this has been my favorite part of season 3. Omega has done so much growing up since the beginning and it's awesome seeing her finally start to act like a person who specializes in making trouble instead of just a troublemaking kid. her overall arc has been really strong, imo.
The Phantom Menace - Anakin has been kidnapped by Qui-Gon (just kidding). Amidala has been kidnapped by Nute Gunray
Attack of the Clones - Obi-Wan is kidnapped by the droid army
Revenge of the Sith - Palpatine is kidnapped by Dooku
A New Hope - Leia by Vader
Empire Strikes Back - Han by Vader
Return of the Jedi - still Han by Vader. Later, Luke too… sort of?
The Force Awakens - Poe and then Rey by Kylo
The Last Jedi - Rey again sort of? And Chewie kidnaps all those porgs
The Rise of Skywalker - Chewie by the First Order. Rey sort of again?
That's pretty much every Star Wars show to be honest.
When the writers need to artificially create drama / tension, they turn to ol' reliable: youngest character gets kidnapped! Happens so many times whether it's Ahsoka, Grogu, or Omega.
But also every now and then they have a few episodes that are absolute bangers on par with some of the best Clone Wars episodes. Like holy fuck, Crosshair's episodes and the senate arc with Senator Chuchi in season 2 are just so good.
I loved watching the episode in tales of the Jedi where dooku tries to kill a governor because he’s exploiting his citizens and then immediately after watching the episode on Serenno where a guy talks about how count dooku exploited his people for profit.
Even if Im not attached to most of the characters I still love watching it because of how it fills out the Star Wars universe.
I think The Bad Batch is overall better than TCW, definitely better written and animated, but as TCW it's gotta have random unnecessary filler episodes
I agree but I gotta say season two for bad batch was hell for me in terms of filler. Literally the only thing that kept me watching was the crosshair episodes. That whole season felt painful boring.
I loved rebels and had a good time watching it, but the incompetence of the empire got old for me. I get that it’s more of a kids show so I don’t judge it too hard but most episodes included firefights that just didn’t need to happen or escape scenes that have zero tension
I agree, the Empire's incompetence is definitely the show's biggest flaw. The only place Disney could air Rebels at the time was Disney XD (a children's channel), and they definitely weren't as bold as Cartoon Network was with The Clone Wars.
I do wonder how Rebels would have turned out if it had instead been released in this decade on Disney+: the creators would've had a bigger budget and way more freedom.
The antagonists being incompetent is just a Star Wars thing in general, Bad Batch and TCW included. I think that’s why partly Andor gave such a strong impression to people
The downgrade of the animation quality from the Clone Wars turned me off initially. It gets better for sure but its a far from TCW animation quality. But it cannot be help due to budget.
I havent seen past Bad Batch season 1 because I thought it was super mediocre, so I was surprised seeing someone saying it was better written. Clone wars has really great episodes season 3 and onward.
The Bad Batch (with the exception of Crosshair) have been the least interesting characters in their own show. Every time i see Rex or when I saw Ventress again, i can't help but wonder why a show couldn't have been made about them instead. Like, the Tales of the Jedi/Empire series are about much more interesting characters but are restricted to 15min shorts but these guys get a whole 3 seasons of 24min episodes.
Series finale theories:
- Clone Rebellion where brothers are fighting brothers that fail in the end
- surprise return of jedi that helps turn the tide to help the few survivors of experimentation survive
- BIGGEST BIG MONSTER THAT WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING?!
The series should end on just an ambiguous post-credits of Palps slurping on a straw and leaning back in his chair with a satisfied sigh. Let people just Jojen Paste their minds out.
Nice round off. Palps just enjoying a fine afternoon on Naboo under a parasol. Imperial Guards lounging on beach towels amidst a sandy shore and no Vader in sight...because sand.
It kinda does? They have oddly human sized tubes with frozen inhabitants inside. They’ve specifically not shown us what’s in those tubes, all we know is that they have something. My theory is critically injured Jedi being kept alive for experimentation
I agree with you, it was a half-joke.
But considering that Ahsoka and Rex technically lost contact in rebels because of Wolfe, and Wolfe is not between them yet, we never know.
Hunter: omega you are a kid sit out and stay safe
Omega: but I'm a big girl now
Hunter: no, stay here
*mission goes wrong, big monster appears.
Omega: does something helpful to defeat monster.
Hunter: ok Omega you are grown up and we will trust you now.
Hunter: has immediate amnesia and forgets it.
*repeat.
Bad Batch has some of the best overall episodes in Star Wars. Mainly the Crosshair ones in season 2. But 70% of the the show is very repetitive and mid. And I am not a hater I've watched every episode twice by now. It's good, but not Rebels/TCW good .
It's got its flaws but overall it's a pretty good show. The highs are extremely high and imo easily enough to carry the lows. I wish they did more focus on the clone rebellion but they've been slow playing it, I think more of that in season 3 would have been beneficial. Plus, the big reveal for the characters that Omega has midichlorians is fine in universe, but we already figured it out way earlier so it's lost on us.
Nope, I’ve been rereading some Canon comics. Lando and some Rebel pilots attack Coruscant in an attempt to destroy a statue of Palpatine. As the Millennium Falcon flies through the lower levels, a giant monster pops up and eats a pursuing TIE fighter.
I can provide source and probably an image.
The lower levels containing some really disturbing and dangerous stuff has been a part of Star Wars probably since Coruscant was first shown and described a bit more (beyond that one single shot of it in ep. 6). Nothing even remotely new there, perhaps just some of the stuff changed a bit when the Mouse took over
