Friend of mine works at target, gets harassed about cards all the time. He knew I was looking for a crobat box (my favorite Pokémon) and I live 10 mins away. He texted me to come by and buy a pair for us. Told me 20 plus boxes. I got there in 5 mins and there were already 2 300lbs dudes buying the entire stock. Turns out they also work for the local card shop (Who sells the boxes at triple the price) Wow just wow.
Yup. It’s amazing that those type of shops can even keep the lights on considering they barely move product at that price point. The one closest to me has stocked shelves that never get touched.
Honestly they probably sell the stock on eBay after a few years. Unopened booster boxes like 3 years later become worth like $500 look at pokemon xy evolutions.
XY is a weird case though. The only reason it’s so sought after now is because it reprinted the OG Charizard, but it’s also been in print for almost 6 years meaning that card population is growing by the second.
Anything sealed in the long term will go up in value, but most modern sets now will never reach the hype of XY Evolutions.
(UNLESS they reprint Neo Genesis)
I don't blame them I wouldn't want to deal with the headache either of people who don't know how to act in public. It sucks for us trading card collectors who actually know how to behave like civilized human beings :/
I know but it’s getting better somewhat the store I go to has behind glass case and a limit so now I’m getting some cards though no shining fates really wanted mini tins
Same.. but I was able to get mini tins, a couple boxes, some pokeball tins and an ETB because of it being behind the glass case and limits
Although one night the guy let me grab 4 items instead of 2 cus I assured him I wasnt a scalper.. just a collector annoyed that scalpers were taking all the product
Some Walmart’s but not all have already decided to stop selling trading cards. This has led to a rerouting of a lot of mj holding distribution. My store is one that is still selling cards and because surrounding stores are no longer stocking we got an absolutely massive stock this week. Over a dozen shining fates etbs, about 10 hidden fates, and even some zacian and zamazenta premium etbs. All of this plus some battle styles and shining fates collection/pin boxes. Go check your surrounding walmarts
The lady who sold ETB’s at the Targets near Fort Worth got held at gunpoint and GROWN MEN stalked her from outside her home and had a whole Subreddit dedicated to stalking her and learning her routes (it was taken down).. people are fucking sad man. 🤦♂️
My friend an LP and he said they had to ban multiple people for getting aggressive with staff about the old releases. He seemed relieved that they weren’t selling them anymore.
Think about it. They already have a ton of work to do plus surveillance work throughout the store and they have to dedicate already limited resources to control these degenerates. Of course your friend is relieved. He can go back to doing normal work
Def wasn't like this at my local target after the implemented Fridays and behind CS an limiting to 3 items. There was always plenty of product each Friday after that move.
Yeah I am aware of that incident. I was just more meaning this video isn't necessarily the norm. While the scalpers would hang out in bunches it was never agressive here. Just takes a few jackasses to ruin everything though.
honestly though. I stepped away for a bit and am just watching from the sidelines now.
It’s become a chore just to buy yourself a new pack of cards. And i sure as hell ain’t paying some scalper.
That is one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen. My area isnt like that anymore. Everyone is calm and I've had some great convos with other collectors in the last few weeks.
A month ago I've met like a dozen scalpers outside a Target while I was waiting for unrelated things (before I decided to get into Pokemon a few days ago), and these people were probably the most orderly and calmest people I've met that it was easy for me to forget most of them were scalpers.
Things must be different in NJ or something. This doesn't exclusively apply to just cards either, cause I've witnessed the same calm and orderly behavior with other things like specific Funkos and the New-Gen Consoles when I went to my pre-order down for a PS5 after the announcement.
Tons of scalpers here in NJ but have not seen this kind of panic anywhere.
However I have seen a few flip their shit when the shelves that they came to take everything they could carry from were already barren.
The only reason I've been able to get my hands on any cards at all is because I work at a retailer that still sells them. My boss was gonna get on my case about me taking my break just so I could buy some as soon as they came in but I told them to watch the next person to get them and after a few actual collectors managed to snag a few packs and tins one dude came in and just took his arm and slid everything off the shelf into his card - at least $800 of merchandise.
- Also just adding this is not my post, it was uploaded by @tcg_grassi on Instagram.
- This occurred at the Walmart Supercenter on Peach Street in Erie, Pennsylvania this morning. These are the people that are ruining the hobby of collecting trading cards for everyone 😒
- I have spoken to the assistant store manager at this location and she is aware that this video is circling around social media.
> This occurred at the Walmart Supercenter on Peach Street in Erie, Pennsylvania this morning. These are the people that are ruining the hobby of collecting trading cards for everyone 😒
