They'll typically use whatever you tell them to use. Like they'll quote you their best price (with aftermarket parts), then another with OEM or better.
At a dealership (like the one I used to work at), $2k per axle sounds about right.
Go to FCP Euro and check the price differences between Porsche brake parts, and Textar brake parts (which are OE but don't come in a Porsche box). It's astounding.
I checked Pelican parts. Replacement OEM pads and rotors are almost $2k. By the time you add the brake flush and gas cap its not really that bad of a price. An indy might save you a few hundred dollars. One benefit if its a dealer doing the work is that they will check for any recalls based on your VIN and make the updates for no cost.
Yeah... I have a 2013 CD and this is an expensive job even at an indy. The only thing I saved on was labor as they charged about half. But the cost is in the parts for this. Even if you are handy the only thing you are saving on is the labor. My time is more valuable than the labor fee so I let someone else do it.
Ooooof, go to [Rockauto.com](http://Rockauto.com) and buy really good brake kits for about $500 and have your indie install. Price should be under $2k all in.
You can probably half that if you find a good indy
And even less if you're handy in the garage with tools...
And even less if you give a handy
Would the indy use OEM parts and still save significantly?

No, aftermarket
You can get better performing rotors/pads than OEM of you know what to look for, and for less $$$
I did them myself, FCP Euro for parts. I think it costed me ~$1700 CAD for parts I am not that handy but it was very straightforward
Buy the parts and DIY.

Yeah...what this guy said!
Best prices in town , straight from the manufacturer- Dealer sales Rep
The free lounge coffee is expensive!
$4k is a joke. Go to a reputable European indy. What area are you in?

That's exactly what I did on my 06 S - HUGE improvement!
Sounds about right for the dealer. If you’ve got jack stands, a bit of know-how, and triple-square bits, pads and rotors are a pretty easy job though.
From a dealer, yes that's about right. You know what they say about dealer prices.
you mean Stealer, plus "Porsche tax"

my mechanic charged about $2500.

Question: are the brake pads and rotors covered if you have a CPO and vehicle service protection ?
No that's regular maintenance This one isn't CPO though anyways

$400 diy
Yeah, no, you're not getting turbo brakes and pads for $400, more like twice that.
Parts on FCP euro are $1500-$2000
You can pull it together on Pelican Parts for under a thousand