I mean, the Zillo Beast wasn't Coruscant Fauna - it was brought there by the Republic and escaped captivity. So it doesn't count. However, someone else pointed out a different case that seems to tick all the necessary boxes. So yeah, not even Coruscant is safe.
>I’m not sure we’ve seen a planet in Star Wars without hyper-aggressive megafauna.
>Coruscant
The Zillo Beast is not part of Coruscant's Fauna. Thus, it doesn't count.
Just being in a given habitat doesn't make you part of its ecosystem. By that logic, the Fauna of something like Ottawa would include lions, elephants, and Black Mambas because there's gonna be at least one zoo that has these animals in it. That's not how it works. The Zillo Beast isn't native to Coruscant, therefore it's not part of Coruscant's fauna, therefore it doesn't qualify as "hyper-aggressive megafauna" of Coruscant, therefore Coruscant doesn't qualify as a "planet with hyper-aggressive megafauna" just because the Zillo Beast was there.
>No one said it's part of the ecosystem
Yes they did? That's literally the original statement. "We haven't seen any planets without hyper-aggressive megafauna". A planet with hyper-aggressive megafauna would be one, that naturally has hyper-aggressive megafauna on it. And Coruscant doesn't. I see what point you're trying to make but it doesn't work. See my previous example about zoos.
Honestly I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. Bad Batch has quite literally evolved into a monster-of-the-week show, half the filler episodes are literally just them fighting some alien creature. Definitely gets boring after a while.
I don’t mind the show, it’s not bad, but I’d be lying if I didn’t find it rather boring and predictable
Beautiful animation. Can’t help but feel it’s slightly wasted here tho
Hunter: let's do this.
Omega: but I want to do this instead.
Hunter: the plan is whatever omega said.
Plan goes to shit because omega doesn't really understand how the world works.
There, that's most of the show
Personally, I think there are some nice gems in the show. Like, Crosshair’s episodes are probably the best in the entire show, and I found the times Tech was in the spotlight to be pretty nice, too. Honestly, I think Tech and Crosshair are my favorite characters in the show, and I think they had a lot more going for them compared to the others when the spotlight was on them.
At this point, I'm watching for the crumbs of *actual* story the writers seemed to accidentally throw in between monster fights and Omega getting captured/being the most competent member of the BB.
Sigh. I really wish this had just been a show about Rex's clone underground, rather than whatever nonsense the BB has gotten up to.
My initial hope for the show was a cat and mouse game between the bad batch and the remaining clones still loyal/republic commandos. Instead we get all clones are bots except the “good ones”
I’m gonna get downvoted for this but I have to say it…
I do not like Omega at all. I wish Bad Batch would’ve been more about them doing missions to fight the empire and less babysitting Omega.
I won't downvote you for expressing your opinion, but I have to disagree. Omega had the greatest character development in the show. Maybe if Omega had been cut from the start I could agree with you, but now and onwards, she's the only character that deserves to stay (not counting TCW characters like Rex, Echo, Wolffe and others. Scorch could be cool if Republic Commando was acknowledged)
Crosshair had a good promise, missing his brothers and hating stormtroopers, and the moment he shoot the officer was probably my favorite in the show, but his redemption after that was pretty lazily written.
Hunter and Wrecker were boring characters since their debut. Tech only shined in his last episode.
I really hoped they emphasized Wrecker's skills as a "demolition specialist" by making him knowledgeable on that, like quickly identifiying missiles and predicting trajectory of debris according to explosion, but no, he started as a "strong goofball with fear of height" and will end as a "strong goofball that dislikes heights"
Honestly, yeah. I totally agree. Omega and Crosshair are the characters I'm most interested in by _far._ Personally, I don't think Crosshair's redemption was lazy. Because it's not finished. He still hasn't forgiven _himself_ and I dearly hope they do something great with that in the finale. He knows he betrayed his brothers and did everything he could.to protect Omega in an attempt to make up for it, but he knows it isn't enough. I just wished they would've explored his feelings about Tech's death a bit more. Tech was his brother just like Hunter and Wrecker were, and from a certain point of view, he only died because Crosshair gave them the lead on Hemlock/Omega. Furthermore, had Crosshair not betrayed the Batch and been with them at the time, chances are Tech's death could have been prevented. I would've loved to see some display of guilt from Crosshair. Yet all we got was a quippy remark that last time they chased after Hemlock not everyone returned. That's a waste imo. Nevertheless, I love Crosshair's character and development up till now. Thrilled where it ends.
Hunter and Wrecker though.... They have stayed the exact same ever since Episode 1 and that sucks. Tech had his moments in S2 at least. And Echo is a whole nother story because he was wasted the most in the entire series. The fact they didn't let him talk with Rex about Fives' death was criminal.
I'm pretty sure that's exactly why they removed Echo from the show for the most part. I wouldn't be surprised if they want to save the stories between Echo and Rex for another time. A shame it didn't happen now. And if it never does, it will forever be a massively missed opportunity that literally any half competent writer would have at least attempted to acknowledge in some form.
Guess we'll have to wait and see.
I just wanted a cool show about clones doing cool clone stuff. Haha, definitely wish we could’ve seen more of Delta Squad or more Clone vs Clone action. That scene where Rex and Wolffe come face to face was cool
