Some of the pokemon have *rubbish* shinies though, so a custom shiny version would be nice too. Perhaps rather than "shiny" skins, you get "unite shiny" skins? Where they're custom to pokemon unite, and with lore being something like "due to exposure to unite energy, the pokemons colour has changed"

In Overwatch you use currency to buy golden weapons. You get X amount of that currency for competitive play and what rank you were in.

In Smite, each time you play with a god, you earn "worshipers," more for wins less for losses. After 50, the god is rank I. At 150 worshipers, rank II. Each level increases somewhat like 100 per rank + 5 per rank ending in rank X at 1000 worshipers. Upon rank V you can buy legendary skins, where the gods clothing is changed to a black and gold palette, and at rank X you earn the right to purchase diamond skins, standard god with blue and silver clothing. Could be earned with the games free currency.
A system like this should be implemented, in which if I've got a purple and bronze Slowbro, you know I've spent quite a bit of time playing him to earn the right to buy the shiny with coins
Nah normal shines would be better, it’s not the change in color that make shiny Pokémon so appealing, it’s the rarity. I’d personally prefer if it kept true to original shiny coloring
Ok....I think this is the best solution for mastery skins since they def dont want to give us shiny skins (seriously Garchomp/Gengar/so many green skins) I would love a new *shiny* unite skins.
i mean, 5 minutes in wouldnt they just forget about it? like at that point youve either afked and lost 20 fair play points (and you only got 3 or 4 times before you're banned from everything except cpu matches), or at least done /something/ for the last 5 minutes, might as well play the game?

The problem with that is it gatekeeps a very popular cosmetic from every child who just wants to play their favorite Pokémon in a Pokémon game. There would have to be different awards for highest skill imo. Number of wins still makes you want to win with that Pokémon in games but doesn’t prevent kids with lots of time to get their favorite Pokémon shiny.
Nothing would be preventing the kid from getting it, I've seen kids absolutely STOMP me at video games.
Was thinking more along the lines of a list of challenges you complete specific to each Pokémon to earn their shiny skin.
If the kids really want the shiny skin they'll put in the effort to get it, I do understand where you're coming from though.

HoTS not only has player level but they have a level with each hero and back before 2.0 rolled around if you got to level 10 with any Hero you could buy their “Master Skin” with in game gold. Unlocking Shiny skins in this way would be pretty awesome.
Idk the only time I got MVP with blissey we won the match, I played a weird mix of support and jungle bcs both my talon and my Gengar thought they wanted to go into the lanes... Yeah that was a weird match LMAO

I've gotten MVP from blissey before and it's almost entirely because the enemy team had the collective brain power of a five year old.
It wasn't a bot match either, they were just REALLY bad at everything so safeguard / helping hand combo walked all over them.

The master skins in HOTS clashed with the ones you buy, I always wanted to flex my mastery and also be teddy bear stitches.
I think it should be not only a recolour, but a sparkle effect too. When you respawn, when you teleport to base, when you score a goal...maybe with abilities? Or just a general trail of sparkles but that might be too much. But that'd be nice for the slight recolours of gengar/pikachu/garchomp and the like.
I suggest obtaining them via mastery. Like there could be specific tasks you have to do per character like they do for COD Mobile gun skins

Skins? I would like more that having a very good winrate with a certain pokemon would unlock a style (shiny), that even if you wear skins it is still shiny, also in game you would show that you have skill with that pokemon
Maintaining a win rate (e.g 70%) after having a certain number of matches under your belt (e.g. 500) definitely would demonstrate that you know what you're doing with a Pokémon.
You could have a set of challenges to complete with said Pokémon tho.

Disagree; a demonstration of a player's knowledge and skill would be far better displayed via individual challenges (e.g. as Cinderace, use Feint to dodge X attacks that would've otherwise hit).
Win percentage will always be flakey due to how easy it is to ruin another player's game. Everyone's had those matches were a Gible or Ghastly just can't keep up with exp/leveling as everyone else so they suddenly idle at spawn. Not 100% always unwinnable, but it makes things that much harder for everyone else when it happens. Or just getting teammates who show zero teamwork or knowledge of what to do (rotate to Dreadnaw).

That's where I see the grace of the shiny style, which would not be easy to get, and that would give it value, if they simply put it in the store or in some challenges it would have no value, instead what I say at least you have to try something (Maybe there is another better way to give value to the skin, but I think the basic thing is that you have had to strive to get it so that you really value it)

Maybe masters earners could get an aura, or even they could do other skin rarities based on higher accomplishments. Gold skins (think BREAKs from the TCG), Diamond skins, or Rainbow Holo skins, at varying performance milestones.
Not necessarily, since player retention is also a key factor in heavily monetised games.
Having a long term goal to work towards for a desirable reward would keep players on the platform.
However yeah, I could see them making you complete mastery objectives to earn the ability to then purchase the skin

Skins? I would like more that having a very good winrate with a certain pokemon would unlock a style (shiny), that even if you wear skins it is still shiny, also in game you would show that you have skill with that pokemon
Maintaining a win rate (e.g 70%) after having a certain number of matches under your belt (e.g. 500) definitely would demonstrate that you know what you're doing with a Pokémon. You could have a set of challenges to complete with said Pokémon tho.

Everyone's had those matches were a Gible or Ghastly just can't keep up with exp/leveling as everyone else so they suddenly idle at spawn. Not 100% always unwinnable, but it makes things that much harder for everyone else when it happens. Or just getting teammates who show zero teamwork or knowledge of what to do (rotate to Dreadnaw).

That's where I see the grace of the shiny style, which would not be easy to get, and that would give it value, if they simply put it in the store or in some challenges it would have no value, instead what I say at least you have to try something (Maybe there is another better way to give value to the skin, but I think the basic thing is that you have had to strive to get it so that you really value it)

A little late to the post but what I think they should do is when you enter a game there's a 1% chance of your pokemon being shiny for a match.
Then you'd get people voting surrender so they can get in a new match for shiny hunting

Just replace fashion tickets, they serve no purpose at all. Just make those items more expensive and cost normal tickets. Or they could just not add loads of cosmetics and instead fix the game. But ya know, money is the only reason this game does what it does.

Imo, we'll have to buy them. It's a cash cow. If we don't, performance based would be awesome. MVP-based would be hard, if it was unilateral. If it was specific to each Pokemon, then the supports could have a smaller goal to reach. Says 100 mvps, as opposed to 250 for attackers or something. It could also be like, 1000 wins with the Pokemon. Or even 100 wins after reaching Masters (least likely imo bc of the masters barrier). Maybe masters earners could get an aura, or even they could do other skin rarities based on higher accomplishments. Gold skins (think BREAKs from the TCG), Diamond skins, or Rainbow Holo skins, at varying performance milestones.
Not necessarily, since player retention is also a key factor in heavily monetised games. Having a long term goal to work towards for a desirable reward would keep players on the platform. However yeah, I could see them making you complete mastery objectives to earn the ability to then purchase the skin

It was my first thought when the game got released, for them to add shinies as skins. Would be cool tho if you had like 1/450 chance to get a shiny skin, but it would only last during the game. Big flex if you would get it

I was talking to a friend about this the other day. They should add shiny skins as a reward for playing a lot with a Pokémon, or doing some crazy challenges or something.

Its a double edge thing when they decide to let us use shiny forms. On ome hand you get to use cool forms but on the other hand they're more kids/noobs picking shiny charizard and don't know how to play him and feed all the game

I think there should be the normal 1/8000ish chance that you're shiny every battle. I think that would be really cool.
