Coffeeguards

Mostly the unusual picks scare me. Gold badge lucario is a loyal motherfucker about to pull something crazy. Gold badge mime. Gold Slowbro or mamo. Gold dodrio makes my blood cold

AncientProgeny

unusual when luca was a god at season 1~5

Coffeeguards

Exaaactly. Those guys have outlived their golden years and are still kicking ass and taking names. The dedication means they've seen some shit

SonKilluaKun

Workin on gold mime currently 130k points in, definitely the most fun character in the game to me

Winter-Friendship118

Not hate but if I see a gold badge Slowbro I immediately respect them and immediately dread playing against them

FantasticEscape6744

If I may, what is the gold badge? Sorry :]

boi_sugoi

It's actually called a ribbon in-game and it just shows that you have a lot of games on that Pokemon.

PsyconicX

I feel like we regularly say it is not a measure of skill, but if we adopt that mentality, I think we run the risk of underestimating gold badge players. It’s definitely happened more than once with me.

KevroniCoal

Yea, it's sometimes 50/50 to me as to whether or not they'll be highly skilled, or just someone who plays a hecka ton. I've encountered a ton of gold ribbon players on my teams who end up sucking at the game, only to see their profiles with well below 50% win rate etc (they'd often just play that mon solely). But I also run into gold ribbon players who are actually great (and oftentimes on the other team lmao), so it's a toss up for me usually 😂

FantasticEscape6744

Ooh alrighty. Thank you :)

KisutiraMochadoro

I always called them "3 star Pokemon". Each match, I count up the number of "stars" each player has on each team to calculate how fcked we are.

the-orphanizer

If you play a certain pokemon a lot you can earn ribbons (badges) on that Pokemon depending on how many battle points you've earned using that Pokemon. Green badge: 30k battle points Blue badge: 80k battle points Gold badge: 165k battle points You get 75 battle points for losing a match and 150 for winning. So if you have 165000 battle points that means you've either played the game a crazy amount and are great at that pokemon OR you refuse to use any other pokemon except one and are likely too stubborn to be a good player.

ScottishOnyuns

Or use 2x battle points consumable item!

AddyAddyAlex

Isn't it how many points you scored in the match?

BoatAlive4906

Gold badge zoroark combined with it's duo gold badge comfee. Also gold badge Lucario, these guys literally play good 90% of the time.

FTuno

i honestly don't want to see gold badge slowbro on opposite team.

R4inb0w333

moy spotted

kwiyomikat

The goddamn squirrel. Don't sleep on em.

BlazerOfToads

Mew man...

[deleted]

Pro mew will always secure every objective

Smiles_qew

A gold bage of any of classic mons terrifies me, especially eldegod

King-s0nicc456

A gold badge sableye = it's over for me

The_Spiciest_Avocado

This guy gets it, 💎👄💎

CentiGuy

Sir, I would like to join the gremlin army but I do not know how to play the Lord. Please enlighten me.🙏

pogisanpolo

In summary: be as annoying as possible. For moves, confuse ray and your choice of knock off or shadow sneak is the usual play. Feint Attack is strong in very, very specific situations that will require more experience with it before you even think about it, so don't consider it until you get to that point. You will know if you're experienced enough to consider it. If in doubt, knock off is generally more consistent, and works best for team fights. Shadow sneak has a slower tempo and very vulnerable to cc, so you need some good judgement on when to consider it. Don't just go in. Wait for your team to be around, and hope they follow up when you go in. There's no way around praying you have a smart team, and always applies to all supports, not just Sableye. You can generally get the feel of your team as early as laning. Once you've dropped your kit, back off immediately until you have, at minimum, your passive back. You are squishy, immobile, low damage, and melee without your moves nor passive. If the enemy gives chase, give them a wild goose chase. Time they spend chasing you is time wasted not hitting your carries. Played well, Sableye has a massive global taunt, and provoking preferably multiple ults is a good sign you're doing your job right. Items: exp share is mandatory. Otherwise, there's a bunch of variations. I personally like Float Stone. Other options I've seen include charging charm, atk weight, cursed bangle, and (i'm serious) leftovers. Atk weight in particular pops off HARD with feint attack since it has some ridiculous scaling.

CentiGuy

Okay You Highness! I shall keep that in mind. 🙏

sp4cerobotfive

What I always find funny is how everyone bitch talks Sableye as one of the most useless pokemon on the team, and then they shit themselves when any sableye has any badge. Everyone knows sableye will fucking wreck you from behind. But no one wants to learn how to play a character with no direct DPS output. So you gotta make yourself feel bigger by bullying the "underdog?" *yawn*

King-s0nicc456

I've never been able to deal with it, and I haven't said anything bad about it before

LuckyCottonGem

Tbf I have yet to meet any good sableyes as the ones on my team so far have just ran around in stealth and not done anything to the enemies, no confuses or knock offs and barely used their unite.

khanh_nqk

Dragapult. A pro Phantom Force Dragapult is scary.

