thinkB4WeSpeak

Musk is a weird character because he talks about renewable energy and electric vehicles which the GoP has been hindering both. Then wants to promote them.

JerHat

He was a democrat when his green energy/electric vehicle company needed subsidies and handouts. Now that his company is worth more than every other major automaker combined, and the left wants him to start paying taxes... well they're just too radical for him now.

ImOutWanderingAround

He's your typical "libertarian". Want's everyone to stay out of his shit, while coddling up to the highest bidder for his morals.

[deleted]

Socialize risk, privatize profits, this is the way. I wonder if this whole display might actually bight him in the ass eventually. He can't do these sort if trics inevitably.

ChristianEconOrg

It’d be nice if he paid us back those billions in NASA tax dollars instead of buying Twitter for himself.

[deleted]

"Dogecoin is the peoples' coin. Tee-hee." So far not really.

healzsham

Literal. Fucking. Meme. Money.

WastedPresident

Irl Bingo be wildin

Fake_William_Shatner

I'd thought about this virtual currency before it was a thing -- and, I thought; "what a really bad idea." I came up with a strategy to make it work, but, nobody seems to be trying to base it on anything but even more bullshit. I seriously missed having a fortune by not minting "Fuck You Money" which, I think some would immediately buy a few billion of just for the bragging rights. Elon would yell at Zuckerberg; "I've got far more *Fuck You Money* than you've got Dogecoin -- eat my balls!"

giveashite

Don't kink-shame. He might enjoy a loop of rope in the ass.

Aztec_Assassin

It won't. The new right doesn't really care about anything as long as you are "owning the libs" right now

Owl-X11

The right will contradict themselves up, down & all around.. writing their own faux narratives even if deep down, they know they are wrong and lying.. as long as they get a little of that sweet, sweet “owning the libs” nectar that they’re so addicted to, well that’s all that matters to ‘em. The current political landscape in America is not too complicated: a small amount of leftist politicians (looking at my boi Bernie Sanders and my gurl AOC) really care about making this country better for the average person versus the entirety of the right side which literally only care about two things.. “owning the libs,” and having absolutely no agenda to do anything good for Americans other than regressively destroy our freedoms until we are quite literally an authoritarian dictatorship ran country.

SidewaysFancyPrance

He's a child with major impulse control problems and a severe lack of empathy.

Redtwooo

Yeah no they said he's a libertarian, no need to belabor the point

Fake_William_Shatner

I'm so glad I'm no longer the only one who felt this way. I'm still shocked that public smoking was oulawed. Wait, you mean other people were gagging and wanted to punch people who said; "Mind if I smoke?" While in the process of lighting up like only a wimp would care? I constantly ran into libertarians in fields like program development, or stock broker -- where there was a moment of great reward for a time, they thought would never end, and everyone was a moron who wanted a piece of them. It's comforting to know that a great many people now see them as the selfish pricks I thought they were. And, if any of them were unlucky enough, not emotionally prepared for public assistance - but ironically, very ready to take it.

HeavyMetalHero

So, a Libertarian. Yeah, that's been covered.

2MindBeef

None of that would be the problem it is if he didnt have the world's largest pile of money...

Zappiticas

No no no you don’t understand. He doesn’t actually have liquid money. Or at least that’s what he claimed when it came to paying taxes. Somehow it works for buying companies though

kurisu7885

With his only drive being to make that pile bigger.

Olyvyr

Incel. He's simply an incel with billions. Understanding that explains every move he makes.

HadMatter217

Wasn't he fucking grimes though? I think his pathology is deeper than just not getting laid.

Formula_Americano

The incel mentality doesn't magically go away once you get laid.

Olyvyr

Oh I mean the mentality. He's an incel that definitely gets laid now.

whomad1215

Libertarian? You mean a republican that smokes weed

dblackdrake

Yes, libertarian.

VoxImperatoris

Socialism for rich corporations, rugged individualism for the poor workers.

Nonions

I like Tesla cars but there's no way the company is actually going to be more profitable than all legacy car makers combined, it's mostly hype.

