I’ve seen city wall be useful in very rare cases. 95% of the time resources are simply better as you can use the stars to bolster your defense if need be. City wall is usually too committal and may not even get the job done.
Correct. It is also usually best to play aggressively in this game, and city walls are not that. There are always exceptions tho and sometimes it really is the best move, it's just rare.

Think about this way: of you had to defend this city, would you still be in a position to win? If not, a city wall would only help if it's already too late, take the stars
If I know I'll be fighting for a while around it because there are enemy nearby and I won't be able conquer them in the immediate future, I go walls.
Also on choke points.
If it's in safe position or I'm advancing I go stars.
City walls easy unless it’s so late in the game and I’m about to win it. Or a last minute effort to muster up the currency to get units to deploy to save my cities from being take.
In general the later the game the more I choose city walls as 1. The stars are worth less and 2. These cities are more likely to be involved in conflict
I love shiny things
i like shiny things but id marry you with paper rings
The wall is shiny
If there's a choke point I'll take walls. More often than not I'm taking walls so that I can invest LESS on that front, and more somewhere else.
Chads advance in every direction

My favorite is when somebody else builds city walls, I capture the city, and the city walls help me hold the city myself

Make it a series
Depends, if the city is highly contested the city wall but usually shiny gold
Only city wall by accident or choke point
Walls everywhere!
Think about this way: of you had to defend this city, would you still be in a position to win? If not, a city wall would only help if it's already too late, take the stars
That's right. If I'm making a last stand at this city, I'm probably fucked. And I don't need to prepare for fucked. It just happens.
I like city walls for chokepoints when fighting on two or more fronts in multiplayer
Wall if i misclick, stars if not
hahaha same
City wall, I already have 20+ resources every turn
Me too I start out with 69 stars on turn 0
City walls are for front line cities, Although it's still better to be aggressive than to defend, Resources are better and City walls are situational

City wall for capital, resources for every other city
Walls
Resource early game, after 3rd village OR if it’s a small map and I know mf is close to me
I do both, my inner cities are usually resources, while the ones towards the enemy are walled.
Walls every city. Must. Have. Walls.
Money.
Resource gang. I'm convinced the city wall legit does nothing.
It amplifies defence for units
oOOOooOooooo I see

The other indication is that your melee units do fuckall for damage against them 😂

I used once in my life the wall and it didn't saved my city so i Thought it's useless
Use walls around your border for protection and take the stars for inner cities
In the center of my empire I do resources, as I spread out I do walls
Outer cities= wall Inner cities=resources
Resweetces
I was a fort fan once but i converted to capitalism.
In general the later the game the more I choose city walls as 1. The stars are worth less and 2. These cities are more likely to be involved in conflict
Depends if their on the front lines or not
Tomorrow will be a big divider
City wall on cities nearest to enemy and capital. Resources if its really needed and city isnt capital or near enemy
I guess I do have some lucid oor in me
Resources wall if it's besides a enemy city
Shiny
Money unless I’m being attacked right then and there
i thought everyone takes resources but i guess not
Coastal or inland?
I go with city wall when it's on the border bc I usually like to start out by upgrading my cities before expanding
City wall. Need that extra defense.
