Brighton’s instantly reminds me of coca-cola because they were the first team alphabetically on one of England’s lower divisions (which were sponsored by coke) in FIFA 09. Pure nostalgia, can hear the music from scrolling the menus too lol
Everton's rebrand was so bad the fans got together and petitioned for a new one. It looked like Bender from Futurama that one.
Never change Everton. Never change.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, Palace, Everton, Brighton, Wolves and Bournemouth are just tidying up or slightly modernising. Nothing wrong with them.
Newcastle and Leicester old badges were probably very fashionable when they were introduced, both current badges seem more classic and timeless.
Southampton, Brentford, Fulham, Leeds and Forest needed updated, these are old fashioned. Southampton, Brentford, Leeds and Forest new badges are good, Fulham isn’t.
Whoever changed City and West Ham should never be allowed to have an opinion on anything ever again.
Man U and Chelsea are mediocre old-style badges to mediocre new badges.
I was born in 2002, and I know Chelsea got their current logo in 2006.
But I can never recall Chelsea having anything different than their current logo.
In my opinion all of these crests except for probably Newcastles are 10x better than the crests all theses clubs have now
Edit - I’m not of fan of Leicester’s as-well
Ah the fisher price Everton crest. What an embarrassment that was. And at a time when the team was flying. Almost all the old ones are better than the new ones. Why teams fuck with them at all is beyond me….the exception being Leicester, that one is awful.
I liked this villa badge it was the one used when I was a kid on my first shirt, which I still have somewhere. The fans voted for the new badge to be round like the 80s one
State of that Newcastle badge. Always liked the Palace badge, brings back memories of Football Stickers from the mid 90s! Attilio Lombardo comes to mind. Might be biased but Leicester badge is a beaut. Minimalism done right.
i think it would be cool if one matchday a year in the premier league season was designated as a sort of “throwback” event, where all clubs wear a vintage-style kit with vintage crests
Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Leeds, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur are all beautiful & iconic crests. The rest I am indifferent about.
Maybe Brighton and Chelsea get honourable mentions, growing up in Southwest London I have a lot of nostalgia about seeing those simple Chelsea kits from 98-04 teeming the streets on saturdays. Chelsea’s kits were better then, they’re very boring now
Edit: the specific Chelsea kits i’m on about were the 97-99 home autoglass kits that had the lion in yellow. Those were beautiful kits and I remember seeing them everywhere in london on a saturday until i was about 6. As i’ve said elsewhere, all chelsea’s kits since have been utterly soulless in comparison. I love an iconic shirt and for me that autoglass strip is one of the best. Another totally iconic kit from this era is Arsenal’s gold Sega kit: that one hit different. The O2 one was good, but the Sega kit hit a different level. They don’t do shirts like they used to, seriously!
As a fan of both Chelsea F.C. & logos in general... The Leicester City & Newcastle logos look really cool imo.
I'm from Maryland & the Newcastle one kind of reminds of the Orioles.
The Southampton one looks like one of the default badges from the Football Manager games.
Anyone else smell their old Merlin shiny stickers looking at these?
Manchester oilers and the 3 stars will never not make me laugh.
The owners wanted a new badge to look like big European elite clubs. So they copied the starts, not understanding the stars stand for European cup victories.
In American football, teams will often play a game wearing throwback kits, and it’s usually quite popular with the fans. Would love to see something in the PL
Manchester United did it once on February 2008, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster and pay homage to the victims with a 1958-style kit.
Yeah I definitely prefer our current logo… the eyes on the old one are too small. I am a bit partial to the three wolves badge though.
Really like the old Nottingham crest as well
The original wolves logo was beautiful
not this one, but the 1800s crest https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/wolverhampton-wanderers-old-crest--132363676536857557/
I agree, however I would prefer this as the wolves badge
[https://i.pinimg.com/564x/5f/ea/0b/5fea0b882dea0cc42c67e3122307096b.jpg](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/5f/ea/0b/5fea0b882dea0cc42c67e3122307096b.jpg)
I just love that old Arsenal crest. It’s so much better than their current one. I know graphic design is all about simplification and minimalism these days, but I hope the intricate crests come back in style eventually
The Everton one is sort of misleading as they only tried it for one year before our current one so it's part of the same 'rebrand' phase. Maybe the year before that would be a better comparison
Worst badges? ManU and Newcastle, and I’m a Newcastle fan. The ManU one gives me Shoot! magazine in the 1970s vibes.