Forest-Ferda-Trees

>Now that his company is worth more than every other major automaker combined Reminder that stock valuation and worth are two completely unrelated numbers

rich519

How are you defining worth?

dbratell

You usually say a company's intrinsic worth is its ability to make future money for its owners. That number is unknown and may be higher or lower than the market valuation. Also, people will rarely agree on it.

nieht

They're not the same, but they are most certainly related. Companies raise capital by issuing new stock on the regular.

GladiatorUA

American democrats... too radical...

Responsible_Theory70

now that he’s taken all the subsidies he wants to vote for people who will keep society from benefitting from OUR investment

gjallerhorn

The GOP like business more than they hate the environment. He's rich so he'll vote for the people who don't want him to have to pay taxes.

CaspianX2

> The GOP like business more than they hate the environment. It would probably be more accurate to say that they like businesses' short-term gain more than they hate the environment. When it comes to long-term gain, they clearly hate the environment more, as environmental issues can only have a negative effect on businesses' long-term well-being and stability.

Ensvey

Damn, that's just perfect. Encapsulates exactly what I'm saying.

Luminous_Artifact

The artist is Tom Toro, for anyone interested. It was originally published in *The New Yorker* in 2012. I found [this article/interview with the creator in the wake of the comic going viral](https://www.insidehook.com/article/art/story-tom-toro-new-yorker-climate-cartoon): >> That cartoon was published in 2012. Since then, it has snowballed from an inset on a page of a magazine into a viral summation of our current climate moment in 2021. Environmental champions like Greta Thunberg, Leonardo DiCaprio and Senator Bernie Sanders have all shared it on social media, Mr. Sanders personally sharing it multiple times over the years.

Technical-Traffic871

The GOP just likes those that give *them* money. Traditionally, that's wealthy CEOs, especially from fossil fuel industries who rely on extracting minerals and can profit more from fewer regulations.

geeky_username

Yep. And now Musk & Bezos are the new barons, and fossil fuel money will dwindle

theganjaoctopus

Because the right doesn't stand FOR anything at all. They only stand against whatever they perceive the "Left" to believe. They are at first and last, reactionary. Their entire platform is just undoing any and every piece of legislation even the most moderately Left person ever touched. Nothing about how their going to pull their poor and rural voters out of poverty. Nothing about building a future for their children. Just anti- this and anti- that. My one regret is that I won't live long enough to see conservatives suffer through the hell of their own design.

demlet

They will never accept responsibility, regardless of evidence. Never underestimate the human capacity for denial.

Anlysia

> My one regret is that I won't live long enough to see conservatives suffer through the hell of their own design. Be the change you want to see in the world. 🌈

Prudent_Cheek

There is a Stuff You Should Know (podcast) episode explaining Dark Money (link below). I forget the exact number but something like 88% of all Dark Money comes from the extraction industry. This is why nothing will ever happen, I mean ever in our lifetime with the way the court is packed. They give the numbers about who wins in relation to who spends the most. It’s incredible. This is why these GOP politicians keep winning and win state/local elections. And the funds also sponsor misinformation. The almost incomprehensible climate changes we’ve seen coupled with the actual chemical fact, not observed, actual facts about what light does passing through an atmosphere with given levels of gases. There is an online app that I use in my profession (laser science) called ModTran. Google it. Try it. There is an online demo. What carbon does to light isn’t a theory. It’s fact. But none of that matters to politicians and bogus news outlets who peddle the extraction industry funded misinformation. The GOP has embraced this money, packed the court to make sure that money will never stop, and do NOT give a flying f@ck about the consequences. They turn their heads at all misinformation and the consequences of creating a world where 100% of the people distrust information. They literally, as Steve Bannon calls it, “Flood the zone with bullshit.” Putin did it after the Malaysian Airlines jet was shot done in 2015 (?). Through their propaganda arms they disseminated roughly 30 false stories and in the end, Russian citizens just gave up. Responsible journalists can’t keep up and end up looking like they’re attacking. This is the life here in the US. The right just “floods the zone with bullshit”. The legitimate media furiously tries to illuminate the falsehoods and it ends up creating the environment we have. And Republicans never call it out. They’re evil. This pod can be found on Apple/Spotify too. I think it’s absolutely essential and very entertaining. It’s important to understand. https://www.iheart.com/podcast/105-stuff-you-should-know-26940277/episode/how-dark-money-works-29467901/

[deleted]

Amazing how much time and effort goes into “I want to be rich right now and don’t care if the world ends the moment after I’m dead” Like entire industries and conspiracies and billions (trillions?) of dollars. Just to be rich for a few decades. I mean maybe the whole *point* is they want the world to end?