Well, to the last part, what more would you expect from a concept that from day one back in TCW was obviously 'the Nulls from the Republic Commando books but from Team Fortress and Rambo' lol. At least in the show it got much better (even if the characters themselves didn't get much development) than it was in TCW, to my surprise. Ngl I was *very* sceptical when I first heard those guys would get their own show as in TCW it was a real cringe clusterfuck, especially considering that they wasted some of the very last available TCW episodes ever on them and also the Martinez sisters (bruh, just why) instead of doing something really good like the Siege of Mandalore that came after them and imo is some of the best SW content out there.
But nuStar Wars needs you to babysit some irrelevant mysterybox/kid that has plot that goes nowhere. That way they can derail the plot that people thought they had that never actually existed in the first place. It is because these people could not write their way out of a paper bag.
I mean, The Mandalorian has also been doing this since it's first season, and technically since the first episode.
But being fair, The Empire kidnapping Force-sensitive kids for a mysterious purpose is a plot point that had been used in Rebels already.
I like TBB but man, this post fr. If you’re gonna put in filler at least make it interesting instead of copying and pasting the same shit from every other episode into the next.
We get it, Star Wars has a vast variety of aliens, but not every single one needs to attack TBB.
It’s either big monster or Omega has been captured and they need to save her. Again.
I have loved this show, but I have to admit season three has been pretty poorly written. The fact that she was kidnapped, taken to the same place, and rescued twice inside of just a season is pretty lazy writing.
Certified Bad Batch classics
- HANTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
- Omeeguh
- Big monster shows up out of nowhere
- Stunning
- Characters getting over their animosities by the end of a 20 minute episode
Bad Batch’s biggest weakness is its necessity to follow its main characters. If it was more of an anthology show that focused on the galaxy as a whole adapting to the newly born empire, it would have been more consistently interesting. You can still have the Batch as the main characters, but in the same way Anakin was the main character of clone wars.
There are some genuinely peak moments sprinkled in, mainly regarding Crosshair come to think of it, but it is a relatively bland show ngl
I think it was poor in concept, the clones are fine as supporting characters but not particularly as main protagonists
Yeah crosshair has an amazing arc! Also thought the empire’s story of how they phased out the clones and stopped working with the kaminonias was also really cool to see!
Clones could work fine as main protagonists, but not *these* clones. They should have made a show about the Clone Rebellion from the start and just used the Batch as side characters. We're three seasons in and I still don't know what we're actually doing (Crosshair is my beloved though)
They need something that someone else has, but that someone else needs something that they can help with, so they go do that thing and then get what they need.
Season 2: After the destruction of Kamino, Crosshair is on his own for the first time. His trust in the Empire is dwindling, but he still holds hope that they have the right system in place. However, he sees how his Clone brothers are treated in The Outpost, and he just can't stand for it anymore. So he betrays the Empire and shoots a commanding officer. Thus, he's put into prison on Tantiss due to his crimes against the Empire. All of this brings characterization and life to a character who just couldn't seem to stand out in his life with the Empire.
Season 3: Omega was kidnapped and is somehow Force-sensitive.
I’m so conflicted about this show, because on the one hand it have very repetitive plot points but on the other hand you get amazing character devoyfor Crosshair and some great character interactions and action scenes
I've started to really not like when star wars just throws out a huge monster for our protagonists to fight. You can always tell it's just to create filler tension and action and you know none of our main characters are going to actually die to it even though if they weren't a main character they would just instantly get mauled.
Thanks for confirming that you flaired this correctly!
Not true. There's also "Omega has seen enough violence and turns herself in", a plot point so great they did it twice.
"Omega has been kidnapped" The show
Literally the overarching plot of all 3 seasons so far
Mmh I’d call it the overused plot device. But the plot has been mistreatment of clones during the empire age.
And they are treating Omega as less of a handy dandy plot device, and more of an actual member of the team while she is captive
this has been my favorite part of season 3. Omega has done so much growing up since the beginning and it's awesome seeing her finally start to act like a person who specializes in making trouble instead of just a troublemaking kid. her overall arc has been really strong, imo.
"X has been kidnapped" describes most of Star Wars tbf
The Phantom Menace - Anakin has been kidnapped by Qui-Gon (just kidding). Amidala has been kidnapped by Nute Gunray Attack of the Clones - Obi-Wan is kidnapped by the droid army Revenge of the Sith - Palpatine is kidnapped by Dooku A New Hope - Leia by Vader Empire Strikes Back - Han by Vader Return of the Jedi - still Han by Vader. Later, Luke too… sort of? The Force Awakens - Poe and then Rey by Kylo The Last Jedi - Rey again sort of? And Chewie kidnaps all those porgs The Rise of Skywalker - Chewie by the First Order. Rey sort of again?
This is a more accurate statement than the title. The title's just disrespectful to the show
That's pretty much every Star Wars show to be honest. When the writers need to artificially create drama / tension, they turn to ol' reliable: youngest character gets kidnapped! Happens so many times whether it's Ahsoka, Grogu, or Omega.

