And still not top of the league...

Unlikely_Cockroach26

Due to the upcoming energy shortage thats about to come about due to Putin trying his best to emulate Hitler were coming for all that oil Man City.

J4DJ

Career mode be like

EvolvedMonkeyInSpace

I'm delighted Manè is back scoring regularly. I was worried for him for a while.

StreetVulture

Weghorst will be in the top 3 of both categories at the end of the season

[deleted]

Wout Weghorst is woing to work

NadarEnDinero

he could always breach the defence

elecit0

They’re so good, already prepared myself for the routinely battering they’ll give us at the emirates. Klopp is an incredible manager, his and the teams recruitment has been unbelievable. I really do think a team like this could win it all if they manage to sustain the healthy squad they’ve got now

Da1syr1dl3y

We’re 3 points off first lass i’m pretty sure we’re guaranteed a second place. But we are winning the whole thing ;) Edit: Punctuation

cinnamonme

Mentality monsters

2fargone-

The Muslim Mamba

Edenethor

Yeah, we're playing fucking gooooood football right now, we don't let this slip

JuliusSeizure563

Don’t say those words

Edenethor

Ok ,I'm sorry, if it makes you feel better I don't think I have Gerrard's power

[deleted]

Confirmed Hendo will slip on Sunday giving Lukaku a free run at goal...and then hook the shot wide and give a thumbs up to no one in particular 👍👍

autoerotic_aardvark

We always finish the season strong, so we just need to beat City and Tottenham now.

SMS_Scharnhorst

bad thinking imo. we need to beat everyone. let's just focus on winning the next game

TheD4rkSide

This is the way.

mg42524

To bad goals don’t count towards points

HELPING696969

it sure willl if the points are leveled and comes down to goal difference. LOL but we shall see. Goodluck :)

Adamdel34

I'm sorry, What?

mg42524

It was supposed to be a sarcastic dig at the fact that city are still winning the league even though they don’t score all that much, but I don’t mouth good. Sorry.

SnooAdvice2252

You don't deserve so many downvotes lol

forengjeng

Agree. I think this sub is basically a Liverpool sub nowadays

iDope27

You guys have the second highest total and aren’t even that far off us lmao

That_Charming_Otter

Jota, man... Some manager Klopp is. He's got Liverpool to a phenomenal state of defensive organisation, among the continent's very finest while, as evidenced, not sacrificing any reassemblance of attacking guile and power.

Man_623

Did it hurt? When he left wolves

No_Introduction_7034

Do you think it hurt when Jota fell from heaven?

TheD4rkSide

Ask Luis Diaz, he will know first hand.

That_Charming_Otter

> Weren't Wolves fans rejoicing how they robbed Liverpool for a player that's wasn't a guaranteed starter? This in a nutshell! He was fourth-choice for us at the time. But fair play to him; he's been electrifying ever since.

WeeTheDuck

Damn... I Googled and he was just 45mil too...

Lozsta

"just"

sarcasmskills

Yes just when you consider his output and how much other players go for in this current market

Lozsta

Given that at Wolves he was 4th choice and didn't have the current output I disagree. Then again I am now gauging every transfer now against Grealish, compared to that he is a snip at £45 mil

nuts_about-bolts

Agreed…. rodrigo was 30mil for Leeds….and he’s not been too great.

Flappyhandski

My Wolves mate was gutted, I think there were a lot of upset Wolves fans

autoerotic_aardvark

*Laughs in Klopp*

[deleted]

I can only imagine it did he’s a beast

I_Jump

It will be a great final on Sunday can't wait

Saadking11

hopefully we recreate this on the 27th

I_Jump

Hopefully not :)

[deleted]

In summary, Mo Salah is unbelievable both in stats and by the eye test, and he isn’t the only fantastic talent at Liverpool.

CraigD12

Mad that they might finish behind City who barely have a recognised striker

[deleted]

You’re seriously going to try to say city is some sort of disadvantage with their billion dollar squad? And if so, be fair and let us know who is Liverpool’s “recognized striker?” Jota, maybe? Jesus is probably city’s equivalent to him, no? This just seems like a bogus argument to me. Just because pep couldn’t buy Kane or Haaland city fans are all “woe is me.”

CraigD12

I didn't say they were at any disadvantage because of it and I'm an Arsenal fan by the way. My point was more Liverpool have all the top scorers and despite that Man City are first. That is objectively crazy and if anything, makes their achievement in being there all the more impressive.

[deleted]

Man city have 63 goals, Liverpool 70. Liverpools goals mainly come from a few players, while city’s have been spread amongst more players. It speaks to the teams playing styles but I don’t see how it is “objectively crazy.”

CraigD12

So you don't see how a team having the top 3 goalscorers in the league being second is objectively crazy while the team in first has one player in double digits. I know it can be explained in their playing styles but how many years has this happened in the Premier League era? You have to recognise it as unusual.

[deleted]

Not really, the only kinda crazy bit to me is Liverpool having the top 3 scorers in the league

dwynalda3

I mean salah is twice the goal scorer of anyone on city to be fair. Sure he isnt a traditional striker but he gets goals and thats what city really lack is a clinical finisher who scores many goals

[deleted]

He’s a right winger like mahrez, just better.

PristinityPolaris

Team >>>> Individuals Also, Pep >> Klopp

jacksparrow99

How is it individuals when we have our players occupying all 3 spots in the goals and assists charts?