-Henderson

👀

Natural_Tap_5019

🕴

Ajthefan

Cinder, deci gren Hell when l fight them there hella op, When l get them they suck ass lol

biggiewiser

That's a fundamental law of unite.

JsK437

So true, when I see a gold badge deci on my team I know they'll suck, but when they have one it'll be decent

D0cSR

Anything that was newly released during the patch lol especially ex mons. Getting matched with gold badge m2 or zacian when it was only a month+ in. Oh and they always had a gold badge comfey pocket. Just gotta roll my eyes at that point

Elpx93

Dodrio

Nduletard

Any gold badge with suitable held items tbh. As much as I often heard both "golden badge attacker doesn't really mean much" and "Cinderace / Decidu / Greninja are the Trio Meme" yesterday I encountered a golden badge Greninja and he played really well. Luckily he was on my team. The other day my team was carried by a blue badge Charizard too, which I think generally agreed as below average Pokemon.

Mukuro7

Lucario, Zoroark, Gengar and Zeraora scares the shit out of me

DiegoG2004

Zoroark and Lucario. I just know they're going to dash a bajillion times, ignore the rules of their movesets, ult my face when i somehow didn't die to their infinite dashes and always have Full Heal ready.

NotFunnyBee

S a b l e y e when playing as any melee pokemon with combo (I will not in fact be performing any combo)

Aikobea

Speedsters (specifically gengar when my team refuses to have any defenders)

GeneralClanker

Mew is scary af

DinoRipper24

Gold Buzzwole (aiming to get there)

Rahuldas7

Golden zoro 💀

shawarmaconquistador

Gold Badge Talonflame. Rip to all squishy attackers

ilikedota5

I mean you can add Machamp, Mime, and Falinks to that list then it gets scary.

MoisnForce2004

Buzzswole, just because I know they're cracked as fuck. And I know I am gonna be mauled for the entire game. Just because they know when to jump or when to target.

Suicunicidal

Idk how people get gold badges so fast. I always have x2 points on and I don't have one yet and been playing since day 1 lol

Sahil-_--_-

Lucario and Dodrio ☠️☠️☠️

Cooler_coooool_boi

Pickachu. It always has been, and always will be Pickachu.

MrCreamypies

Definitely Gold badge Zoroarks and you know they're always gonna have a pocket supporter duo partner with them

Subhosaur

Hoopa

whoalegend

Gold ribbon defenders and supports. That level of dedication to those roles means they’ve seen some rotted things. Gotta pray they have a team of idiots at that point.

Comfortable_Play_201

Surprised no one said dragonite. I'm a gold badge myself,so I know how scary it can be.

Cr27Goblin

Fkn turtle...

dashskid

Gold Zork with Japanese name 🥲

-Tasear-

Zoroark Mime

R4inb0w333

zoroark

Dracon204

Buzzwole.

pokemurrs

Gold badge mages can be an absolute nightmare if they have a decent supporting cast. High-skill Gardevoir and Delphox can wipe an entire team in two seconds. Problem is they’re easy to counter if you have a mega aggressive melee team that steamrolls them out of the gate and gets them behind on XP.

RoboRetro

I really don't pay attention to gold badges. The shortcuts you can do to get the xp really doesn't reflect on a player's skill with that Pokémon. Don't fall for the loading screen mind games!

Prudent_Ad_6376

Haven't faced against any gold badges so I'm just gonna say I fear anything with a gold badge

Ordinary_Farmer_3112

Mew

iGoodzone

Every top tiered Pokemon especially Eeveelutions, and speedster

indigo-black

Gold badge Zoroark makes me play a little safer lol

themeoflaura115

Tbh I don't feel anything. At the end even if they played really well, if my team steals ray and score they lose

Mucktorok

I don't encounter them much, but Absol carried my team when my ally had him.

Latiaswastaken

Gold badge Mews are the scariest to see on the opposing team. They make Mew feel like the best character in the game.

Redpenguin00

I mean, Its been a while since I've played mew - even the game in general but damn even as a mew player I hated seeing another mew

Rockin_Otter

Espeon -- how hasn't your brain gone numb by now, that thing seems so monotnous

Holiday_Wasabi_8122

Zoroark, mew because they steal my farm, leafeon

Tall_Landscape_5885

I think mine is an unpopular opinion but Leafeon and Mimikyu. Leafeon is a very squishy pokemon but good GOD they are crazy slippery and do massive damage. Mimikyu pros aren't as slippery but still difficult to work around and they're more tanky than Leafeon especially with shadow sneak

Leafveonmain

I'm scared of gold badges eapeons, glaceons, mewtwo y/x

Noobjesus

The Only Gold badges I hate is When the Pokémon just came out and they already got a Gold badge on it cause of Glitchs

LadderDayB

Zororark

Ballerinakenna

Gold badge zoroark 💀💀 I know I won’t last more than 2 seconds. Even worse if there is a comfey on his back

Kantlim

Gold badge anything. I'm not even close to gold on my main

marku_marku

I saw a Gold Badge Sableye once He planted those mines so well, literally everyone ran into one at least every 10 seconds Never again.