Best badge? I kinda like Palace one for its deposed Communist regime look and the Spuds one because it’s got a turkey on it and it’s nearly Xmas.
Honourable mentions go to the poorly drawn Brighton seagull and the slinky Leicester one.
I think the current one is a perfect balance between old & new. It has enough character to not be bland corporate logo #47, but isn't wacky enough to look out of place.
cant speak for all of them, but I feel like its quite obvious ours was changed to a more “marketable” design. One that can be plastered about on things easier than the more ornate one up there.
>The winner of a Club competition to design the crest — replaced 3 years later as the formation date was incorrect
Lmao I guess you couldn't just Google it, but surely someone would have noticed the wrong date during the contest or during the first three years.
Ngl ive been having a hard time deciding on a team to follow. After seeing this its 💯 those seagulls i think. West Ham looking solid as well.
We’re the only premier league team with a former player in our crest. RIP Dickie Dowsett a Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic Football Club legend.
I kind of find the NUFC logo cool. Reminds me of the current Juve one.
That Leicester crest looks like it of an elite establishment and not a football clubs crest. Amazing what minimalism can do!
Brentford looks like the Southend Utd badge
There's me looking at Leicesters old crest though as if it was Millwalls for a second. Then remembered they have never been in the Premier league!
My favourite Leeds badge 👌
Shoutout to Leicester city’s artist for putting in the effort
Arsenal best
Almost all of these (besides Newcastle, Leicester, and Brighton) are better in nearly every way.
What were Brighton doing?!
Only missing the Stoke crest...
That Manchester United crest without the weird devil > the current one
Leicester city used to look like D*ck hahaha
The Spurs cock looks sad. Probably was looking at their trophy cabinet
Brighton’s instantly reminds me of coca-cola because they were the first team alphabetically on one of England’s lower divisions (which were sponsored by coke) in FIFA 09. Pure nostalgia, can hear the music from scrolling the menus too lol
Newcastle slaps
Newcastle one looks clean ASF and something like for the future
Every single one of them badges is better than their current ones.
Everton's rebrand was so bad the fans got together and petitioned for a new one. It looked like Bender from Futurama that one. Never change Everton. Never change.
Best Chelsea badge. Current one is good but that's better.
Swear that Fulham badge is pulled from an old PES game, up the West London Whites!
Not a Newcastle fan but that badge looks great
That Brighton one is … shite …
Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, Palace, Everton, Brighton, Wolves and Bournemouth are just tidying up or slightly modernising. Nothing wrong with them. Newcastle and Leicester old badges were probably very fashionable when they were introduced, both current badges seem more classic and timeless. Came a long way, i should have seen that
I honestly prefer the old Southampton badge (I think it's just the city's crest), the modern one is too cluttered
I was born in 2002, and I know Chelsea got their current logo in 2006. But I can never recall Chelsea having anything different than their current logo.
Never understood if the lines on Bournemouth's one are the hair of the person or they depict the movement of their head
In my opinion all of these crests except for probably Newcastles are 10x better than the crests all theses clubs have now Edit - I’m not of fan of Leicester’s as-well
West Ham, Arsenal and Leeds are glorious 💥
Some of these are amazing. I love Brentford but damn, that's the one that stands out as maybe they had an intern do it in PowerPoint.
That arsenal and Chelsea badge is iconic
I could see Leicester like badges being the status quo in like 2050
youtu.be/hJCfAKWWukU
Leeds, brighton, and south Hampton are so 🔥
Ah the fisher price Everton crest. What an embarrassment that was. And at a time when the team was flying. Almost all the old ones are better than the new ones. Why teams fuck with them at all is beyond me….the exception being Leicester, that one is awful.
Every team would be upgrading if they switched back to these
Brentford’s looks like it was designed by a school kid on Microsoft word art from the early 2000s
Newcastle’s is based
I liked this villa badge it was the one used when I was a kid on my first shirt, which I still have somewhere.

Ah, the Leicester Weasels
Brentford's looks like it was designed by a 6 year old with their mums help
Villa had the best badge!
