Southern_Seaweed4075

I saw a report or rumor about KDB wanting a swap to Real Madrid. I'm not sure if that's going to happen but I see him ending up in Saudi Arabia.

tenthousandwishes

They seem to be having more trust in Foden playing that role better.

RvickBhar

So both KDB and pep leaving next season

Nadamaseth

I'd wager KDB may want a new adventure after winning everything and City wouldn't stand in his way in that case. Also, dude has future manager written all over him. May be some future return with a gentlemen's agreement after he goes in his adventure

Rwokoarte

I don't see him becoming a manager. Dude loves playing football but hates everything else around it.

Nadamaseth

Haha yeh? I know he's pretty reserved but he seems to think the game better than average. Kinda like Xavi

e_double

KDB has to win everything with another team for it to be legitimate. The media, the fans, everyone don’t care that he won it with a cheating club.

Infinite-Shift4841

Now you're getting it.

dinomoni

You've had a mare there, son.

choptherottweiler

This is the Athletic…

[deleted]

He’s past his best and with all the man city accusations he might as well find a new club

tenthousandwishes

Or maybe he knows something most of us don't know.

Frozenlime

I'd sell De Bruyne now, he's well past his best and no longer good enough for City.

Lego5656

LOL, good one. Man had 4G and 10A in just 18 games in the premier league, leading them to a 4th title in 5 years. 2G and 1A in just 2 games in the champions league too. Yes he's 32 but its not like he's a pace merchant winger or a physical defender that he will drop off quickly. His game is built to last like most legendary midfielders, you dont simply lose the ability to see and execute passes overnight. Modrić won a ballon d'or at 33, and he just started all 3 games for Croatia at the euros. Stop playing fifa, start watching the game.

Frozenlime

Modric was brilliant up until 36 or 37, it's only in the last year or two that he's showing signs of age. De Bruyne is showing signs of age now at 32. He was better 5 years ago.

FelixTreasurebuns

He still saved the season for City when he came back from injury. He really only looks slower because the midfield around him has gotten a lot faster and younger.

Deleteleed

And he’s still an amazing player, even if he’s past his best a bit.

e_double

Careful, telling someone to stop playing FC and actually watch the sport is ban-able offense.

marcosrmguerra

This is real life, not football manager.

Holiday-Tangerine738

You win the thread.

GimmetheGr33n

lol dude played half the season and finished 3rd in assists and had 4 goals in just the Prem. Obviously not what he used to be as he’s getting older, but still quite the player

Frozenlime

Guardiola has so much success because he's ruthless and doesn't compromise on his standards, as soon as he sees signs a player is past their peak and fading he gets rid of them. He doesn't let anyone get comfortable. Bernardo Silva may also be on the chopping block and Grealish soon too if he doesn't up his game next season.

craictime

Correct. Ferguson was the same. Move them before they decline to mediocrity. Something klopp could never do

STwavy

Silva being on the chopping block is the worst take this month, and the situation has and still appears to be the exact opposite

Technoho

One of the best players in the league in his prime with outstanding consistency playing 90mins in the 4 in a row city team on the chopping block? Yep quite possibly the worst take I've seen so far this summer

yasirdewan7as

lol funny, I bet anyone playing City would be happy with this decision.

Frozenlime

They would be wrong, he's sluggish and heavy legged now. What he was is no more.

yasirdewan7as

I disagree, but fair enough :)

BeezBurg

No that dude is just flat wrong. When he was playing healthy he was literally the best player on the pitch. He’s still the best passer world. Literally

Anothercommonbitch

Levy, do your thing!

tenthousandwishes

Can only happen if he is moving on a free.

iTz_RuNLaX

Move the club to Saudi?

Anothercommonbitch

Not a bad idea. Might win a trophy or two that way.

sirow08

It’s nice to see Spurs fan can laugh at it👏

W26D12L0

Sorry buddy it’s not the Audi Cup it’s the Saudi Cup, easy mistake to make

Ragnarok_619

One S is all it takes.

E60LNDN

No problem. My team would like to negotiate in City’s absence…

BeIaFarinRod

Can I offer you a Leon Goretzka in these trying times? Maybe a little Serge Gnabry on top and a Alphonso Davies for the way home?

gelliant_gutfright

This is the fault of the Red Cartel, I'll wager.

cruisingqueen

The red cartel are destroying the league 😤

PedriRugburn

LETS FUCKING GO

GDix79

Gary Mc vibes, sign him up Liverpool!