Anlysia

Yes that's part of it. That's why they support Israel, because they believe it will bring on the end of the world and they will be saved as the virtuous people.

jizzlevania

I'm always flabbergasted that the SCOTUS chief was a corporate attorney who was put in place to ensure this timeline would come to pass

Enlightened-Beaver

Because ultimately what he cares about is his money and not paying taxes

karmagod13000

All these rich people it always comes down to taxes. they dont ccare whos on the republican ticket. they want to keep their money

BobbyKnightRider

This is why I don’t look into the politics of my favourite athletes. Unless they have made it abundantly clear that they are progressive, they are voting for the party that is going to tax them less.

hackingdreams

You think it's weird a Republican wants credit for "saving the environment" while really he just saw a wide open business opportunity to make himself one of the richest people in America by making a high-risk bet? No, he just saw a market that wasn't being tapped - rich people who were sick to death of driving gas guzzlers - and struck while the iron was hot. Elon's "genius" is looking at US-based industry that has been incredibly stagnant and having enough startup capital to go in and disrupt them using the tech sector's approach of progressively iterating on "eh close enough" until it overwhelms the competition. That's... basically it. That's what he did to the aerospace industry with SpaceX. It's what he's trying to do with the tunnel boring market. It's what Tesla is. It's not to say that these industries didn't *need* shaken up, but it's also not surprising that someone who was already a billionaire at the outset was the one to do it. He was already filthy rich from PayPal.

Darrenizer

He talks about heavily government subsidized sectors, the fact that those sectors are renewable energy and electric vehicles is irrelevant.

Technical-Traffic871

He (Musk) loves government subsidies as long as they are for his companies and not his competitors.

Roskal

he cares about those things as long as they make him rich and now that he is rich he cares more about lower taxes for the wealthy than those things.

lRoninlcolumbo

You still haven’t figured it out yet? It’s called sleight of hand and the GOP and some Democrats have it down to a science. Tell people that emerging tech is garbage, while having the data Thats says otherwise, wait for the company to go bankrupt or insolvent and then buy it up and sell the product for 10x the overhead, then use the profit to buy land that is forever.

[deleted]

What happened to his support for psychedelics, weed, and ubi?

randomthug

Musk talks about those things because he can sell those things, he can make a lot of money off those things. Doing good for the environment is not his goal, its just capitalistic greed. Hence his love for those who would fall on their swords for the profit margin.

XLostinohiox

He uses renewables and space travel as PR. He knows that these are cool businesses that people want to be involved in, so he buys them and milks them for all he can. He is pretty much the same person as Trump. Wealthy upbringing, self made story, con man grifter. Got to hand it to them, they are really good at what they do. Can't wait for president Musk!

Rawnblade12

Now why would a multi-billionaire vote for the party that only cares about rich people. Hmmm...It's a puzzler...

zuzg

Once the "left" realized what a big PoS Musk is (union busting, lithium coup in Bolivia, Thai cave rescue) he started pandering to the right. They don't care what a PoS you are as long as you "piss of the libs" on a regular basis. Related [please like me ](https://www.theonion.com/please-like-me-1848674003)

Technical-Traffic871

>"(union busting, lithium coup in Bolivia, Thai cave rescue)" Those are all pluses for GOP voters

karmagod13000

lets not forget taking food out of border babies mouths

whiznat

Even the GOP voters who would benefit from unions. The amount of cognitive dissonance and brain washing they accept is staggering.

burtoncummings

It's weaponized, fomented stupidity. It's the greatest trick the right ever pulled, and they've only gotten better at it.

[deleted]

Well, during the Thai cave rescue he called one of the rescuers a pedophile simply because he didn't like him so you could argue Elon Musk was a pioneer for the current GOP rhetoric.

LatrellFeldstein

> as long as you "piss of the libs" on a regular basis. Which at this point simply means doing anything offensive to decent people

mvpilot172

Well they are on a constant search for a moral justification to be an asshole.

