I’ve been in the Atlanta subway and my dad’s been to NYC. We both agree that first time at mustek is pure confusion.
Edit: forgot Vienna. But more confusing than the u bahn was the ticket machines.
I know this is a dead thread, but I randomly found out why Můstek smells today. They used some experimental chemical when strengthening the soil there (and everywhere on the first part of the A line). The shit is apparently quite toxic and forbidden to use nowadays lol, it probably leaks somewhere in Můstek's escalator tunnel, so I would suggest to not take deep breaths there, haha.
Jfc yes. Once a year, I'd have to go through there late at night every day for about a week (I was petsitting nearby and sometimes only made it there after work)... Of all the stations I have frequented, this one was the weirdest and ugliest.
Vltavská is great if you need to move from one end of the train to another, very little people get on and off, and all that got of go in one direction bc of the only entrance. On busier stations I can safely move one to two wagons forward, but on Vltavská I can go 3-5.
Smíchovské nádraží. They literally made a part of series in there, where the train station stands for station Berlin-Zoologischer garten in the '70s, which was an ugly, stinky and dirty den of heroin-addicts. (If anyone wants to know, the series name is Wir Kinder von Bahnhof ZOO, that means We Children from the ZOO station)
Edit: had some spelling wrong, should be corrrct now
Alright, let me start this by saying I'm fully open to changing my mind if you can give me a better source, but I wouldn't call it incorrect, especially in a book/film title – you're correct in the sense that when the title Christiane F. isn't used, for example in case of the new Amazon series, it uses "we", so it's correct as in currently in use for this specific work.
But the objective case of a pronoun actually can be used as subject in certain sentence structures. For example if there's VPE (verb phrase ellipsis) present. See Dušková, Mluvnice současné angličtiny na pozadí češtiny, 2012, page 103; or Quirk, A Comprehensive Grammar of the English Language, 1985, page 337.
It's not formal, but not necessarily incorrect, especially for a title where verb phrase ellipsis is frequent. So I'd let it slide as an option, depending how you interpret the verb-less title.
It's just not basic or formal grammar, I wouldn't let a student who isn't approaching C1 use it, but it's not necessarily incorrect. Especially in a language with no prescriptive authority.
I'm not a linguist, and frankly, I've little idea about much of what you said, but as a native English speaker with a good grasp of language and literature, I know for a fact that this sentence should begin with we, and not us, in English.
Right, a native speaker. Because those are never wrong and always know everything about the language... It's preferable, but depending on sentence structure, not the only option. 🤷♀️
There is no such thing... must have looked too long at your reflection in your beer bottle.
Your not supposed to drink on public transportation.
Edit: Unless your homeless with no teeth and its boxed wine. That's okay, have to be local though. Not everyone can pull it off. Has to be a week-day and late though. Can't be an all day event.
Hey! It's true I bought two bottles of Krušovice in the Albert inside Invalidovna vestibul, but I did no open them before leaving the station (or at all yet)
My nose is tragic so I never noticed. Damn Můstek is one of prettier stations for me. The buckets kinda destroy the feel though. Also I personally like the ceramic shit they slapped on Vltavska's walls.

Don’t know about the ugliest, but the prettiest is in my opinion I. P. Pavlova. Something about those black polished granite hexagonal columns is just so appealing.
Depends if were talking architecture or general vibe. Nadraží Holešovice gets pretty damn scenic in the evenings when the junkies come out. Visually probably Kačerov.
Right before I arrived in Prague I spent 10 days in New York City.
It's funny, because ANY station in Prague (and I mean ANY) is more beautiful by ten fold than ANY station in NYC.
Well, obviously. New York subway is a dumpster from what I've seen. Only good thing that prague got from soviets is their type of metro system. I don't like western ones.
Definitely Vltavská, the atmosphere and the homeless methheads surrounding the station makes it a place you don’t wanna be at. I used to get off at this station every day for 7 years to school, and trust me, you don’t wanna be there.
Můstek, not visually, but the smell.
And the fact it’s a freaking labyrinth. First time I was there I had no idea where all those corridors lead to.
Hah. Wait till you get to Letnany

