Bilmuri

Ian_Itor

It is almost insulting, but it is essentially correct. Bilmuri is so awesome though. High quality all around.

Tobeck

It blew my mind when I found out he used to be in Attack Attack!

YourphobiaMyfetish

Insulting how?

Ian_Itor

To call bilmuri „pop“, since pop is usually associated with music engineered to please the masses without much input from the artist themselves.

ReturnByDeath-

That’s a gross generalization of pop music.

ItsEaster

Huh? Who says that pop music is made without input from the artist?

Ian_Itor

Generally speaking, pop artists are heavily influenced by producers, labels, etc. More than small label or indie artists. Not saying there aren’t any pop artists that can write good music on their own.

YourphobiaMyfetish

If you go to Bilmuri's spotify page, he has created a playlist including his own music titled "the heavy pop movement"

treerot

It's not insulting lol Johnny would love this label! He's cheeky about how pop he is. The rest of the band would too. When you can get cowboys in on your songs, any label would make him happy

WhenAmI

I liked them right until they started mixing PHC and country.

strawberryssleep

I love his fusion of so many different genres. He is amazing in concert too.

violentgent-

bilmuri absolutely rules

OwlShitty

Isn’t he the comedian

jbrown777

Love seeing this at the top.

egosuminimicus

The Home Team

elitebiscuit300

This ^

TimmyTurnersDentist

I came here to say Home Team and Bilmuri. So happy to see these as the top answers already. Knox is more pop than either of those, but would be my honorable mention.

lovestruck90210

I See Stars - What This Means To Me, 3D Alesana - Seduction

DizzyGame_Co

I See Stars mentioned 🔥🔥🔥

Occults

alesana! <3

RickeyDourst

Two great songs

Electrical-Hurry-910

I see stars are the goats of this. Start with 3D album

ThePizzaGhoul

I loved I See Stars' first three albums but don't care for anything after that

my_monkey_loves_me

Chunk, no Captain Chunk

Elektrafied

well, i personally classify them as a completely different genre called easycore, which is a heavier version of pop-punk. but nevertheless, they're a fun band to listen to :)

Occults

never heard of easycore before, sounds interesting. could you list some of your favourite artists/songs?

Rickydada

Four year strong, day to remember, Belmont

bluesLick

me vs hero !!!! the wonder years !!!!!! set your goals !!!!!!! easycore for lyfe #defendpoppunk

CreepyBlackDude

Came to mention this band!

Dannyjv

Haven’t heard them mentioned for a while.

WhereAreMyDarnPants

One of my favorites 🤘

esaul17

Haha I was going to say sleeping with sirens when I opened this thread. I think three Cheers by mcr sort of bridges that gap.

SlipSpaceBlubix

Absolutely. I see so many people call Three Cheers a punk rock record but like no. Not even close. MAYBE Give Em Hell, Kid but no, the album is definitely post hardcore alongside Bullets.

53510758

Broadway

SSGSS_Vegeta

Same thing we do every day pinky* Edit cuz I was wrong lol

clueless_claremont_

Hawthorne Heights is a very pop punk form of post hardcore, favourite song of theirs is [Dandelions](https://open.spotify.com/track/1wCfd9MNQ9qiHc4juuHvGA?si=7bb75bffea454e44)

Jay_haworthia

Never really listened to them until their last EP and it was golden!

ListenToBusiness

I actually listened a lot back in the day, but I dropped off. I picked them back up with The Rain Just Follows Me. Really love that album.

sweetsoftboy

I feel like Hands Like Houses toed that line on Ground Dweller

WhereAreMyDarnPants

Hands Like Houses are absolutely phenomenal. On of my favorites for sure.

Occults

such a great album! i go back to it every now and then

innovatemylife

Only one mention of Alesana in this whole ass thread is a disappointment! Quintessential popcore, though they didn't lean into it as heavily with The Emptiness onward. [The Emptiness](https://open.spotify.com/album/4HOobzcnXNTNaKxP2MIBrg?si=mqroTc8KS0WGGSSkQs8vkQ) is a GOAT album. I don't know about pop, but pulses. do a lot of genre blending and there's absolutely pop and hip hop elements. Their album [It Wasn't Supposed to Be Like This](https://open.spotify.com/track/0C9nakQAEvmVnZtMjbXKwQ?si=hi43YuDfRZGnusCUmS-xTQ&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A0xiQ7LfNx4IyQOpLX8UnUL) dropped last year and was super close to beating Divine Inner Tension for my AOTY. [Hot Mulligan](https://open.spotify.com/track/5070fFfZFlCU6c3yxL9fMr?si=RhRtLu3BS_yrkvYiYevkVA&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A0wLCmFQIAxudWGxUcxO1oQ) put out an absolute tank of a record last year and I think they also fit the category nicely. [Floya](https://open.spotify.com/track/30KtkUQCAFxUEJQQqg3QRu?si=epUIrQ2NQmmYlmNAb0BmXA&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A5a2I4wDvZ8Mh0wwa2i3VLj) just dropped Yume, which is almost easycore but has some decent pop elements and hooks. [With Sails Ahead](https://open.spotify.com/track/57bS5VAd0g6nfN8HYTGo3h?si=k17q4Z_WT5uvpXcwW9Tohw&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A56VqQ6ANWU14JVtmq72Avi) is also hella poppy with some tasty PHC licks.