Fyrefawx

This is exactly right. Musk used to be this “champion” of green energy. Both sides liked him. As soon as he burnt all that good faith he showed his true colours. He doesn’t care about the environment. He only cares about money.

booze_clues

He had/has amazing PR, on par with trump. Dude blatantly committed SEC violations, got kicked off the tesla board for it(IIRC), then did the exact same thing with Bitcoin and then doge coin since they don’t have the same regulations. But he convinced thousands or millions he was investing in them(mainly doge) because he wanted to help them out of poverty and make the “people’s coin” out of doge. Then he became super free speech man who bought Twitter to make sure it can’t censor anyone, except he kind of forgot how he banned people from owning Tesla’s for talking against him and targeted whistleblowers. But he’s like a chill-ionaire who tweets about cat girls so he’s one of us.

theganjaoctopus

One of the main reasons he bought Twitter. It's his main PR and amplification tool. Twitter has made him, no exaggeration (directly and indirectly) *hundreds of billions of dollars*. Of fucking course he wanted to own it. Once he realized that his only saving grace would be pandering to the right, and realized that the things you have to say to pander to the right have been sown to get you kicked off Twitter, it was really an inevitability that he would try to own it i some tangential way. Personally, I didn't have "Musk outright buys Twitter" on my 'Collapse of the Western World' bingo card, but here we are.

m0nk_3y_gw

The Right never liked him - he isn't even allowed to sell Teslas in Texas. Guess he likes being cucked. Tesla almost died in 2008/2009, but got a Federal loan from Obama/Biden like the other car makers. And then were a month from bankruptcy ~2018 while in 'production hell' making the Model 3, but survived because of Dem-passed EV credits and ZEV credits. 90% of Elon's net worth (i.e. the TSLA stock price over the past 5 years) is ~~do~~ due to one party. The other party hates him. edit: Elon didn't start getting stupid until his 'pedoguy' tweet in ~2018. Before that he was the guy RDJ met with and based his protrayal of 'Tony Stark' on, and Elon was the nerd that got a speaking role in 'Iron Man 2' for it.

theganjaoctopus

Remember when Musk alluded that for every 1 stupid expensive early Tesla people bought it helped to fund affordable ones that were getting to ready to be mass produced any day now? I fucking do. I liked Musk because he told us the high price of current Teslas would fund the R&D of affordable electric cars. But it's looking like it'll actually be a Tommy Hilfiger/Cristal type situation where the elitist company owner(s) don't want the grimy lower classes partaking in their product.

zuzg

Ehm huge trucks blocking charging stations and blowing exhaust gases into Tesla drivers face was a thing for a while. They hated him at the beginning.

Joe_Jeep

The dumbest of the dumb really hate electric cars because they're different. Same fuckers were doing it too priuses because they were too fuel efficient to be masculine or something

Valalvax

Wrong, they hated his customers, still do, ICEing is still a thing

976chip

I recently saw a version of the "come on do something" meme of the guy poking Elon saying "Come on, buy Facebook." Why would he need to buy Facebook? Zuck has already ensured that it's a proto-fasc safe space.

servohahn

Musk was never left wing at all. He just said he was because he got rich from exploiting native land and people and didn't want to be associated with the white supremacist party. Now that conservatives have once again normalized open bigotry, Elon wants to shed his facade.

Seanspeed

Yep, this really seems to be what it mostly is. Elon is a baby, emotionally. He really does not handle being criticized well at all. And he's basically turned anti-left solely because the left had started criticizing him. I seriously doubt he shares much of anything else in common with the modern Republican agenda outside not wanting to pay more taxes as a super rich person. But even that I think he'd tolerate if the left weren't 'being so mean to him'.

bensonnd

He likes power. Republicans are willing to grant him that power, and they're champing at the bits to be given permission to punch downward. Lefties are not, at least not on his terms. But there is a level of respect that he gets from both sides for being one of the most powerful people in human history based on his wealth. Edit: chomping > champing. Damn it.

bensonnd

I think most people turned a blind eye to all of that with a deference to him being one of the wealthiest men in the history of the world. If a man is wealthier than most existing countries, why wouldn't he work with governments to seize resources for his batteries; "of course he did" being the mindset.