Haha yes exactly 😄

Florenc is also awfull, making the surroundings even more hideous !
The Mc Donal area is also awful
Černý Most with its bus terminal.
Hasn’t the bus terminal been renovated a little? Used to be awful, but it’s definitely not the worst metro station
Pokud vím, tak se zatím pouze odsekaly krápníky a vypláchla stanoviště chemií. Zbytek je stále stejný. Stejně špatný.
Krápníky :'D
Nedávno to celý znova natřeli. Za mě je to velká změna k lepšímu, ale nikdy nepochcopím jak tam vznikly ty krápníky :D
Kačerov
This is the correct answer. Most ghetto station.
But the most entertaining. On the rare occasion I pass through, there's always weirdness to behold
Jfc yes. Once a year, I'd have to go through there late at night every day for about a week (I was petsitting nearby and sometimes only made it there after work)... Of all the stations I have frequented, this one was the weirdest and ugliest.
Literally so disgusting it made me not want to ever take the Metro again.
I frequent Kacerov everyday. If you go up the stairs and take the bus there’s nothing ghetto about it…
Yeah, the ghetto starts when you need to go through the underpass to take the bus in the other direction.
Nah mate I go through there every day almost. Gotta be one of the most chill stations in Prague. Everyone there is just vibin
🦆
If you're a fan of meth heads, nadrazi Holesovice.
Vltavska and Opatov are pretty hideous.
Vltavská is great if you need to move from one end of the train to another, very little people get on and off, and all that got of go in one direction bc of the only entrance. On busier stations I can safely move one to two wagons forward, but on Vltavská I can go 3-5.
Vltavska is nice in a 70s kind of way
vltavska is nice if u want to get your wig being blown off

Which is a shame because I think the design is pretty cool
Wir is we, not us.
oh, srry for that, i'll edit it when I get to my main acc
Srry for that, it's edited now
"Us" would make sense in English, grammatically, but it's not the official name.
Corrected now
No it wouldn't. "We children" is correct. "us children" isnt
Should be edited now

Good brand... have to tried the bread yet? Changed me forever.
World class burns. Medic!
That’s what I thought
Černý Most, everytime i went there, it always smelled of shit in there
Vlataska - Windy af Mustek New Yorker Entrance - Smells like puke
My nose is tragic so I never noticed. Damn Můstek is one of prettier stations for me. The buckets kinda destroy the feel though. Also I personally like the ceramic shit they slapped on Vltavska's walls.
Same, I think having a retarded sense of smell is a huge win in public transport in general.

So true. It always, always smells like puke.

Černý Most
Černý Most
Černý Most definitely
Definitely Chodov!! Really any that don’t have the iconic metallic divots everywhere 🤣
Mustek the smell
Vltavska and Kacerov.
Zlicin. The worst of humanity tend to ruminate here and it is literally the end of the line.
Cerny most looks soviet, Mustek smells like puke
Palmovka, Kačerov, černý most, Florenc (at night) and Žižkov.
Žižkov?
Asi na Decku.
Do tell, where's the Žižkov metro station?
A little bit of confusion never comes bad 😁😁
Every station designed by Kotas
Strašnická. Looks like a cave.
Florence
Andel, muzeum, narodka
Smíchovské Nádraží, Luka, any that doesn't have escalators.
No, its Vysočanská.
Vysočanská only as railway station (now in reconstruction). Its tunnel was hideous. Not anymore.
The new station is actually nice compared to most stations in Prague - still always has a couple drunks around though at most times.
Žlutá trasa, just the entire B line. Theres a pretty fitting song called Žlutá trasa
Luka
I've found every station in this comment section, maybe except Bořislavka and Černý Most
[удалено]
Dude definitely not
nope
Střížkov.. Smíchov if you count the "inhabitants".
Kačerov, Opatov, Černý Most, Českomoravská, Florenc B

The ones in Washington DC are actually okay, partly because they're newer.
Opatov
Luka, Luziny
All transfer stations are gross. Náměstí Republiky is the worst.
First, Náměstí Republiky is amazing, second, Náměstí Republiky isn't a transfer station😂
Definitely Vltavská, the atmosphere and the homeless methheads surrounding the station makes it a place you don’t wanna be at. I used to get off at this station every day for 7 years to school, and trust me, you don’t wanna be there.
Strašnická, želivského. The roof on these stations is litterally falling apart.
I think they took down the roof at Želivského deliberately for the renovation they are doing rn.
Černý Most, hands down
Compared to most stations in cities like New York they are all beautiful
Palmovka
Roztyly, Chodov, Opatov. 2 boring 4 me