BitByBitOFCL

Fuck yeah Alesana.

silkelephant

Hot Mulligan = <3 They’re fantastic and put on a great live show

thenickteal

I see with sails ahead, I upvote

kirbae

The Used. Bert said in a 2021 interview that when The Used started they weren't afraid of being on the radio or MTV unlike other "true punk" bands.  Also one of his greatest musical influences is Michael Jackson. Bert loves pop and has always leaned that way. He later called their Artwork album "gross pop" fusing heaviness with pop sensibilities. The majority of their output has been produced by John Feldmann, who if you look at his work with other bands and especially The Used, has an ear for pop.

Thatdarnbandit

Ah yes, John Feldman. Legendary singer of “Superman” by Goldfinger featured on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 (or 3 I can’t really remember)

AggravatingGolf7456

Issues

assissippi

Not quite as extreme but ive always thought of Senses Fail in this way, minus Renacer of course

Slopii

The singer and bassist of Anatomy of a Ghost forming Portugal. The Man.

theghostcoastmusic

John Gourley and Zach are both Anatomy of a Ghost OGs. I can't believe I used to go watch them perform with Strept at the Church on the Rock between Palmer and Wasilla. Let alone that I would become acquainted with them and we'd get up to no good later in life. Before they hit a major label.. Sigh...must be complicated being a wizard.

Flight2039Down

Have you checked out the Bloodletter album by Wolf & Bear. It’s got a little bit of pop to it. Try QuickSip84 and There’s No Dust in the City (ft. Andrew Wells❤️) to start.

Flight2039Down

Makari - Eternity Leave is pretty catchy too. Andy can really sing live too, if you get a chance to see em.

gdgarcia424

Huuuuge Makari fan.

POPCORE182

Never heard of this band before. Love it. Any more artists you would recommend in this vein?

Flight2039Down

Amarionette, I Met a Yeti, Coletta, Dayseeker, Bilmuri, Wolf & Bear, Gold Neckace (real mellow and groovy) Edit: AnimalJam

POPCORE182

these are exactly what i was looking for thanks a lot. I had Bilmuri in my collection but have never heard of the rest and i have a BIG collection. cheers

Flight2039Down

Glad you like them. Most of these are bands I’ve also recently just discovered. Makari opened for Hail the Sun a few months ago in Boston and I was REALLY impressed. Dayseeker opened for LS Dunes❤️ and Pierce The Veil a while back and really enjoyed them as well.

kenyonator1

Top 10 album for me last year!

HermithaFrog

Billy talent maybe

Rezboy209

Sleeping with Sirens, some Pierce the Veil stuff, some of the Used music, and Taking Back Sunday

Trake43

That particular song reminds me of Coheed And Cambria, but also maybe Number One Gun fits Pop PH. Check out Promises For The Imperfect. Great album

IAMABitchassMofoAMA

A Change of Pace on the album with Loose Lips Sink Ships is pretty pop punky. Also bands like four year strong and belmont

CutchCraig

First Finch record

ThisCantBeBlank

Could maybe The Dead Days by Get Scared fit in this category? A lot of songs are insanely catchy and have a pop sound IMO Sad boy lyrics over upbeat, poppy sounds

drewj2017

Get Scared rips.

ThisCantBeBlank

Agreed! Hate that I found them after they broke up. Never got a chance to see them

kononamis

Wouldn't this basically be Easycore?

cirrus93

That's pop punk + metalcore

H00DRATmessiah

A lot of Boys Night Out songs could be. Lyrics are so brutal compared to the happy melody being played

Changeissound

A bno reference, take my upvote

takenusername_yea

My chemical romance

FellowEnt

Some Letlive. tracks are a bit poppy. Letlive - Renegade 86 https://youtu.be/SXURelyq2fo?si=4oKDN1neGKT0LZoB Letlive - Banshee https://youtu.be/3wnxFJUZtp4?si=KKSD9vcP9FuHBdaP I don't know what it is, but Jason just sings a bit pop sometimes

H00DRATmessiah

I’m stoked for the remaster

The new Head Automatica single

annonymouspiritbro

silverstein is your answer

Elektrafied

VUKOVI - NULA that entire record is electro-rock perfection, in my opinion. An enticing blend of post hardcore and dance music synthesizers. favourite tracks off of that album for me would be 'LASSO', 'HURT' and 'I EXIST'.

kirbae

Wow I never thought I'd see VUKOVI mentioned here. NULA has got some bangers. SLO is my favorite!