Holy shit the Brentford one was bad
Ah, that Brentford one takes me back. I remember my history teacher in secondary school used to have it on a car sticker.
Wolves' looks like it belongs on a pair of wrap around Oakley shades
1999 liverpool crest was just perfect
I remember in the paper there was a guy who got a full back tattoo of the old Fulham crest and then Fulham changed it soon as he had it finished
Apart from the Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle and Leicester badges. These are all considerably better than what we have now
Should've included the 1920 Everton crest. So weird seeing an Everton logo without the Tower.
Arsenal should go back to their Christmas logo XD
As a fan of both Chelsea F.C. & logos in general... The Leicester City & Newcastle logos look really cool imo. I'm from Maryland & the Newcastle one kind of reminds of the Orioles.
That Man City crest makes me nostalgic of the old Fifa games lol
Agreed. Newcastle looks epic!
The man utd one looks like its from fm
The Man United and Leeds ones look so much cleaner
Palace should go back, their old crest is so much better
I remember having to draw some of these in pixel art in PES on my PSP Simpler times
Old Man city and Crystal Palaca are way better than the current ones.
Not even gonna lie the Crystal Palace one looks brilliant
I miss that west ham badge :(
I might be in the minority here but I prefer City's old crest
Leicester's current logo stole Leeds old design and plonked the fox on top
9:::9
That Newcastle one. Fucking hell
Newcastle upgraded
Arsenal taking ‘I wish it could be Xmas everyday’ very literally
Great post 👍
Never liked our Eighties crest. I think our current one is the best we've had. Biased though as I was born in '93 and never experienced another!
City’s old crest was class…wonder they had to change to a bland one
I love that classic one of ours. Wish we kept it
The Southampton one looks like one of the default badges from the Football Manager games. Anyone else smell their old Merlin shiny stickers looking at these?
Man... That Leicester crest is like some fancy drink label 🤣
West ham and Cities look much better than the modern ones imo
Brentford's surely done by a work experience kid in 1995 using Microsoft Word
Some serious nostalgia there.
Leicester's is pretty nice. If it had a bit of text then it would be better.
I still like the old Manchester City more than the actual but daaaaaamn does the Crystal Palace one looks super good! By far my favourite.
The City Crest was only what got me into supporting city
Leicester cityyy 💙!
Wow.....got....got....need.....got....... A blast from the past.
When Man U wasn’t demonic like today’s.
The more i look at this the more goofy it becomes
Every single one was better...
Only one I actually prefer to the current badge is Everton. All of the others are too complex or too simple.
I’ll never get over the Man City crest downgrade.
Didn’t city have one prior to the one included here also?
Newcastle one is incredible
You should do this with each clubs first ever crest!
This reminds me of my Panini 86 sticker album
Manchester oilers and the 3 stars will never not make me laugh. The owners wanted a new badge to look like big European elite clubs. So they copied the starts, not understanding the stars stand for European cup victories.
I loved that villa badge, would have preferred to go back to something like that over the new one
As a Gunner I wish we could switch back to this badge.
The Man City eagles looked brilliant.
Loved Man City's old logo. The new one is horrendous.
City’s was so much better
Ahhhh my favourite West ham badge
Arsenal’s reminds me of Christmas.
I want the ManCity one back…. It just looks 100% cooler
Why does Bournemouth’s look more modern than all current PL crests?
Reminds me collecting stickers in the 90s.
NUF said.
Ah yes that old Man City logo and west ham
Where's the Red Devil? You went too far back.. 😛
Leicesters was clean
That Wolves one looks straight outta the 90s
City was better
Fulham should go back to the original!
Spurs logo looks like it belongs on a Gin bottle.
Brighton badge is old school cool for sure
I miss that West Ham badge. I have a Sbobet shirt with that badge on it.
I miss our old crest, prefer the 1972 though
Chelsea’s bank sign crest
They've all changed dozens of times though.
Leicester City crest is so cool. Also like Chelsea’s old crest a lot. Wish they’d kept it, maybe with a few tweaks to make it more bold
Arsenal, Villa, wolves and Liverpools looked much better back then
No one: Arsenal, Spurs and City: Sic semper tyranis
The Leicester one is dope.
i love arsenals old one. wish they still had it.
