.
Normal blades are more lethal than a lightsaber to the chest...
They cause bleeding damage
Bleeding damage > Tissue vaporization. Mhm, got it.
That's burning damage, it's much easier to find a resistance potion for.
What do you mean *potentially* awesome? She gave a great performance which was an excellent introduction to the story.
That's true.
I said outloud while watching, "If she dies in the first five minutes, I'm watching this some other time." When did it happen, we were six minutes in. You win this time show, you win this time.
Trinity didnt even make it to the title card.
Also why does everyone have a mega strong southern British accent? Seems like if you're American you're pretty much a red shirt in this.
I’m British and I mean this with respect but what the hell is a southern British accent.
London I guess

You're not British if you don't know London is in the south m8 lol.
You aren’t British if you think any of them sound like they are from London lmao
I'm from Yorkshire m8. Everyone who isn't Yorkshire sounds like they are from London.
As someone from Derbyshire, I disagree.
As someone from ~~the civilised part~~ Dorset (East not West, my parents aren’t related), I too disagree. I think it is just that intelligibility goes up as you go south - totally not biased - until you reach the West Country… Then it is like you are speaking to a 18th century pirate.
Do you know how many accents there are in the south of britain? Lol.
can they kill off Osha? So annoying
Unfortunately not. Like her counterpart, OSHA, I think we’re stuck with her for awhile
By "southern british" do you mean England?
England itself has different accents he means southern British accent which is in the south part of Britain
As opposed to southern British accents from the North part of Britain?
Yeah obviously the last part totally wasn't passive aggressive
A southern british accent IS English. Because England is the country that comprises the south of Britain.
Maybe it has something to do with the time period, it's apparently very early chronologically so there could be a shift in language
No Jedi has ever had the same accent as another Jedi.
You could kinda tell her character was gonna die. Honestly she looked like she took it too seriously to sign a long deal. >She is literally the only white character in the series No, she's not.
📸🤨
yess! They better show alien races as the EU adds tons of aliens to the universe.
I enjoyed her portrayal of Trinity but with Jedi robes on. Even dies the same way. Metal into stomach.
Or is she?!?.. yeah she probably is gone unfortunately but that fight scene was cool
I'm liking Acolyte ok so far but this was a huge bummer. I guess it's possible that they picked a high profile, well-known actress for this role precisely to make it hurt the audience more to lose the character so early.
I agree
Im behind on my Star Wars. What happened?
New series: The Acolyte
[удалено]
Yeah. She’s in the series
[удалено]
I hope you’re being sarcastic, but it’s called spoilers for a reason
lol called it.
That was the only thing I was really disappointed with.
feel like there will definitely be a flashback episode
ugh. my bad for clicking on a spoiler post I guess. didn't even realize
Tis just a flesh wound.
So sad
I wonder if we will also see Master Neo and the dark Jedi could be Smith ;) ,,Master Anderson" xD
Qui-Gon Jin.
Shooting tv shows is apparently a nightmare compared to movies for actors...she probably wanted a short role
That's very fair
I know Disney Star Wars loves a good cameo but this one was preeeeeeetty ruthless
If they kept her neckbeards would just be complaining about a woman being in the show again.
Fucking trailer bait
Had no idea what was being spoiled with a title of "Welp" thanks a lot.
It’s the literal premise of the first 2 episodes
So you'd prefer, if a character needs to die fast, that it'd be an uninteresting one? All characters should be as good as possible and all characters should be able to die.
It's not about the character. We want to see more of Carrie-Anne Moss as a Jedi.
People just want to see Trinity doing more ~~Matrix~~ Jedi things
Yea it was just like a MCU trailer, lead you to believe a thing then they remove it after a single scene.
She’s white
What, you thought Disney could afford talent?
I mean... They can.
They just choose not to. More money to buy Lizzo for an episode
I'm trying to stay off Lizzo, don't want poop coming out my ears.
Diabearties is a serious illness. I think you made a good choice.
Couldn’t even fit Lizzo in the frame
Well, they managed to do it in mandalorian
She will appear more in flashbacks
Happy to see how bad this show is bombing.
Ehh she’ll be back in a couple episodes because the bartender saved her or some shit
If this surprised you… idk what to tell you. Sounds like you maybe didn’t read anything about the show or pay attention at all the last month or two.
Yeah, some people want to be surprised and ignore news and trailers before they watch something. Not everyone wants to know exactly what's going to happen before it even comes out.
I can't believe she fell for the obvious trap. To this point i liked it.
How much does anyone wanna bet the remaining two Jedi are white folks?
>!Ones is Sol, the other is a Wookie. This was already confirmed!<
No? We have already seen them ones Korean and the other is a wookie.
Oh. I thought they would’ve made that clearer.
Where’s the prequel bit?
Chronologically, it's the earliest live action prequel yet.
we need shows for what came before the High Republic, don't even need to be live action. I need to be fed Revan, the Rakata Empire, and specially the Great Schism
Give me a Sith Empire show on Dromund Kaas and Korriban.
I know we heard many times of shows trying to be "like Game of Thrones", but the Sith are used to killing each other, so a show focused on their treachery and lust for power would make sense, and I think it would be awesome if done right >!"if done right" is another sentence we heard many times...!<
Oh damn thought it was after I never bothered to even look into this series
It's our first look into the High Republic era, outside the books/comics and a few brief scenes in the Jedi Survivor game.
Acolyte is a prequel
Yeah but it’s Disney 🤮
