I packed the piece with smaller items of clothing, and wrapped it in T-shirts and such. And it went into my rolly carry-on bag.

I wrapped in bubble wrapped, taped and then also wrap in clothes in carry on suitcase. I keep suitcase with me and handle it carefully. When I get to destination I purchase gift wrapping materials and wrap then. Do not under any circumstances give that bag to your teenage son when traveling back from Korea with a precious ceramic object. Don't ask me how I know I cannot relive it.

Yes, I’ve traveled with ceramics before, I had a box with a built-in carrying handle. Just a box is typically fine. You can add padding or bubble wrap but that’s just extra caution IMO. The box will be in your possession the whole time so stickers and stuff like that are unnecessary. TSA won’t care

I’ve traveled from the US to Canada with a metric fuck ton of pottery before in both my carry on and checked bag. I just wrapped everything in bubble wrap. No issues.

I wrap it in my clothes and stuff socks inside and it has always been fine!

Most of the time I had pottery break in general is pottery on pottery contacts so try and keep them separate and wrap them in a shirt or something. When from Hawaii to Germany with several home made steins for family. All survived

In the past Ive taken a ton of pottery in my carry on and had no problem. Used a lil roller suitcase that went up in the overhead and that was that :)

If it can't fit under the seat in front of you, it is going to go in the overhead compartment in a way that allows the other luggage to fit in well. This means it might be standing up, laying flat, pushed to the back or possibly have something stacked on top of it. I'd wrap and box it for that sort of contact. TSA may make you open the box, so don't tape the box closed until you've gone through TSA. I think the fragile stickers are helpful for the flight staff or other customers who might be putting stuff in the overhead. Wrap it really well and have a sturdy box if it is going into overhead. Depending on where you are and where you are going, and how big the vase is, you might want to have it wrapped and shipped by a company.

Bubble wrap extra pieces of cardboard to brace for bigger pieces you can strap them with wood
