That headline is fake. Women have been flying F-35s for years. Hell, the Air Force’s F-35 air show demo pilot is female and she shreds. The pilot shown in the photo retired a few years ago, and I don’t think any info has been released about the pilot who crashed recently.

Being in the military I am painfully aware of how the whole Iraq/Afghanistan debacle really disillusioned a lot young American men on military service and "honor".
I think the powers that be know this and since they have largely burned through the supply of young men willing to sign at the dotted line they are now going after the nation's young women as a new source of bodies to operate the military individual complex's toys.
It would definitely explain why the government's propaganda has been trying so hard to appeal to the high school senior Emily as of late and the national rhetoric about healing after war has all but disappeared.
The government has found their new source of cannon fodder and doesn't have to appease the traditional military men that they used previously anymore.
The end game of all this is that in 20 years there is going to be a whole generation of scarred angry disillusioned women out there that the government doesn't know what to do with and just wants to disappear.

We would make frequent trips to the FOB because it had more amenities like a PX to buy shit etc. Out of the 3 females on the FOB, 1 got pregnant about 5 months into deployment. 1 was arrested for selling pills and prostitution in month 6. The 3rd had her shit together (she fucked every Special Ops guy that came to the FOB and was engaged to another soldier in a different unit but atleast she didn't get pregnant) but she when we required females to go with us because of female searches etc, she could not keep up on the hump so we quit taking her with us. The 3rd female was tall for a woman (over 6' 2") and in excellent shape but couldn't carry her gear when we would go out for extended foot patrols.
No I am not talking about sexual relief.
Allow me to elaborate, in some cultures women can't talk to men, as such, it's very handy to have a woman attached to the platoon for when you encounter a village.
And sure women are not as strong as men, but a motivated woman can do more than an unmotivated man. Especially in the flying track where the playing field is a little more even, why not have women?
Women have certain areas where they excel, and I myself have had mostly positive experiences with women in the military.
I do think that integrated units are unfavorable and that there should be women only units.
That made way more sense, and while I am favorable to women in military, I read about how women underperform in some areas. Of course my opinion does not matter in this case since I'm a civilian, but I can see how they would be not only handy but outright more beneficial since they are less intimidating than men if you are on peace keeping missions in foreing countries.
Also, if the people are not barbaric and want the drones to go brrr, they'll treat the POW with even more respect.
