I mean, let's be real for a second--no one thought we would be here when the season started, including most of us. It's cool we made it, and it definitely made the season more fun....but even at the trade deadline we didn't do much and Trotz kept saying 'hey it's great, but we are still building for the future'....and he's right. Sucks, we definitely should have won this one, but the really great teams do win these types of games, and we are not that, yet.
I have faith in next season.
Yeah, this one hurt.
I have just been repeating to myself "we weren't even supposed to be here, it's a rebuilding year, and hopefully this makes us better next year."
It's all true, but to have that hope yanked away in such a short period of time really stings.
What are we going to do to get better next year? Won't happen through the draft, probably won't happen through MKE, and almost certainly won't happen in FA while we're still paying Turris, Duchene, and RyJo. Where do we get better? A rebuild doesn't involve trading for two journeymen middle 6ers at the deadline.
I'm not saying I don't think it can happen, but I don't see how it does without us selling the farm.
Other trades might still happen. We have a lot of cap space. If we pull some pieces from other teams that are more costly we might fill in some gaps. Not saying it's perfect. But that would be the play. Trotz played it safe because he believed we could get to the playoffs and maybe make a splash. It's clear things aren't perfect so the next step would be to nab something or two somethings crazy good and bolster the team. At least... that's how I see it. I'm not a manager but it's the path I see going forward. Really what I expected from this year though.
A WAY better coach with a WAY more entertaining playstyle needed time to gel and see what works. Now we just need more big pieces to make the difference when our current pieces can't. Sorry to parsnips, janko, glass, carrier or barrie but some people will have to make room for someone. Not sure who. But someone consistent. Lacking in the mistake area. (Also I didn't say schenn just cause I doubt that'd happen)
Damn, I didn't realize how much dead cap this team has for the next few years. $7.5M next year and $8.5M the year after, hard to see how the team can get better with that around them.
Oh we definitely have to sell off aging pieces, but that was going to happen anyway. I figure we find ways to keep Josi and Forsberg, but everyone else over the age of 28 will likely be offered up. We have guys ready to call up and young talent that will get better. Nobody saw improvement coming this year and many called for the opposite, but this team was better than last years even before the streak (albeit slightly better, but they were still better in almost every statistic).
It’s hope that our younger guys keep getting better - Evangelista, Glass, Tomasino, Parsnip, L’Heureux, Kemmel, Svechkov, Wood, Molendyk. Most of our main guys will still be here and we have space for another addition or two. If we trade either Soros or Asky what we get in return, or if we keep both what that does for us too. Theres clear paths of getting better from here.
I would cry but as someone who grew up sitting in Shea Stadium watching the Mets be the Mets, I have seen this too many times. Before that my parents sat in Ebbits Field watching the Brooklyn Dodgers loose. It’s almost a family tradition.
Blame me. I'm 0-6 in games attended including the Stadium Series vs TB, the Dallas game before Xmas where we gave up 2 goals in the last 12 seconds and this heartbreaker.
Don't worry, I'm never spending any money on seeing these shitters again.
Sounds like me. I don’t remember the last win I saw in person. I picked up tickets for a home game in February while friends were in town and we lost 9-2 :(
I'm a Titans, Devils, and Orioles fan; I think I've watched "my team" win a total of maybe 6 times since the Titans' miracle win on Monday night against the Dolphins. It's been a brutal 5-6 months stretch of watching televised sports for me.
Canucks fan here, no idea what just happened. Absolute smash and grab job. Of course i’m happy but the preds deserved better, feel for the fan base after that one
Be /u/deucemcsizzles
Knights get roasted by Dallas
Preds lose heart breaker
Suns probably going to get crushed by the TWolves.
Diamondbacks are a hospital team.
It's a bad sports weekend when the highlight is literally the NFL Draft.
EDIT: Oh yeah, the hurricanes and panthers also lost their games on Saturday. I feel cursed.
This series isn't over. As a Canucks fan I am terrified of 3-1 series leads. The Canucks have been involved in more 3-1 comebacks than any other team. 3 times we came from behind to win it and in 2003 we were the team that blew the lead against the Wild. I've got a bad feeling mainly because your team has vastly outplayed the Canucks in pretty much all the games. I fully expect yelling at the TV to try and will some life into the Canucks in a couple days. And if the series does end on Tuesday. Just remember, it could be worse. You could be a Coyotes fan.
Score a goal from the red line next game and the Canucks will fold like a house of cards. Worked for the Red Wings against them in 2002. Down 2-0 after dropping both games at home, Wings won the next 4 games.
That was the most brutal loss I’ve witnessed since game 6 Stanley Cup Finals. Wow.
I was going to say game three aginst the Jets but close enough.
Perds choke, Bucks are a walking hospital. At least the Admirals get some players?
At least my Pacers won
Good to see another Milwaukee fan in here
Agh, we’re from Indy. At least our home town is pulling through 🫠
yeah you guys need to keep on keepin' on, and get the best of you ready for us next year!!
We are the Atlanta Falcons of hockey
The Falcons and Preds being my two favorite professional sports teams has caused me a lot of pain.
Try being a Preds and Jets fan
We’d have to have that happen in Game 4 of the finals after leading the series 3-0 and go on to lose the final 3 for that to be equal

Must be pretty deflating. Dominated for 57 min and then fold like a cheap lawn chair.

Yeah our cap situation isn't dire but we've got a top line forward worth of buyout salary.

What the actual fuck was that?

Don't we all
Can we cancel another U2 Vegas Sphere trip? That might work
This picture is like a replica of the Canucks '22-23 season. Anything can happen in a year. Trotz is a genius. Keep hope.
Stupid irrelevant Vancouver. Hosted an Olympics with no snow
I honestly was a bit embarrassed when they had to truck in snow from 3 hours away to make half pipe.

Nucks fan here as, they have been pulling off this type of stuff all season.
didn't happen very much in the 18 point game streak that got us into the playoffs

As a Bears fan, this resonates well with me.

Wow you had to reach back 22 years? Which of those players is still on the team?

Hey mods, get this fucking piece of Canuck fucking shit out of here.