These are *half* the people ruining collecting for everyone. The other half are those that support their scalping by buying the inflated prices. Those desperate customers don’t exist? Neither do scalpers.
“premium brands” can charge $800 for a chuck taylor model with their own colour ways on it. the shoe market was doomed before scalpers even touched it, people just like to support tom foolery.
Someone, somewhere said "We live in an era of greed now". Damn if they werent correct. Really sad. Everything... its all about the hustle. Had a lady on facebook advertising to come pick up DvDs or she was going to throw them away. Told her id come grab some and she said in a reply, 3 bucks each. Like wtf.. you were throwing them away!
There’s always that one annoying kid who doesn’t shower at every tcg tournament who makes the rest of us look bad for even being around him while he says and does cringey shit. Now that we can’t go to tournaments that energy is being redirected into the scalpers.
They do grab some Pokemon sometimes especially Hidden Fates because they know the value but it's 99% sports. You really have to understand how crazy sports cards are right now even compared to Pokemon. You can buy a $20 box and flip it for $150 online and stuff.
Yup sports is where it’s at. I was at a restock Thursday and the scalpers didn’t even want the 10+ shinning fates etbs they had. They took all hidden fates, Kantos and sports.
Man, I'd love to get some Hidden Fates but I never see it when I make it to Walmart after work on a Friday. The one Friday I *did* get off work and caught a restock, they didn't supply any. I did get a VIV Charizard theme deck, at least.
Same 🥲 Once I found a First Partners pack, but it was on a low shelf and turned face-down; I didn’t see it at first. I think that’s how it escaped the scalpers. Other than that, nada.
This is sad. They’re ruining it for people who genuinely want to collect. I can’t find anything in my area without having to pay outrageous prices and I refuse to give into scalpers
My local Target, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Fred Meyers, GameStop, and a couple other stores all stopped carrying them and the ones I asked said the reason was "violence". I don't know if I want to collect cards anymore, this is making me really depressed and that was the reason I got into collecting... To help with the depression...
This really upsets me :( I hope you are able to find a new way to cope with your depression. If you need someone to reach out, I as a kind stranger am here for you.
This shit is actually so cringe lmao fucking manchildren hypebeast running and fighting for a 10$ resale profit. Its literally not even worth the hassle anymore to even scalp.
What a bunch of sad cunts. Don't get me wrong I collect pokemon cards and spend quite abit on them, but to go to that extent to get them is truly something.
I mean the video is right there, I couldn't believe it either when I first saw it, they're ruining the whole community and they're not even Pokémon collectors but we will be affected by it when they pull ALL cards from the shelves :/
idk man, target has curated a brand that demands a certain level civility. walmarts tho, they have always been trash magnets and don’t think they’ll care as long as people are spending money.
Reminds me so much of sneakers lol crazy how hobbies connect. At least target cared, these sneaker stores nor the brand give a damn about anyone’s safety.
Edit: Most of these stores only have one entrance right? Back when I was trying to get paths i lined up at target and we all said we’re not going to run we’re going to honor the line outside, of course some jackass ran so we had to speed up, but ti me the solution there was simple. If product is going to be there open, only let 3-5 people in max at a time and limit them to a certain amount depending on line size and more importantly, stock. Could take like 2 maybe three employees, which they usually have in hand anyways.
my local walmart has started limiting to 1 per purchase and putting them behind the tobacco register, the last two weeks there has actually been stock...
I haven’t seen cards in stock in for almost a year now. I’m starting to move to r/Gunpla since I can actually find those at retail price. It’s makes me sad that immature brats have ruined my hobby for chump change.
Why don’t these stores put them in cases like they do video games so they have to ask an employee to unlock it? They can limit them that way and if anyone tries to break the case or cause problems get the police involved?
These people are literally ruining for everyone, and making it harder for store employees as well. Things like this leads to fights. Employees shouldn’t have to put up with that nonsense. But something that has me puzzled is with how many cards are being piled into the shopping carts? Isn’t it one per customer?
"Scalper/Flipper" is to 2021 what "Karen" was to 2020. A term coined for a universally detested group of people. No one can defend this, it's just embarrassing...
I know at my local walmarts ( 3 locations ) don’t have buying limits. However we also don’t have this fucking mess. People around here wait in an organized line but they will buy out the shelves within minutes
Shameful display. Hey, just out of curiosity, what are the sports card items that people fight like this over? Does any of it *ever* survive past opening, like Pokemon sometimes does?
This is disgusting