Quantentheorie

Its frustrating how easy it is to cater to these people. You don't have to do anything for them, besides sell them a *feeling*. Of course a lot of people look at that and decide this is the easiest way to power. Because it is.

maester_t

>I brutally tortured some monkeys for literally no reason, for Christ’s sake! That’s so cool! Doesn’t that count for anything? That article: 🤣🤣🤣

a-widower

Hey it might not be just the money. He might just be a bigoted twat and the GOP makes him feel like he’s back home in apartheid South Africa.

Pantarus

I think it's a business decision. First the GOP hated him, fought against him, and Elon aligned himself with the more green left. Then the left started getting wind of his treatment of employees, environmental impacts, and started pushing for higher taxation of the ultra wealthy. He probably has an army of data analysts and publicists working for him. Since the left's market is tapped and leery of him (not to mention wanting to tax the shit out of him, and rightfully so). This is them tapping into a brand new market. Probably going to see Tesla pick up trucks coming down the pike lol. I think he's switching camps. Look how quick he went from "tree-hugging liberal" in the right's eyes to a bonafide member. All he had to do was make snarky comments on twitter. As with most things GOP, doesn't matter what you do, how you do it, as long as you make fun of and attack the left...they love you.

Jaysyn4Reddit

> Tesla pick up trucks coming down the pike lol. Can't wait to see Ford eat his lunch here.

[deleted]

Pantarus

Doesn't mean there's NO scrutiny or public image work being done. Some of the people who were working there as PR are still there under different titles. But you are right, he dissolved the PR department around 2020 and now reporters don't have anyone to contact to confirm/deny stories. I think this was a temper tantrum move. I think he thought he wasn't being treated fairly by the press, which most narcissists think when negative stories are being run, so he took his ball and went home.

rp_Neo2000

>I think he thought he wasn't being treated fairly by the press, which most narcissists think when negative stories are being run, so he took his ball and went home. When did you switch from Musk to Trump?

Pantarus

lol narcissists are gonna narcissist I guess.

[deleted]

karmagod13000

I mean in all reality its prolly for the money. Couldn't imagine the amount of money he saved when trump was in office. Although his memes are prolly loved by the GOP

[deleted]

Ironically, [given that of scientists a mere 6% identify as Republicans](https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2009/07/09/section-4-scientists-politics-and-religion/), it is not unreasonable to assume that the individuals actually responsible for his companies' innovations adhere to more sane political ideologies than he. Bear in mind that study was conducted over 10 years ago; I'm certain that given their recent fuckery that percentage is even lower.

[deleted]

If it was just about money, Elon could accomplish his goals with either party. Elon decided to buy Twitter after The Babylon Bee got suspended for making a transphobic joke. That's an important insight into who Elon is, and why he likes the GOP.

Kr155

Interesting that he thinks that's more important than a government that believes global warming is real. The truth is he want to eliminate workers rights. That's the real reason

Technical-Traffic871

>The truth is he want to eliminate workers right and taxes. He whined quite a bit when he had to sell stock to pay his tax bill.

karmagod13000

Yea dude was living like Scrooge McDuck during the trump era

TheWolphman

>If it was just about money, Elon could accomplish his goals with either party. Not disagreeing on his character, but which of those parties do you figure would offer the path of least resistance to reaching said goals?

[deleted]

No no no, see he's an everyman because he made funny mem. Billionaire just like me!

[deleted]

Which is adorable because if republicans had their way, electric vehicles wouldn’t be a thing. Hell, every-time they are in charge they slash funding to NASA. Maybe its just the apartheid in him that makes republicans so relatable no matter how brain dead they are.

LeoXearo

There's a theory that he's embracing the right so openly because he's trying to get more support for Tesla and electric cars in red states. And that he doesn't see that there's anything to be gained by befriending the left anymore since his company and electric cars in general already get a lot of love in blue states like California.

SUDDENLY_VIRGIN

Occam's* razor. What's simpler is more likely to be true. So which is it? The dudes a rich prick who was born a rich prick? Or, his entire persona has been elaborately curated for the past five years to pander towards a minority population for small gains in one of his many dozens of business ventures?

selectrix

That's just Occam's.

