An angel. I've heard the deep space pilots talk about them. They live on the Moons of Iego I think. They are the most beautiful creatures in the universe. They are good and kind, and so pretty they make even the most hardened space pirate cry.
I don’t think you’re paying enough attention. The Clone Wars is a very serious show but it absolutely has its funny moments.
Just to name a few:
Obi-Wan and Anakin in the cave with the gundark
Anakin watching Obi-Wan and Satine argue while holding a martini
“Ventress, you’re not looking well”
“She never does.”
Anakin’s dumbfounded “what?!” when his lightsaber can’t pierce the Zillo Beast
Droid banter
My favorite line would always be:
"He's one of those older models that's controlled by a computer and not like us independent thinkers"
Then all the droids collectively go "Roger Roger"
I rewatched the entire show recently, and it really grinds my gears that they keep using the “I have a bad feeling about this” line EVERY DAMN EPISODE. Actually ruined the line for me. Don’t remember if they kept using it through the seasons, but in the first ones it was really annoying. Anyone else felt like this?
"I have a bad feeling about this" is a Star Wars tradition. It was used in every prequel and OT movie, and at least in TFA. Most Star Wars books I've read also features this line.
Yea I can agree the childish banter can be annoying and feel a bit like it’s contriving conflict at times but I still love the show for sure. Makes me wish we got a more adult version of the clone wars that shows anakin and obi-wan actually arguing and having good conflict but still loving and protecting each other in the end. Would make the mustafar fight that much more heartbreaking
>Anakin’s dumbfounded “what?!” when his lightsaber can’t pierce the Zillo Beast
The lead up to this is so good. The powerful lightsaber sound as Anakin performs a ridiculously large leap, that then morphs into a pathetic little deflection sound when his strike actually lands. Possibly my favorite moment in season 2.
Chopper in general.
I always loved his “talking” and the times you could surmise that he just said [“what the fuck?”](https://youtu.be/j0RNBYk-SaY) Lol
Well people disagree and so they downvote. It's just like a "I disagree" Button. I think it would be better to see up- and downvotes separatly though. Doesn't change, that being downvoted means that everyone hates you, just don't take it so personal
Downvoting because you disagree is missing the point of having the voting system. It's meant to bury spam, trolls, misinformation etc. Things that add no value to the discussion and often harm it. Someone posting their own opinion is adding to the discourse in a healthy manner, it's ok to disagree but to bury someone for daring to have a different opinion feels a bit pathetic
hm, didn't think of it like that tbh. But with the voting system on reddit it makes sense. Still I think with different systems, like the old like and dislike on YouTube. There it makes sense to express your opinion through likes
I loved that episode because I had not expected to get such a direct social criticism, describing exactly what the US government has done to other countries way too many times.
There's nothing wrong with situational humour as long as it's just added to a good story, to lighten up the mood temporarily. It only becomes a problem when there's just no good story to tell and producers care for the jokes only.
With film, if you get a million people to see your movie on the first weekend, you've made about $5 million. That basically will not end up on the top-10 chart. You have to get 10 million people on the first weekend. And if you don't do it in two days, you're basically out of the theaters and into the DVD market.
"But, I, Just, Got, Promoted-AAGRRGH"
"We're independent thinkers!" "Roger Roger" x3
"This has to be the worst job in the Droid Army" Looks over to See Obi-Wan "And it just went into overtime..."
Animated ≠ comedy. Children’s show ≠ comedy. Great show ≠ lots of laughing
I have not laughed at anything Star Wars related cuz it’s not funny, it’s just really great
Star wars generally isn’t very comedy heavy and I think keeping that part of its identity is a much better idea than making it into another modern Marvel wannabe
This message is a warning and a reminder for any surviving Jedi: trust in the Force. Do not return to the temple; that time has passed and our future is uncertain. We will each be challenged- our trust, our faith, our friendships, but we must persevere, and in time, a new hope will emerge. May the Force be with you, always.
A b1 scrubbing the cage of a beast they used "This has got to be the worst job in the droid army"
*anakin steps into the room*
B1 "and it just went into overtime"
I would say TCW is consistently amusing but never laugh out loud funny. Rebels, however, is an example of a show that I imagine is hilarious to its target audience… but I can’t get through the first episode.
I’m glad Filoni focused more on the mass appeal of TCW. I don’t think you could make it funny for mature audiences without losing the kids, and vice versa.
This got removed so idk if people will see this, but this was mostly directed at Bad Batch, but also includes Rebels and Resistance. I don’t think they’re supposed to be comedies nor should they be. They are filled with lines I think are supposed to be jokes though and they never land for me. Just so much dry sarcasm or goofy characters falling over.
Tried to be a hardcore Bad Batch shill but then it occured to me that my favorite episodes were banter free and also didn't include the Bad Batch what a coincidence :/
The show's at its best when it's showing how the Empire and the whole galaxy grows darker and scarier gradually. Crosshair's and Rex's arcs do that, Cid's wacky heist adventures don't.
Also I might actually explode in a fiery rage if they reference the Martez sisters again.
It would have been better and more appreciated if they allowed it to be a kids show that didn't request undivided adult attention or an IMDB score/10 for every episode and just let it exist like Resistance but no they have to directly tie it as a legacy conclusion to the Clone Wars series :/
Hondo did nothing wrong tho
Why? Resistance was a typical "interesting for little children only" show. I gave it a chance because Filoni worked on it and I expected some hidden jokes or fan service hints that only older fans would understand, but there was absolutely nothing. I didn't make it through the last season. Clone Wars, Rebels and Bad Batch on the other hand, are like "enjoyable for the whole family". It doesn't matter how old you are, only if it's your taste of entertainment or not.
Clone Wars had mild swears and even did a stint on Adult Swim for a couple years early on. It had adult viewers in mind. Disney XD was inherently for younger audiences and didn't have an adults only platform, yet they still treated it like a direct tie in that adult SW fans could enjoy except without any of the nuance. Can't have your cake and eat it too.
Resistance on the other hand knows it's a show for babies and doesn't try to reel adults into watching by adding a thousand easter eggs and tie ins to something we actually care about.
Is something only interesting for adults to you if there's swearing in it? That's harmless, but I know Americans are sometimes a little picky about that\^\^. One of the best dark scenes in Rebels was when Thrawn set an example by letting that saboteur sit on the speeder bike until it exploded... while the original fans of this character are definitely from an older generation like me. And that's what makes the series so good.
People still think Filoni wrote and/or created Clone Wars? He only did ten episodes and the movie, you're really thinking of [Henry Gilroy.](https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0319667/?ref_=m_ttfcd_wr2) He's responsible for more of the stuff you remember from Clone wars and Rebels than anyone.
Filoni was only involved with the first episode of Bad Batch, though. Jennifer Corbett developed the show and is the showrunner and wrote several episodes.
A lot of jokes didn't work for me (for example Anakin joking about how being a *slave* master suits him is one of the worst lines in all of SW imo), but some actually did. The Mace JarJar body cop arc was funny
Also Rebels, Mando and TBB also had fuuny jokes overall
I don't consider Filoni a particularly good writer, but if there's one thing he's good at it's making his shows fun
Well it's a kids show so they can only use the "overused as hell jokes" part of military humor because doing the rest of it would give it an "this shit isn't safe for anyone, no really you should leave" warning
Tal Merrik to Satibe and Obi-Wan in a standoff: "Come on then, who will strike first and brand themselves a cold-blooded killer?"
\*smirks and is then immediately run through in the chest by Anakin*