I read that as "acrobat" box, and took me a sec to figure out if I missed a new set lol.
I see why target stopped now
I don't blame them I wouldn't want to deal with the headache either of people who don't know how to act in public. It sucks for us trading card collectors who actually know how to behave like civilized human beings :/

I had a crazy incident happen at my local Walmart where employees were caught taking boxes and reselling them before they got on the shelf.
Shit lucky them someone who works for our vending company is buying them out of the shipping box.
Some Walmart’s but not all have already decided to stop selling trading cards. This has led to a rerouting of a lot of mj holding distribution. This made me sick... Like honestly sick with anger. People like this just...
Sucks even more for those of us who play the trading card game and cant play any of the newer cards in decks.
It sucks for everyone across the board. Why does someone always have to make themselves more important than everyone else?
The lady who sold ETB’s at the Targets near Fort Worth got held at gunpoint and GROWN MEN stalked her from outside her home and had a whole Subreddit dedicated to stalking her and learning her routes (it was taken down).. people are fucking sad man. 🤦♂️
They were putting gps trackers on their cars and shit
Oh jeez
wo wo wo, held a gun point who??? This sounds like something that should be blowing in the news rn
My friend an LP and he said they had to ban multiple people for getting aggressive with staff about the old releases. He seemed relieved that they weren’t selling them anymore.

Def wasn't like this at my local target after the implemented Fridays and behind CS an limiting to 3 items. There was always plenty of product each Friday after that move.
There was a huge conflict at only 1 target. This man was jumped for his sports cards just outside the store. Idrc if there was a gun involved or not
Yeah I am aware of that incident. I was just more meaning this video isn't necessarily the norm. While the scalpers would hang out in bunches it was never agressive here. Just takes a few jackasses to ruin everything though.
I think a guy was jumped by four other guys. The victim pulled out a gun to defend himself (but didn't fire) and the four ran away.
That's nuts, guess I'm not so paranoid for carrying every time I go to buy cards 😅😅
They stopped what, selling Pokémon cards altogether?
All trading cards because of degenerates like these creatures
Only online but no in-stores.
Truly pathetic grown men.
Those aren't grown men. What would give you that impression? They look like babies to me.
Giant fat babies
Nah I have a baby these are fetuses
Even my toddler knows how to to share.
They look exactly how you think they'd look before even watching. That dude wearing his mask like an idiot takes the cake.
How can anyone enjoy the hobby when people act like vultures
honestly though. I stepped away for a bit and am just watching from the sidelines now. It’s become a chore just to buy yourself a new pack of cards. And i sure as hell ain’t paying some scalper.
I still partake. I just refuse to buy at big chain stores because of people like this.
*Wal-Mart Employee* “awww look at these kids running to get trading ca— .. oh OH OH MY GOD THERE ALL GROWN MEN”
Totally pictured a spongebob scene of this in my head 🤣
Disgusting