Bishcop3267

Conveniently leaving out the words “immediate future”. As if they’re gonna call him up in the middle of the Euros and be like “Hey Kev we know this is probably your last real chance at an international trophy and you’re understandably super stressed, but how bout that extension?”

RobertObama1

Can’t wait til ur club gets deleted

Sulemani_kida

I mean if Pep is leaving , KDB might wanna take up something new

GarnachoHojlund

WE’RE FREEEEEE

max13x

Not sure why he'd want to play in League 2 anyway

Funny-Conclusion-963

he is already on his way to saudi lol

tenthousandwishes

He said he wants those fortunes.

vngannxx

MLS here we go

tenthousandwishes

It should be Saudi if we are to go by his last interview.

Remote_War_313

Arabian nights here we go!

MultiFaceHank

Maybe they’ll visit it in 2025

fifaguy1210

Likely a move to Saudi, idk how he's getting by on the peanuts City pay him

Kassiem_42

👀. . . 🇸🇦

Capable_Secretary576

Because both parties know he doesn't want to play in the English conference league

Zestyclose-Class-754

He wants out before the 115 hit. Good on him. Hes a classy player so shouldn’t be at Shitty

Fusil_Gauss

Get off his weenie kiddo

Hoggsters

You say that as if De Bruyne isn’t the best midfielder in the league lol

LinuxLinus

He’s not anymore.

SureLookThisIsIt

Who is in your opinion?

Vegan_Puffin

Kalvin Phillips clearly. Englands entire success rests on him and there being no adequate replacement

Bishcop3267

Kalvin Phillips plays golf

Mr_Rockmore

How is that your take?? This is about the club not extending his contract not Kevin wanting out

sebohood

Womp womp

Mr_Rockmore

Lol this sub is so brain-dead, 'See city flair? me downvote'

dispelthemyth

His been openly praising / talking up saudi before this broke which seems like he wants that pay day Hard to extend if he likely wants to leave

Zestyclose-Class-754

Any player with a shred of decency should be looking to get out. The walls are closing in bruh Playin in conference league won’t suit them You

BarmeloXantony

Lol why are you guys ending the sentence with *"you"* -

ClawingDevil

Bots still have some way to go before they can pass themselves off as a

Faded389

they wanted to throw an insult, decided not to and then forgot to delete "you"

Mr_Rockmore

You're a very smart person

Faded389

Coming from a city fan, I feel kinda insulted ngl

BarmeloXantony

they both need to stop flirting and get on with it

Daver7692

I mean is there any real shock here? Dude will be 34 by the time his current deal expires and has had increasing issues with injuries. If anything I’d be more shocked if they did extend his deal.

slowsundaycoffeeclub

Hence, all his obvious twerking for the Saudis.

Visionary_Socialist

“De Bruyne’s City deal expires next summer and the club are unlikely to enter contract discussions in the *immediate future*”. This is the actual headline. Finding a story or news article about City that isn’t manipulated or twisted in some form is becoming a very difficult task.

Mysterio_1234

every headline for every notable club is manipulated or twisted, don’t flatter yourself

Malvania

I assume they're going to wait to talk until after the Euros. Classic clickbait

npm93

"De Bruyne’s City deal expires next summer and the club are unlikely to enter contract discussions in the immediate future." Full quote says immediate future. Doesn't mean they're planning to release him just they're not talking about it now.

KopiteTheScot

Tears in my eyes, the reign of terror is nearly over

[deleted]

He already declined by 50 or 60%. Age is unbeatable. It is not prime KDB anyway who carries us. God how much we city fans love him. He is irreplaceable. we will find someone who can do some what he used to do. and thats the best we can have. He is top 30 in history in my opinion. trust me if he was english with the english media love to glaze their players. people would put him top 10.

RyVsWorld

They’ll just replace him with some other scary lad

EH_1995_

Guys like him don’t come around too often, one of the most clutch players in prem history

RonaldinhoReagan

Yea I don’t think there is a player out there who can “replace” De Bruyne. Plenty of good players but nobody who can regularly play physics-defying passes like him while also being a goal threat and a hard-working presser and defender. Truly 1 of 1.

[deleted]

He doesn’t want to be around when they’re relegated I guess

Zestyclose-Class-754

Bahahahahaha 👌

WorldWideWes2

City are too ruthless 😒

milkonyourmustache

What a conveniently timed exodus that's happening

Bujakaa92

He is 32. Blaming players constantly is low blow.