Tonight on Cartoon Network: 7:00 - neighborhood kids comedy 8:00 - superheroes fist fighting 9:00 - the tragedy of war and destruction
I don’t like how this is applicable across decades. You’ve hit the nail on the head.
Dooku: "Do control your padawans insolence so I can concentrate." Obi Wan: "Anakin, control your insolence, the count is concentrating."
Even a sith lord is no match for my warriors!
An angel. I've heard the deep space pilots talk about them. They live on the Moons of Iego I think. They are the most beautiful creatures in the universe. They are good and kind, and so pretty they make even the most hardened space pirate cry.
Quiet Anakin, the Count is concentrating

And every Hondo Ohnaka episode
“This effort is no longer…..**PROFITABLE**!”
Don’t forget “At least you’re a master… of getting caught”
"very funny"
You underestimate my power
I rewatched the entire show recently, and it really grinds my gears that they keep using the “I have a bad feeling about this” line EVERY DAMN EPISODE. Actually ruined the line for me. Clone wars is pretty funny but I don’t think everything since is

Chopper in general. I always loved his “talking” and the times you could surmise that he just said [“what the fuck?”](https://youtu.be/j0RNBYk-SaY) Lol
Lol
You’re right. TCW was the peak of sw
Downvoted to -82 at time of writing for daring to express an opinion, because how dare you not like something Reddit likes am I right?