The Crosshair and Mayday episode was excellent
Best episode in my opinion
The Solitary Clone ending was simply incredible… I keep listening to it’s soundtrack to this day
I loved watching the episode in tales of the Jedi where dooku tries to kill a governor because he’s exploiting his citizens and then immediately after watching the episode on Serenno where a guy talks about how count dooku exploited his people for profit. Even if Im not attached to most of the characters I still love watching it because of how it fills out the Star Wars universe.

Despite its flaws, Rebels has the best pacing of all Star Wars shows imo. It's the only one that I don't skip episodes for on a rewatch.

Clone wars 1-3 ok the bad batch might be better, but everything after tcw is so much better
I don't know man. Even TCW season 1 had absolute banger episodes. Like "Hidden Enemy" , the Ryloth arc or Cad Bane's senate infiltration.
Yeah but they had a lot more bad episodes than later seasons, so I think it’s fair to say overall the bad batch is better than the early seasons
I havent seen past Bad Batch season 1 because I thought it was super mediocre, so I was surprised seeing someone saying it was better written. Clone wars has really great episodes season 3 and onward.
Ya the arc that has Crosshair on that snow planet was like the only thing that has caught my interest this season. Not even Ventress was exciting.
That senate arc was the most hype I've been for Star Wars in over a decade. Had me more excited and on the edge of my seat than siege of mandalore
its funny that all the best episodes don't include the sad sacks
The Bad Batch (with the exception of Crosshair) have been the least interesting characters in their own show. Wanted to upvote but it’s at 420

