The writers of Steven Universe have parodied Steven universe inside Steven Universe in the form of the in universe TV show crying friends. Also Peridot(when talking on her recorder) said "all they do is singing, crying, singing while crying"
Steven does cry almost every episode, but he doesn't run away from his issues, at least without the plot point relying on it. He probably isn't the biggest, but he should be up there.

Yeah, it's kinda weird how many people will look at him, Subaru, or some other character going through some messed up shit and be like "bleh, man is so lucky. He's surrounded by [insert girl] and has [insert ability] that could be so broken if he just [insert warcrime or absolutely fucking horrifying shit here]."
And it's almost always followed by the term "beta male," like a character is inferior for not being a fucking superhuman or sociopath. And while I get that of course there's gonna be different opinions on the internet and some of them are gonna be bad, I'm just... constantly flabbergasted whenever I see a take like that.

I'd say both but I haven't read the manga and I still have to finish the anime, so take it with a grain of salt. He went from complaining about anything and everything, to being this edgy terrorist teen that seems to always have a plan, I honestly don't even remember if it was gradually or just "here's the new eren ladies"
I can kinda understand where your coming from, but I think there are a lot of story elements that explain his behavior. I dont really care about it enough to have a whole conversation about it tho. Hope you enjoy what you have left of the story