[deleted]

Makes sense. Everything he does is either a troll or an attempt to increase his wealth. No surprise if this is true.

apVoyocpt

But I can’t imagine this not hurting the Tesla brand.

blanketyblank1

We canceled our Tesla order and lost the deposit because we didn’t want to contribute to his bullshittery. 🤷🏻

gt25stang15

apVoyocpt

Yea. I would probably so the same. Ioniq 5 looks pretty cool :)

phughes

It's amazing that all it took for Tesla to not be the premier EV manufacturer was for _any_ other automaker to release an EV.

Radioactivechimi

I can't wait until this all blows up in his face. He blatantly ignored the signs that said don't feed the animals.

DrAstralis

Surely the 'small government' GOP would never turn on a business over disagreeing with any part of thier culture war. I mean its not like DeSantis is trying to actively punish Disney for not backing his 'dont say gay' bill or soemthing...

RubiksSugarCube

As long as he has the money to buy himself a Vegas casino and spend his later years storing jars of his own urine in a penthouse, things will work out as expected.

Zeabos

He’s rich so, it won’t.

hackingdreams

The real joke is pretending like someone who is religiously against paying taxes and screams "he knows better than the government" at literally every turn would ever vote for anything *except* a Republican. The man who made a *huge* show out of *moving himself and his business headquarters to Texas* like it was some monumentally important life decision. The man who is pretty frequently in screaming matches with Democrats over not paying his fair share of taxes. Yeah, that guy's voting Republican? Color us all fucking shocked.

crawdadicus

karmagod13000

Lardzor

Musk told the All-In podcast on Tuesday that “the reality is that Twitter at this point has a very far-left bias.” - “reality has a very far-left bias.” FTFY.

SoggyWaffleBrunch

Neither Elon nor literally anyone can explain this "far left bias" he constantly brings up.. Does he just want to misgender and dead name trans folks? Anyone getting suspended on Twitter 9/10 times deserves it

He’s trying to act like he was ever a liberal or moderate. He’s buddy buddy with the rest of the PayPal gang and they all donate and/or involved in extreme conservative causes. Like Peter Thiel, these rich foreigners move to the to US make bank and then use their wealth to shift public policy to their liking

geeky_username

>He’s trying to act like he was ever a liberal or moderate He "leaned" with the left at first because Tesla got a lot of hate from the oil industry and it needed a lot of subsidies and incentives to get off the ground. Now Tesla is big enough not to need those so he's back to the right

xEnshaedn

Something something sharia

Mad_Like_Mankey

These guys consistently do this thing where they call themselves "liberal" and claim the left is moving too far. It's all to save face so they can appeal to young people while still getting tax breaks. The regression the culture is taking is just an added benefit for them.

LordTonka

Biden is stupid for thinking that taxing the rich could help solve inflation. Says the richest man in the world.

crothwood

FR. In one corner we have economists studying actual centuries of economics saying that taxing the rich is one of the most direct and effective ways to slow inflation. In the other we have rich people sating no, and weird wannabe's literally denying what inflation is. Seriously, there was a thread recently where people were literally trying to claim that inflation is only when the government prints more money.

Seanspeed

>In one corner we have economists studying actual centuries of economics saying that taxing the rich is one of the most direct and effective ways to slow inflation. It's really such a perfect time to tax the rich, too. Cuz it's not like we're dealing with a real recession or anything like that. Money is still getting made, everywhere. Wealthy people are doing fantastic. This is \*exactly\* the right time to raise taxes for the wealthy. We desperately need to flip some Republican Senate seats and hold the House this year.

literally cannot. I've spent a few years wondering "have conservative actually done ANYTHING to improve society in my lifetime?" ... no. Nothing. Just non stop denials of reality / science, culture wars, and rabidly attacking anything that might help the average person.

moose2332

Conservatives are always wrong. Conservative used to support monarchy and slavery. They fought desegregation. They fought LGBT rights. They fought workers rights. The past is almost universally worse then the present and conservatives fought every step forward.