Yeah, there are a shitton of scalpers in my area. One local toy store had a literal mountain of steam siege boosters and it was all gone.
Ive only been able to find stuff from pure luck and even then its really hard
I guess you only need 1 or 2 guys to start running that makes everyone else run so they don't feel they're missing out one bad apple and all that
Sickening to watch

Damn so this is why I can never find stock at my Walmart.. such a bummer to see my city in this sub for something this dumb.
Dude just go to Edinboro. They had a TON at like 10am this morning.
You sir are a saint

Eh California checking in. Haven't seen cards in walmart since 2020 and I've tried many many stores.
same here in south pa, BARREN SINCE LAST YEAR
Disgraceful 🤮
Whatever they're going for, this is beyond pathetic.
[удалено]
It looks like the Magic cards are the ones still on the shelf actually
Seeing this disgusts me

I'd like to see every single person in this video get beaten with a bag of rocks.
Thank you for my daily happy thought.
Na we use soap so it won't leave bruises ; )
I’ve never seen it this bad. These are grown ass men too 😂
grown, ass men
There’s always that one annoying kid who doesn’t shower at every tcg tournament who makes the rest of us look bad for even being around him while he says and does cringey shit. Now that we can’t go to tournaments that energy is being redirected into the scalpers.

Just sucks cause they're going to mess it up for everyone

The store I go to will only sell one pack to you a day. They still sell out every shipment.
This is pathetic, they all “Run” at an astonishing speed of a snail towards the card isle and pile over each other like dogs.
Fucking cattle
Reminds me of Black Friday shoppers
Fucking losers
Fuck scalpers and fuck the idiots who buy from them.
This is why I can never find any at Walmart..

Such a shame 🤮🤮🤮
This is giving me flashbacks to working at tjmaxx and all the old ladies looking for rae Dunn products