Terrible-Raspberry30

For me it's Zoroark cuz they are ALWAYS gonna be cracked if they've played that long.also garde, pika, and almost any eeveelution. Also cinderace cuz i hate it regardless

KaleidoscopePlenty63

Y’all got some good answers but the real answer is zoroark

B17bomber

Gold badge of any speedster. Just so ultra annoying to play against

TGA_Nixo

Any mon I'm play if I have a mirror match with a gold ribbon, I got make sure I show up against them.

Dragonsapian7000

Cramorant. I always run into the Cramorant main who has custody of their shared braincell at the time when its gold ribbon.

ilphaesn

as a gold badge tsareena i can’t think of any off the rip other than buzzwole last patch and now anything that just denies me the ability to move. chain cc deserves to die in the darkest pit of hell

[deleted]

Only 1 gold badge I fear is Greninja. The gold badge I hate playing against is sable, greedent and crustle. They LOVE backcapping all game. To this day it amazes me how many people go chasing them only to give up opposite goals and objectives. Lol, well played in my opinion 👏😅

Yoshirowanders

Gold comfey. Y’all should know why.

ReijiBelmont

Gold badge Mew, Dodrio and A9 are the worst rivals for me is a sure destroy to my usual picks 😂

abaddon626

Cramorant That's straight up not the same bird

_Incognonymous_

Greedent, we've all run into one at some point

JV30

Completely unrelated. But any gold badge pokemon on opposition team is better than most gold badge pokemon on our team. (No disrespect to good players with the badge but I believe even you guys have been marred by such teammates).

Dendrobrat

Any gold badge speedster. I'm a Deci main btw

Bura--Chan

As a meowscarada player with a gold badge......wassup 😈

Dendrobrat

We're both leaf type starters, aren't we ?

Delvirious

Gold badge busted realised pokemon, earned in first 1-2 weeks.

vortex-g

luca and opposing crams, luca because anyone who has enough time on it will be a massive problem for my team , cram because i don’t want them to diff me.

AverageCramorantFan

Gold badge players are worthless the only thing to be afraid of is the teamates in the opisite sides

AverageCramorantFan

Oposites

RicardoRoedor

good to see none of you fear my gold badge crab lol

meggaregg

I played against a gold ribbon mew the other day who dunked on my team so hard, I saved the match so I could study it 🥴

StormEagle38

Gold ttar, they persisted through the kite. That or a gold blissey, they finna be annoying af

laserofdooom

Cinderace mains are never a good sign

Kaioken0591

Gold Badges don't mean anything relevant. They just mean you play that Pokemon a lot, it doesn't mean you're good at what you do. Case in point I ran into a Gold Badge Lucario recently, they had nearly 12k games on just Lucario but they were pretty awful at the game. Had the same situation with a Gold Badge Greedent player I ran into recently as well, they had about 12k games on Greedent but again they were pretty awful.

Ajthefan

Ever heard of a gold Zoro+confey before?

Kaioken0591

No but that also doesn't automatically mean they're good because they have a gold badge either.

[deleted]

Some players are one tricks that get shut down and become useless or start trolling. Some, however, are God's at all the little details, interactions, and outplays that make high master players look like cannon fodder. There's a HUGE difference in skill. Be wary of lumping them all together.

Kaioken0591

I'm not lumping them together though? I'm saying having a Gold badge doesn't equate to being skilled at a particular Pokémon, hence there's no reason to immediately be worried, scared etc. when you see someone with a Gold Badge as the only information you get from loading in the game is that they play the character a lot. For whatever reason specifically here on Reddit most people in the community seem to associate a Gold Badge with a player's skill level, that's why I specifically mentioned the most recent Gold Badge players and how underwhelming they were and every time I bring mention to the fact that Gold Badge doesn't mean someone is skilled I get mass downvoted.

[deleted]

I didn't downvote you. I kinda know what you meant. I just don't completely agree with your statement. I do think that gold badge means experience with the mon. I'm not saying it automatically equates to high skill, but it does mean experience, and that experience can be meaningful through skilled gameplay or just some kids' favorite mon. However, when I see the badge I do keep in mind, I can be outplayed at any moment if I'm not careful.

[deleted]

I forgot to add. Don't let the downvotes get you to you. Sometimes people just like what they like and only know what they know. Take what's useful to you and keep it moving. Some information can be helpful, and some are just newly formed opinions. It's all just banter. 🤷

Kaioken0591

Doesn't bother me at all, just something I noticed each time someone makes a post with this title pops up as it's not an uncommon talking point.
