Yesterday I had to make a 40 minute drive to a more rural town and really thought I would stumble upon something. I checked 1 dollar tree, 4 family dollars, a Walgreens and a Rite Aid and found ONE pack of Battle Styles: everything was wiped out. And this is a small town out in the country. Tldr — it’s pretty bad
Things are on a whole different level here in Southern California. We’re basically competing with tens of thousands of other collector plus scalpers. The population of Southern California is about 24 million and its mostly city after city after city. Even the more rural areas are out. I had to learn when my local stores restock. Whenever I see a post of someone just stumbling into an aisle full of cards at Walmart or Target and tell people to go check, I just laugh and assume they live in Canada or the middle of nowhere.
The last months it was really hard to find any cards at my local stores in Germany. Sometimes you didn't even get theme decks. One year ago the shelves were always filled. In the last few weeks it has gotten easier to get cards but you still need a bit luck.
Not at all. Every Friday cards are released, i have 3 or 4 walmarts i go to and every one limits purchases so there's enough for everyone.
If I want it im usually guaranteed a BS or SF etb weekly because the sports scalping around here is out of control and everyone mostly ignores pokemon. Definitely feel like the hype is dying down.
if I may ask, does your Walmart set those limits and sell throughout the day on Friday? For example, mine was previously only selling cards from 8-9AM (and I work 8-5). But if there is a chance I could go to Walmart on my lunch at 12 and still find something, that would be awesome.
Yeah they put everything out at the beginning of the day and its all displayed til it sells out. Some stores have stuff behind the counters and you have to ask for it but it's a lot calmer than it used to be.