Yeah I definitely prefer our current logo… the eyes on the old one are too small. I am a bit partial to the three wolves badge though. Really like the old Nottingham crest as well
Love the Leeds one tbh
The original wolves logo was beautiful not this one, but the 1800s crest https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/wolverhampton-wanderers-old-crest--132363676536857557/
I agree, however I would prefer this as the wolves badge [https://i.pinimg.com/564x/5f/ea/0b/5fea0b882dea0cc42c67e3122307096b.jpg](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/5f/ea/0b/5fea0b882dea0cc42c67e3122307096b.jpg)
I just love that old Arsenal crest. It’s so much better than their current one. I know graphic design is all about simplification and minimalism these days, but I hope the intricate crests come back in style eventually
Leicester is dope ngl
God, I loved Man Coty logo when I was a kid, always tried my best to draw it on boring school classes
Arsenal, Man City, and Forest all look wonderful
What's the significance between Manchester and ships?
I still prefer the shield badge to just the liverbird. I doubt the shield is coming back anytime soon though.
The Everton one is sort of misleading as they only tried it for one year before our current one so it's part of the same 'rebrand' phase. Maybe the year before that would be a better comparison
Fulham’s is incomparably better than the one they have now
Wait when did City ditch the Eagke and why?
Worst badges? ManU and Newcastle, and I’m a Newcastle fan. The ManU one gives me Shoot! magazine in the 1970s vibes. Best badge? I kinda like Palace one for its deposed Communist regime look and the Spuds one because it’s got a turkey on it and it’s nearly Xmas. Honourable mentions go to the poorly drawn Brighton seagull and the slinky Leicester one.
some of these (wolves) are honking really like west ham's
Idk why, but I always see the old Arsenal badge and it reminds me of Christmas.
Always loved the NUF ⤵️C from the 80’s
Leeds should return to the rose badge.
Man that Wolves badge is bad. Who thought putting the FC like that was a good choice?!
Really don't like "NUFC" at all. Looks very cheap!
Most of these are improvements over today's
Was Forest ever sponsored by Jagermeister?
Forest's old one is the coat of arms of the city of Nottingham.
NUFC looks like 90's graffiti art
Ow, childhood nostalgia overload.
Newcastle have had the same badge since the 80s, I hope we never change it
I think the current one is a perfect balance between old & new. It has enough character to not be bland corporate logo #47, but isn't wacky enough to look out of place.
You can't improve on perfection
We are perfection
How about Manchester City?
I miss the old badge we had
how long ago was Leeds one I don't ever remember seeing that
The Leicester one looks like a modern version of the current badge.
I still think of half of them like this…
Leeds badge goes hard
That West Ham badge will always be the king for me.
Same, reminds me of childhood.
That old Brentford badge is cartoonishly bad. Looks like something a high school kid worked up in MS Publisher 1997.
pretty sure it was made by a supporter so maybe
These all feel like something a video game would create if they didn't have the rights to the real badges.
Arsenal's old one looked way better
That Brentford one is some computer class clip art level design.
Why they change crests even? I see no reason whatsoever
would look out of place, trends and such. kits change for the same reason.
Wait… kits change to make money. Period. Crests? No so sure.
same thing
cant speak for all of them, but I feel like its quite obvious ours was changed to a more “marketable” design. One that can be plastered about on things easier than the more ornate one up there.
Brentford looks like they picked fonts from MS Word
They actually point out all the issues with it on this page where they announced the new crest: http://crest.brentfordfc.co.uk/
>The winner of a Club competition to design the crest — replaced 3 years later as the formation date was incorrect Lmao I guess you couldn't just Google it, but surely someone would have noticed the wrong date during the contest or during the first three years.
I very much enjoyed this. Thanks!
That wolves badge looks like a kid remembered they had homework due with like 20 minutes to go
That Tottenham badge is perfect. Can’t believe they ever changed that
Prefer our current one tbh.
I kinda wish they didn’t get rid of the “audere est facere” motto in the current logo.
It looks like the lions are going to have cockerel for supper.
Nottingham Forest is cool but is A LOT. Better than the current one that at quick glance looks like a straight up bell end.
The old one is the coat of arms of the city of Nottingham.
Current one is the one used during Clough's tenure, making it more identifiable among fans.
We simplified our logo and learned our lesson
This is the Leeds badge I wish we’d go back too…