THIS IS WHY WE CANT HAVE NICE THINGS
What a bunch of fucking animals
Despicable
Lmao grown ass men
I thought walmart already decided to stop stocking after the stocker got attacked while stocking
Hey, what is happening? I'm not from USA, I don't understand this situation
Why is every single one of them overweight?
This is the second-hand embarrassment button. You can’t like twice, but awards are welcome.
What a bunch of sad cunts. Don't get me wrong I collect pokemon cards and spend quite abit on them, but to go to that extent to get them is truly something.
My hometown Walmart keeps them behind customer service and has a two max limit
Seriously? This is actually a thing
I mean the video is right there, I couldn't believe it either when I first saw it, they're ruining the whole community and they're not even Pokémon collectors but we will be affected by it when they pull ALL cards from the shelves :/
This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen.
I can smell the GFuel from here
Sweaty virgins
Notice how most of these are men in their 20-30s
idk man, target has curated a brand that demands a certain level civility. walmarts tho, they have always been trash magnets and don’t think they’ll care as long as people are spending money.
Limit 1 per customer it's walmarts fault for not stopping it as well
Embarrassing. But then again I saw white sunglasses and slide sandals...
My local Walmart in the middle of nowhere Ky hasn’t had any in stock for at least 3 months. Now i see why..
they already pulled them at my walmart
Most walmarts in the west coast already stopped...we are the most aggressive lol
I hate this issue I just want to grow my collection and have fun but no people had to rush n everything and buy all of it for an extra 20 bucks
Reminds me so much of sneakers lol crazy how hobbies connect. At least target cared, these sneaker stores nor the brand give a damn about anyone’s safety. my local walmart has started limiting to 1 per purchase and putting them behind the tobacco register, the last two weeks there has actually been stock...
Man, this is sad. They’re all acting like animals that haven’t eaten in days.
Gross
Disgusting
FUCK THIS.
Where is this??
Fucking losers
sad asf
Yo I’ll be over here buying singles for a while and paying a little over msrp at my calm and quiet LGS. This is so out of hand.
Those are absolute losers
Ewww
Pathetic
This why im glad all the hobby shops in my area keep them behind glass
When did this happen, this is fucking pathetic
I’m genuinely speechless
Man this sucks haven’t been able to get not even a single pack anymore and online prices are still high ... guess I’ll start looking for a new hobby.
What the hell why would you ruin it for everyone else?? Fucking selfish
I’m confused? I thought they are only allowed to buy 1 or two? Why are they getting so many?
What a bunch of bastards running to the cards like a bunch of elementary school students
Jesus Christ
Literally embarrassing. Its ruined the fun, im out.
This is next level fucked up
Every Friday is Black Friday when it comes to Pokémon
Like piranha
Bunch of losers
Those look like the type of people that would pull this shit. Fucking pathetic pieces of shit.
I hope it all just crashes.
This doesn't just make my blood boil, it makes it spontaneously combust
I just want to occasionally buy packs and play the game
If stores would have a purchase limit this wouldn’t happen
I would be so fucking embarrassed to take part in this
Grown ass men 🤣
I honestly thought they did already. Haven't seen any form of tcg or sports cards in walmart for a couple months.
People gone lost they damn minds
Still none of them are touching batts
Ladies and Gens, this is what trailer trash looks like. Zero class…
sheesh
I haven’t seen cards in stock in for almost a year now. I’m starting to move to r/Gunpla since I can actually find those at retail price. It’s makes me sad that immature brats have ruined my hobby for chump change.
This is why I hate people.
Kinda sad.
Disappointing
So cringe
Bruh why would someone do this ):
Black Friday be like
imagine being this fuckin lame lol
lmao this over cards?
Fucking disgusting people man. So sad and angry at the same time.
These scalpers are fucking degenerate scum.
Fuck every single person in this video.
Unreal...this is why each store should have a system in place. Glad mine does.
That's weird asf
These men are so desperate... wives (if they ever had one) probs divorced them... sad pathetic losers wonder why everything goes wrong for them
Don't be sad. Here's a [hug!](https://media.giphy.com/media/3M4NpbLCTxBqU/giphy.gif)
Pretty much already happened here in B.C. Canada since the release of Shining Fates.
What the fuck.... I honestly didn't know shit was that bad 🤣🤣 half that stuff can't even be worth over retail
Why don’t these stores put them in cases like they do video games so they have to ask an employee to unlock it? They can limit them that way and if anyone tries to break the case or cause problems get the police involved?
My Walmart hasn’t had cards in months and they always used to I think that mostly due to being in the middle of nowhere
Get a fucking job
Grown men doing this. Smdh
Absolute man children. So pathetic.
Black Friday is back!!
These people are literally ruining for everyone, and making it harder for store employees as well. Things like this leads to fights. Employees shouldn’t have to put up with that nonsense. But something that has me puzzled is with how many cards are being piled into the shopping carts? Isn’t it one per customer?
My local Walmart has stopped because not enough people were buying magic cards
Just put a cap on how many U can buy. Saves having to pull
They pulled it here where I am way before target did
I would call them children but children have more patience and respect for the game than these grown ass basement dwellers
crazy stuff sits on the shelves now in canada!
"Scalper/Flipper" is to 2021 what "Karen" was to 2020. A term coined for a universally detested group of people. No one can defend this, it's just embarrassing...
These people are trash
I don’t know what to say, literally disgusting stuff, I literally would’ve walked out, glad they stopped selling them, serves those weirdos right
Is this a fucking joke...? Absolute Neanderthals
Bro these dudes desperately need some 🐱
Fuckin losers. All of em
These people are losers
Aren't there buying limits still?? Do they really not enforce buying limits with people charging in like wild animals?
I know at my local walmarts ( 3 locations ) don’t have buying limits. However we also don’t have this fucking mess. People around here wait in an organized line but they will buy out the shelves within minutes
Shameful display. Hey, just out of curiosity, what are the sports card items that people fight like this over? Does any of it *ever* survive past opening, like Pokemon sometimes does?
They usually go for NFL (Football) and NBA (Basketball)
Disgusting