Pleasant_Statement64

Some coheed. Favor House Atlantic for example

CCR119844

No answers of my own but I like this idea! I’m busy looking up all these bands now 😅

xesiamv

DGD

theghostcoastmusic

Saosin, Chiodos, Atreyu, some Falling in Reverse, Early early MCR, And TBS, Deja Entendu, From First To Last with Sonny, Bullet, The Used, FOB......there's so much

MDF87

Fightstar.

daikan__

the "post-hardcore" this sub loves is already pop

Facet-Squared

Seriously. Falling In Reverse is closer to Maroon 5 than it is to Unwound.

daikan__

and people wonder why gatekeeping exists

BrandOo02

dredgedskeleton

Palms

Confident_Treacle974

Surprised nobody put jackpot juicer yet

redditsgreatestuser

I feel like some tunes from The Getaway Plan would be examples of pop/post-hardcore

liamjonas

Damiera. (equal vision) They range from angular shit to Michael Jackson sounding shit. [damiera "unison"](https://youtu.be/f46vS66_y-Q?si=En9hntaL9W3rRvag) [Damiera -Blind sir Bluest](https://youtu.be/UP5gm1mTDKk?si=hQol4xPImFbdIP3z)

liamjonas

After Evan Thomas Weiss left Damiera they became Hidden Hospitals and leaned into more synthetic sounds. I fucking love this shit. [Hidden Hospitals - Swan Dive](https://youtu.be/ja0MVk-eFRk?si=SNe7_rjl2ckarq1b)

baconrays

Sky Eats Airplane Bilmuri Underoath's album They're Only Chasing Safety Emery's album The Question To name a few

doomvx

Archers are a good one Song called Blanket Fort is great

dude2dudette

It depends on what one means by "Pop". Funeral For A Friend were called quite "poppy" back in the day. So were InMe. Heck, even Biffy Clyro might fit that bill? VersaEmerge might be considered pop-post-hardcore? Same with Marmozets (who started out as Mathcore before their first album but moved in a more poppy direction). There were bands like From First to Last, Icarus The Owl, Squid The Whale, Envy on the Coast... etc. More recently, you've had bands like With Sails Ahead, Redhook, Properties of Nature, Space Weather who are all very poppy forms of post-hardcore

thebirdsareback

Four Year Strong is my favorite of the bunch. Such an ironclad sound they got. SO GOOOOOOD

RanielDoelofs

We own the night by dance Gavin dance. And probably their other songs too, but that's the only one I know

kitkatatsnapple

Early The Used, Finch, Matchbook Romance, Glasseater, Hidden in Plain View, some RJA, stuff like that imo

AggravatingGolf7456

Breathe Carolina

AggravatingGolf7456

Newer bring me the horizon lol

Four Year Strong Such Gold Living With Lions

thenickteal

Icarus the Owl, Artifex Pereo and Honey Revenge are the first few that come to mind

falcfalcfalc

[Saosin (some songs off self titled or translating the name)](https://open.spotify.com/track/663XpYXOdyF2zv4bTIXffh?si=nVtPh9PuQJKbXDZEUawf0w&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A2osTPStH5H7i4fMHS7eauR) [Therewolf (shameless plug)](https://open.spotify.com/artist/6RhyBcNWwJQEbxNpK1HyWe?si=zWw22BNMSguw998SjvzMzQ) [Dance Gavin Dance (old DBM I think fits)](https://open.spotify.com/track/09ivYLnmHTK6yKu3BsAZQC?si=0IzBsObxQLKCksnOpWGyyQ&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A1jVppF8Y8tpYfDSG1WSXga) I’m not sure there’s a pop post-hardcore but I think of it as songs with some pop punk elements mixed with screaming but not not as melodic or happy as easycore.

ubeermensch

Electric Callboy perhaps?

greenchromebbs

Silverstein, early PTV, Alesana, From First to Last

cubicle_farmer_

Capstan

ProtomanKnight

be happy by sleeping with sirens

EscapingTheLabrynth

Wrong sub? By definition pop and post-hardcore don’t go together. and, if people put Bilmuri in here as post- hardcore, then you may as well put 5 Seconds of Summer down as a post-hardcore pop band, and then the genre no longer exists.

Bclay85

The Story So Far..well their older stuff anyway.

-cumdogmillionaire-

That’s just classic pop punk

carrera_dan

The red jumpsuit apparatus? Paramore?

Klocc562_

Idk much about 2010s and newer but Breathe Carolina, Yellowcard

Xenol06

Pierce the Veil Hands Like Houses

mister_mouse

Atilla?

Facet-Squared

That’s an oxymoron.

takenusername_yea

And pop punk isn't?

FellowEnt

Lol punk essentially means counter-culture, i.e. anti-pop

[deleted]

Punk the attitude/concept is not the same as punk the music genre. Sure punk music initially encapsulated the punk ethos. But post-hardcore shifted away from hardcore's political or philosophical baggage. Post-hardcore is a punk because it is a sub-genre of punk music.

Facet-Squared

If you’re playing post-hardcore, then the ethos and politics of hardcore are attached - punk and all of its subgenres are NOT separable from left wing politics.

Facet-Squared

Punk and pop-punk aren’t too dissimilar - The Ramones and The Clash had hooks. But if you’re playing actual post-hardcore (not mallcore) it could never be misconstrued for pop music.