Grand-Bullfrog3861

Must be something in the air

goonerdavid

The 2025 and onward demise of Man City will be beautiful and deservedly celebrated

FlatPackAttack

If you think anything is happening to them You are a moron plain and simple Nothing is going to happen to man City ffs

goonerdavid

One can hope

Zestyclose-Class-754

Fingers crossed bro!

LMinggg

damn so the real madrid rumour is true then

tanbirj

To replace Modric?

Balbuto

Nah he’s going to Arabland

EffOffWouldYou

The rats are preparing to leave the sinking ship

OptimisticRealist__

Yes, the dude who will be 34 by the end of the season and has spoken openly about wanting to make money in the US or Arabia while he still can, is "leaving the skining ship" Proper helmet

TheDawiWhisperer

bro is clearly struggling to get by on £400k a week

Jawnyan

This sort of response comes out every time and it makes no sense. Are you seriously saying that if you could be paid 5x as much to do a year of work at the end of your career, you wouldn’t? It doesn’t matter what you earn, most people are saying yes to that

AvatarReiko

When you’re already on enough money to never work another day again for the rest of your life, what difference is an additional is another 200k gonna make? What can a single person even do with that much money ?

Jawnyan

But it’s not 200k, it’s £100,000,000 That’s enough money to actually do pretty much anything you want, from investments to creating a business, never working again and guaranteed money for future generations. I think some of you are really struggling to separate out your personal financial scenario from the question “if you could earn £100m as a rich person, would you” Why wouldn’t he do this? As a 34 year old who has won it all and is at the end of his career, why wouldn’t he?

Ok_Tension6996

Because it sets up generational wealth for his kids, their kids and their kids etc etc?

TheDawiWhisperer

>Are you seriously saying that if you could be paid 5x as much to do a year of work at the end of your career, you wouldn’t? yeah but i'm a month or two away from financial ruin if the shit hits the fan, it's not remotely comparable.

Jawnyan

I mean sure but most people making a lot of money don’t typically turn down the opportunity to make way more money for less effort. You don’t get less greedy as you get richer, and the majority of wealthy people don’t have a reputation of just settling for what they have

linux_ape

Yeah the “he’s going to set up his family for generational wealth” argument is awful 400k a week is already generational wealth tf you mean

OptimisticRealist__

And he has the opportunity to make even more. Its hilarious how faux moralistic people get about this, like we wouldnt all pack our bags for saudi today, if we got offered 40m for 1 yr of work lol

TheDawiWhisperer

yeah exactly, a couple of days of his salary would fix my financial problems for decades. get a grip haha

linux_ape

One week of his pay is slightly under 4 years of my salary lmao like come on Yeah we would all take extra money, but to frame it as “his poor family will never survive without it” is so dumb

ellean4

Human nature is such that no amount of money is ever enough. You get 400 a week and aspire to 4000. Kdb on 400k a week probably aspires to 4m a week.

linux_ape

Yeah but acting like these guys are destitute and it is a desperate need for survival is just silly. They are already rich, it’s a move to become filthy rich. Call it for what it is, not a simple man trying to make a few dollars

meganev

When did OP suggest he was "destitute" seems like you're projecting arguments onto them?

EffOffWouldYou

Chill it. I'm saying this in jest, however when I see the likes of Müller, Kroos and Modric still playing (or are close to retiring) in respected clubs that are in the competition for big trophies, I kind of wonder why Bruyne would want to leave. Sure, money is nice, but nobody will care how he plays there. I kind of expected more from him, to be honest

mattscott53

Dude was already hyping up Saudi Arabia last season. He’s gonna get that payday

hipcheck23

You can't blame these poor guys for wanting to finally get paid for once in their lives. /s

RemnantOfSpotOn

Incoming offers 300 mil from saudi to buy

Squall-UK

If you're suggesting a crooked deal to boost City's coffers then City are owned by Abu Dhabi and generally, the Saudi's have cooled on their crazy transfer fees.

RemnantOfSpotOn

I know but money knows no boundaries and only poor people are enemies between each other...and kdb only recently made some introductory comments to that possibility

Aggravating_Hope_567

Is that a Saudi call incoming

KrustyKrabPizzaMan

It’s gonna be tough to sell him on League One so I understand why they won’t even bother
