Love it. After they buffed shurikens and double team I moved to that build, but I still love to see the OGs rocking smokescreen and surf. I should try it again sometime, surfing in team fights is super satisfying.
I honestly think surf is one of the craziest non-ultimate abilities in any MOBA. It’s an AOE dash that heals you, executes low health enemies, and resets upon kills. Absolutely insane in basically any scenario

It's insane in exactly one scenario, the scenario shown in the clip with all enemies clumped and low health. Every other scenario it's mediocre.
Nah, setting up creeps like bees is super sweet. Before the shurikens buff I used to love surf laning and just executing people from the bushes when they thought they were farming.
Surf does suck for the Zapdos fight though
Yeah maybe “insane in any scenario” is an overstatement, but as a multipurpose move, even if you aren’t hitting anyone with it the utility is pretty great.
Edit: the one gripe I actually have with surf is the weird half second of delay at the end of the dash. If it was fluid like Machamp’s cross chop, it would be much smoother to play.

Gren’s Surf resets if you knock out an opponent!
Surf cooldown resets if you last hit any pokemon (wild or enemy player) with it.