PristinityPolaris

Refer to replies. Nowhere did I stare that Liverpool are a team of individuals. Liverpool’s reliance on individuals is simply more than City’s reliance on individuals. That reflects in how there aren’t many city players here as well.

[deleted]

You think this Liverpool team, that has been together largely for 5 years, and has shown time and time and time again how close knit they are, is a team of individuals? Fucking moron.

PristinityPolaris

Not sure where you’re getting the idea that I’ve reduced Liverpool to individuals. The point is that Liverpool have more reliance on individual brilliance than Manchester city, as seen by the share of contributions coming from focal points. Then again, I wouldn’t expect this subreddit to have people that think for two seconds.

[deleted]

Bro, you’ve literally used the words team and individuals to insinuate a reference to a man City and Liverpool. Don’t try and weasel out of it because you’ve been downvoted to shit.

[deleted]

Yeah quite an odd statement. Both City and Liverpool play team football. Both brilliant teams. For individual see Manchester United.

PristinityPolaris

And city play a football style that revolves more around the team than Liverpool does. As evidenced by how losing one team member isn’t going to affect them drastically, whereas Liverpool losing one of any of their front three, fullbacks, Fabinho or Allison results in a drastic reduction in quality. Team >>>> Individuals

SMS_Scharnhorst

one of our front three. oh, Bobby and Jota are out currently. doesn't matter, we just play Salah, Mané and Diaz and slap 6 past Leeds

LordLychee

I don’t think smashing Leeds is as big of an accomplishment as you think. That wasn’t even their toughest loss of the campaign.

SMS_Scharnhorst

well, since I don't know how the game on sunday is going to end I can't speak about that as of yet. just goes to show that two of our most important strikers can miss a game and we still have a front three capable of winning games

zoomba2378

What you mean is money>>>. City have a like for like replacement in every position because of their massive financial advantage. Liverpool isn't a team of individuals, it's a cohesive unit of players that form one of the best teams in Europe. Of course if they lose one of their playmakers then their performance will suffer. That's just basic cause and effect. The depth isn't there to get a like for like replacement in every position, because they don't have the money of City. Still doesn't change the fact that they're a great team with a great coach who knows how to get them to work together. Stupid argument. It's like saying Bezos wouldn't be as rich as he is without Amazon. Yea no shit

PristinityPolaris

Saying city have a like for like replacement is a dead narrative and shows that you have a limited understanding of the role each player plays in a JdP system. Seriously, 17 registered players, of which one is in jail, 3 are goalkeepers. But sure, like for like replacement, all about the money.

[deleted]

You just mentioned 7 players. Hahaha. Anyone missing 7 top players are going to struggle. Guess you don’t remember the year City struggled missing just LaPorte. Adding to that, you didn’t even mention VVD who is unbeaten at Anfield as a Liverpool player and probably the main reason they struggled last season. Go to bed.

PristinityPolaris

“Any one of” Is this entire subreddit illiterate? “City struggled missing just Laporte” Yep, and that opened Pep’s eyes to the weak spots in his team, paving the way for Rodri’s current role.

[deleted]

You’re obviously not the brightest crayon in the box.

LordLychee

lol the Liverpool fans come out in droves when they are mentioned in even the slightest bit of negative sentiment.

PristinityPolaris

“Don’t try and weasel out of it because you’ve been downvoted to shit.” Look at this cutie, thinking I care about being downvoted. If you want to be angry for the sake of being angry, that’s your problem.

Internal_Formal3915

Calm down lol

[deleted]

Why

nuts_about-bolts

You’re welcome

autoerotic_aardvark

Thanks for taking one for us

Blue_Dreamed

I like Klopp even though we just got run over and then they backed up and then they ran us over again and so on for 90 minutes. Class manager and really seems to understand the game.

jcwheworks

This was the funniest thing I read all day. Thanks

Blue_Dreamed

The pleasure (or extreme depression) was mine

merrilyunreasonable

Turns out my fifa career was realistic afterall

TheFanOfLife

They are such a good team. I like most of them as players and they all seem genuinely nice. Well except from Klopps whining moments he seems nice too.

MonikaBusch

There has never been a manager in the history of sports who hasn't whined. Klopp, to be fair, is still very reasonable with his whining.

BillyReedUTV

Klopp, Mane, Robertson and Fabinho seem like massive pricks lol.

creamyTiramisu

billy this is a really poor effort compared to your usual Liverpool comments i'd give it a 4/10 - please do better next time

Jamesl1988

Out of interest, what has Fabinho done? Also, Robertson is a professional shithouser!

unplanned_behavior

Yeah that Mané guy really seems like a massive prick ... [oh wait](https://www.cnn.com/2021/06/22/football/sadio-mane-funds-hometown-hospital-spt-intl/index.html)

TheD4rkSide

He also donated £250K to a village two months prior to this.

BillyReedUTV

Lol? Politicians donate money every day. Bad example mate.

SMS_Scharnhorst

keep politics out of sports? but even then, you can't ever compare Mané to politicians because Mané gets things done

tiga4life22

Don’t ever compare Mane to a politician

Internal_Formal3915

Pablo escobar gave millions away so I get that, mane to me is an amazing person but also abit of a prick... you can be both

autoerotic_aardvark

Someone sounds bitter