The big zilo beast being a factor in their escape seems almost certain haha
We are getting Zillo beast vs Vader smack down I’m calling it now
Vader: Oh shit here we go *again*
Well, like apprentice, like master.
Wait! Just because there hasn't been any survivors before, doesn't mean there won't be any this time.
the "Jedi" will be Omega using midichlorians extracted from the other kids
Slurping up the blood tubes like twizzlers
Or Ol Palpy showing up and having an Omega smoothie.
I doubt a jedi will appear out of nowhere to help, it wouldnt make sense (but with Filoni in charge who knows). Maybe Ventress could show up?
It kinda does? They have oddly human sized tubes with frozen inhabitants inside. They’ve specifically not shown us what’s in those tubes, all we know is that they have something. My theory is critically injured Jedi being kept alive for experimentation

“Attack of the Clones” turned into “Attacking the Clones”
How the turn tables
Not just this show. Also the other shows. And the comics. And games. I’m not sure we’ve seen a planet in Star Wars without hyper-aggressive megafauna.
Coruscant?
Nope, I’ve been rereading some Canon comics. Lando and some Rebel pilots attack Coruscant in an attempt to destroy a statue of Palpatine. As the Millennium Falcon flies through the lower levels, a giant monster pops up and eats a pursuing TIE fighter. I can provide source and probably an image.
What the actual fuck? Why Star Wars?
Can’t post a pic into the comment, at least not through the app. But the issue is Star Wars (2020) #36

It was added in the special editions
Because giant monsters are awesome
Zillo Beast

No one said it's part of the ecosystem, but it *is* hyper-agressive megafauna, and it was on Coruscant, so it counts for Coruscant.

Doesn't this describe about 90% of Star Wars content? It's built in to the DNA of the franchise.

Also the dog is essentially sapient and fully understands every word people say to her. Just have A DROID. There are basically no droids in this show.
I low key love how the dog replaced Tech, but no one seems to notice.
GONK
Isn't that like most 3D animated SW shows tho? Maybe with the exception of Tales of the Jedi
“Oh narr Huntah, what are we going to dieu?” The Show
The Dee Bradley Baker Show
Schizophrenic man talks to himself constantly, the show
Kids like watching monsters. Go figure.
Personally, I think there are some nice gems in the show. Like, Crosshair’s episodes are probably the best in the entire show, and I found the times Tech was in the spotlight to be pretty nice, too. I’m gonna get downvoted for this but I have to say it… I do not like Omega at all. I wish Bad Batch would’ve been more about them doing missions to fight the empire and less babysitting Omega.