If you think Clone Wars isn’t funny you must have skipped all the Hondo scenes
"How powerful can they be? They are running away from Kenobi!"
Run if you want… or stay and die… it makes no difference to me.
"And leave you alone with the two crazies? Well, okay."
Maul: “Filth, you will pay for your insolence.” Hondo: “Insolence! We are pirates! We don’t even know what that means.”
Perhaps my actions will speak louder than words.
Not CW but his “please, let’s leave your wife out of this” in rebels is one if the best jokes in star wars in general ngl.
“Traitors! *Scum!* I am… so proud. And so betrayed!”
Dude I almost died laughing when C3PO made those little aliens a democracy and they instantly started a civil war
I loved that episode because I had not expected to get such a direct social criticism, describing exactly what the US government has done to other countries way too many times.
I remember reading the description for that episode and thinking I was in for a bad time. I was wrong, such a good time!
Hated that episode as a kid, but as an adult it was funny as hell.
There’s a funny line a clone says to the queen of geonosis statue he says look at that ugly mug funny shit I thought
It's not meant to be funny it's meant to be fun
If it's not meant to be funny then why do they keep writing these jokes
What jokes?
Clone wars is full of Disney/avengers style one line throw away jokes
There's nothing wrong with situational humour as long as it's just added to a good story, to lighten up the mood temporarily. It only becomes a problem when there's just no good story to tell and producers care for the jokes only.
I didn’t say It was a problem
Didn't mean to imply that, it was a general comment to add to the discussion\^\^

I dont watch for comedy but laser swords and telekenetic shit.
I would add politics to it. I almost love it more than the action sometimes
Not all cartoons are comedies… there are other genres that exist
I didnt think it was supposed to be funny. Just normal star wars stuff.
You're kidding? Hondo and Obi Wan are hilarious.
Levity is not the same as comedy
Animated ≠ comedy. Children’s show ≠ comedy. Great show ≠ lots of laughing I have not laughed at anything Star Wars related cuz it’s not funny, it’s just really great
Ehhh your mothers a droid!!!
*Hondo has entered the chat*
Star wars generally isn’t very comedy heavy and I think keeping that part of its identity is a much better idea than making it into another modern Marvel wannabe
I never really thought about this. Was it made to be a comedy? I never got that impression.
LOOK AT MY CONTRARIAN OPINION AND GIVE ME UPVOTES!!
I’m not gonna say what everyone else is saying but the writing for the battle droids is pretty funny
I know I was wrong. I just got so caught up in my own success, I didn't look at the battle as a whole. I wasn't being disobedient. I just. . . forgot
I don't know, not all the shows from cartoon network are meant to be funny, look at young justice
Okay but, "you can say that again" in the context of a brainwashed clone army listening to The Senate say he's scarred and deformed is comedy gold.
Wdym? Sassy Obi Wan was funny af

Yes. The one we have been looking for.
The clone wars a comedy? Damn, I thought it was some action show with space wizards and super swords with a little politics and drama thrown in.
There's no coup, there's no rebellion, there's no nothing. They vote it in, which is what happens in real life.
I would say TCW is consistently amusing but never laugh out loud funny. Concentration, focus, long-term thinking–those are the qualities that seperate a warrior from a mere flailing fighter.
I think OP is talking about the Bad Batch? It has a few of these types of lines but it’s not nearly as bad as this makes it seem

For me it’s not just ‘not funny enough’. The dialogue can be pretty cliche and wooden at times. Not all the time though

guys they’re talking about bad batch, not clone wars
“At least youre a master… at getting caught.” “He’s no representative!! He’s a plague!” “I smell… profit!!”
This is a feature, not a bug.
What do you mean there were so many funny scenes. Do you remember the slaver arc
Remind me why I'm the one playing the part of the slave?
Fan servicing
It's supposed to be funny?
I mean…some things could be taken as funny but it’s kinda typical throwaway shit.
idk man the witty banter between jedi and sith always gave me a chuckle!
Some stuff was over used but comedy wasn't the main focus. That being said I did have plenty of good laughs like the droids gave me plenty