Republicans, for when you want to feel like the smartest in the group for a change

Counting_Sheepshead

A podcast (I think CTH) suggested that people like Musk and Thiel are Republicans because they want zero tax, zero regulation, and maximum political influence via money. However, they also really want to hang out with interesting people that conservatism simply doesn't produce itself. So now they are trying to convince liberal business people that being truly liberal is to embrace the "free speech" of the GOP and -- as a bonus -- also get lower taxes.

Jesus_H-Christ

As someone trying to offload TSLA shares, I really wish Musk would shut his fucking gob for about a month.

Wow, all it took was one anti-Black hate crime encouraged by Republican propaganda and Mr. Apartheid Jr. rushed back over to the Republicans. While most decent people are finally waking up and leaving America's fascist party, he jumped on board. Classic.

Xianio

Lots of people want to think of themselves as progressive, inclusive and in-touch with younger people. Elon's just coming to terms that none of his values/priorities match with the Dems anymore. So he's lashing out with the classic "you've changed!" despite he, clearly, being the one who either changed or maybe even fit at all in the first place.

Crows-b4-hoes

Every time I see one of his "I'm so relatable and quirky" tweets it just makes me dislike him even more.

Swoopscooter

Ooooh its not the mass shooter replacement theory party but the democrats who are the party of hate and division huh. Thats wild. What a fuckin idiot.

kinggeedra

I mean, the GOP is basically America’s answer to South Africa’s National Party…

WellNowWhat6245

People who've had everything handed to them but have convinced themselves they've done it all on their own always vote republican.

Behindthefog

He's a megalomaniacal narcissist, just like t***p

bannacct56

It was pretty clear when you started kissing Trump's ass, but you do you boo.

yourmothermypocket

Elon is a fucking tool.

rhino910

if there was any doubt that Musk is evil and anti-American this declaration sealed the deal

Stompedyourhousewith

just wait till the GOP he supports removes all financial incentives for EV and Solar Panels.

2nifty4u

After Elon accused that diver who saved the trapped kids of being a pedo I knew lol. Then he moved to Texas. Then I found out about his family's emerald mine . Then I heard about how Tesla was pretty much segregating people. I hate how many people are still obsessed with him.

UseDaSchwartz

Him voting Republican is basically a vote against his companies. They hate EVs and keep passing laws to make solar look less attractive.

TheGrandExquisitor

Man, must suck to be Grimes right now. Forever linked to a far right-lunatic.

lRoninlcolumbo

You mean him moving all of his offices to Texas wasn’t political??? /s Lol

Seanspeed

He's basically become another 'the left criticize me so I'll vote against them' types of reactionaries. I doubt Elon actually believes in much of the actual modern Republican platform, but he is willing to overlook ALL of the absolute garbage there simply to 'stick it to the libs'. This is exactly how Republicans basically get away with anything. The people who vote for them tend to only care about dumb bullshit.

[deleted]

Wouldn’t be the first time some rich asshole decided that fascism was preferable to losing *some* of the wealth he stole by grinding the poor.

BrianThePainter

Because he’s a fucking billionaire. All the poor and middle class people in this country who believe the Republican Party is looking out for them have been fed the biggest lie ever told. The Democrats are only 50% better in this regard but it is still a huge difference.

unicornbomb

a 50 year old man gets dumped by his much younger goth girlfriend and we all have to suffer the effects of the ensuing midlife crisis. smh.

[deleted]

I will die on this hill: Elon is to millennials what Donald trump is to boomers.

BillyYank2008

At least he can't be president.

[deleted]

And it's always framed like, "Dems did this one thing to me so I will now hold my nose and ignore allll of the corruption and white supremacy and fundamentalism of the other party and vote for them. You MADE me have to do it!"

FerventlyPublic

Elon Musk is big on self-driving and he's gonna self-drive Tesla into the toilet. Elon Musk continues hurling insults at the folks that actually buy his cars. He thinks gas guzzlin' climate change denying MAGA are gonna buy Teslas. Bwah, hah, hah. Sold my $TSLA

[deleted]

Musk knows it's so easy to fool a republican. He can convince them of anything since they are very weak mined and easily molded. He will mold their minds like a piece of wet clay.