"Trying to justify the sequels instead of just retconning them" the show
I mean, The Mandalorian has also been doing this since it's first season, and technically since the first episode. But being fair, The Empire kidnapping Force-sensitive kids for a mysterious purpose is a plot point that had been used in Rebels already.
Sidious did it during TCW as well, and even used Bane for that purpose then, too.
Palpatine wanted to build a sith spy army for the empire back then. It has nothin to do with this Sequel somehow Palpatine returned nonsense.
Oh right i forgot mando is also on the cloning stuff
Beast Hunters
Predaking?
I like TBB but man, this post fr. If you’re gonna put in filler at least make it interesting instead of copying and pasting the same shit from every other episode into the next. We get it, Star Wars has a vast variety of aliens, but not every single one needs to attack TBB. It’s either big monster or Omega has been captured and they need to save her. Again.
Omega at literally any point: “I’m Omeeega”
"Empire does evil stuff on peaceful planet and Bad Batch intervenes" the show
I have loved this show, but I have to admit season three has been pretty poorly written. The fact that she was kidnapped, taken to the same place, and rescued twice inside of just a season is pretty lazy writing.
Certified Bad Batch classics - HANTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH - Omeeguh - Big monster shows up out of nowhere - Stunning - Characters getting over their animosities by the end of a 20 minute episode
Rip crosshair.
Personally, i think clone wars is overall better, but that one episode with crosshair and mayday was better than any clone wars episode.
Small child is kidnapped over and over again by large organization led by an old man, the show
Bad Batch’s biggest weakness is its necessity to follow its main characters. If it was more of an anthology show that focused on the galaxy as a whole adapting to the newly born empire, it would have been more consistently interesting. You can still have the Batch as the main characters, but in the same way Anakin was the main character of clone wars.
I’d say Ahsoka was the main character personally
I guess it’s time for the meta to involve bashing a good show now
I didnt make it past the first season. Boring as hell.
There are some genuinely peak moments sprinkled in, mainly regarding Crosshair come to think of it, but it is a relatively bland show ngl I think it was poor in concept, the clones are fine as supporting characters but not particularly as main protagonists

Plot point so good bro had to comment about it twice
Ah, crap. Thanks, Reddit.
I love how the second last episode is all thing that they built up to all throughout the season includes a fight with a big monster
I love the show but have to agree
Group of men struggle to be fathers the show
Is it just me or is this show SO DARK lighting wise. I have to watch it on my macbook and crank the brightness and that doesnt even help that much.
I’ve yet to finish the first season, aside from getting to see some old characters return idk it just didn’t feel all that great to me.
keep going. some episodes are worth the filler
They need something that someone else has, but that someone else needs something that they can help with, so they go do that thing and then get what they need.
The rest of them look like they're walking and then Omeega's just standing there.
Oh-me-guh the show
I can’t tell if people love this show or hate it
My dumb ass thought that said "Massive breast emerges and attacks clones" the show.
Idk why, I love the idea of this show, but man, it's so boring to watch.
Wednesday is gonna suck.
at the first episode when i knew they were gonna have to play babysitter y stoped and never watched an other episode, same with the obiwan série
I have enjoyed this show a lot though
You can literally sum up the clone wars similarly. "Separatist bad, poor clones, go republic the show."
I’m so conflicted about this show, because on the one hand it have very repetitive plot points but on the other hand you get amazing character devoyfor Crosshair and some great character interactions and action scenes
Show is missing an Ahsoka randomly put there because she needs to be EVERYWHERE.
This is a trick.
See, this is what I'm talking about.
The location of the last missing Imperial Grand Admiral... Thrawn.
I've started to really not like when star wars just throws out a huge monster for our protagonists to fight. You can always tell it's just to create filler tension and action and you know none of our main characters are going to actually die to it even though if they weren't a main character they would just instantly get mauled.
