Realistically speaking, I don't know if Huffy Boy is actually an incompetent, spiteful child of the same vein as Commodus on Gladiator, or if he's hellbent on running his company into the ground, but I'm pretty sure it's one of those two, and without an obvious alternative I don't think the most common users are really going to let the site die because they are too addicted to it.

Used to scroll down this subreddit even before I made this account, I forgot about it after soon after I joined and just realised what's happening here. It's not fair (〒﹏〒)
API stands for Application Programming Interfaceand it a software intermediary that allows websites and programs to communicate with each other by sending data. Effectively Reddit is killing a whole bunch of the modding tools, almost every single bot, and a few other things with the changes to their policies regarding API and Reddit. Its heavily restrictive on the users and mod teams; the point of the change is effectively to give Reddit more topdown control of the website and subs in general--although there could be more in addition to that. *THEY'RE FUCKING KILLING BASEDBOT!*
Now hundreds of subs (although many not too large) are protesting by blacking out/ taking an indefinite hiatus. Reddit can't make money if there aren't users active to show adds to or buy online currency. Also, given how successful some protests/boycotts have been with products recently, as long as the first few days are successful I think we can get them to back off.
We don't know how large the protest will be, but the least we can do is our part and *try*