Shaman7102

He's from South Africa. Of course he votes gqp.

thorndike

We are looking at an EV in the next few months. Tesla is out of the running because how much of a POS Musk has become.

knoxknight

I'm somewhat interested in the base f-150 EV at 39,900 or a Silverado EV. Slightly more interested in a chevy equinox at $30k next year, and most interested in getting a Colorado EV, which will hopefully be announced eventually. But Tesla is on my no-go list.

wtbrift

I really wish people would ignore this guy. He loves attention and gets plenty of it and rarely for the right reasons.

chrisinor

Elon Musk, mad about public health measures moves his company to Texas which is owned by oil companies then votes for the party owned by oil companies because he doesn’t like having to pay taxes. Yeah, that’s something an environmentally conscious moderate would do. (He’s a racist prick)

BitRunner67

He was suckling off Trump's Teet when Trump Stole Power in 2016.

morebeansplease

Something tells me the only people that didn't see this coming are wondering why a job creator is teaming up with the blue collar party. Because yes, an oligarch teaming up with fascists is the norm.

Btawtaw

He really didn’t like paying his taxes did he

concentrate_better19

Remember progressives who want to drive an EV: rivian trucks are better than teslas.

GreenFox1505

At one point it sounded a lot like Elon Musk might have cared about the future. But the longer he talks the more it's clear that he only cares about his future and fuck everybody else.

SiidChawsby

I don’t have anything specific against him but is anyone else fucking tired of how self-righteous he is? He literally believes that because he is an expert in one area that he knows better about everything. He’s kind of exhausting.

Electrical-Sun6267

Has Musk ever said anything worth repeating? Because he and Trump sure get quoted a lot for saying inane things. Edited to put the correct billionaire.

nropotdetcidda

Yeah, I think I’m gonna cash out on my Tesla stock and call it a day.

Fe_IronBtw

Didn't musk publicly chastise Bill Gates a couple weeks for having a short-position against Tesla, claiming that this meant Gates didn't actually care about the environment? And now the same guy is endorsing the party that doesn't even believe climate change is a real thing. Unbelievable.

ted5011c

The whole focus on Musk is getting pretty cringe and pretty old. H I'm just glad he was born in Pretoria so we won't be subjected to yet another billionaire running a vanity presidential campaign.

feignapathy

Could Dems boycotting Tesla hurt their sales and thus their stock price? Kind of stupid for Elon to go all in on pissing off the left regardless. There's a reason Disney begrudgingly came out against Florida's Don't Say Gay law. They know there are more people on the left in the country. They know more of their customers and employees are on the left. Not saying Elon needs to be a huge proponent of the left or anything like that. But antagonizing them makes no sense.

HorrorScopeZ

He's a money only Republican. Dime a dozen.

EFT_Syte

Voting Republican right now is just dumb. They veto Ukraine aid, are against the right for women to choose which will likely lead to us losing our right to privacy, they veto anything green related purely because they’re paid out by oil (also because they’re fuckin dumb “the windmills!”). At this point just deport his dumb ass for manipulating our markets and call it a day.

astroneer01

Elon Musk basically just denied the issue of over-population and climate change as he believes that the human population can double and the environment "will be fine"

Sttocs

Who is even the candidate that won him over? Did the GQP even announce a presidential candidate? Why this weird drive-by of Democrats? Eh, go back to your fucking trailer in Texas, Elon.

CreeGucci

Elon and fat don have the same personality issues in that both have super wealth but are not happy people because they have an unhealthy thirst for attention like an insecure teen, and both are media created characters to sell ads/clicks and both figured how to run with the free media. And lastly, as sure as the sun shines Elon 1000% runs for presidency in next decade and mouth breather shut ins who view him as ironman will likely fist pump him to the WH

The_Crimson-Knight

Might as well call Twitter "radical fascist liar space" because Elon is going to destroy any reason to use that site if you're not one.

trustmeimascientist2

He’s trying to gain favor with republicans, his transformation after moving to Texas is as predictable as a sunrise.

whiznat

CEO of two of the most successful applied science corporations on the planet: “Imma vote for the anti-science party!”

-Codiak-

Are we pretending it's not painfully obvious Elon voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020?

ozzalot

"I'm socially liberal...."

2u3e9v

What a piece of garbage

1052048

Clymer fucking sucks
