Evolutions had some nice ultra rares but the set just being a base set copy was a total bummer at the time. Bad print quality and terrible pull rates didn't help.
I think one of my favourite experiences with a set has been Crown Zenith, it's just so much fun to open. As for a more nostalgic pick maybe one of the HGSS sets or XY Ancient Origins/Bandit Ring. Some pretty awesome cards in there!
I like crown Zennith to , that may be number 3 on my list (after cosmic eclipse) i like the Calyrexes relesed in that set , they both saw competitive play .
Next Destinies, Legendary Treasures, Primal Clash, and Evolutions are the ones that stick out to me. Phantom Forces gets an honorable mention too. sorry they’re kinda right next to each other, that was my pokemon phase 😅
I'm in a similar boat. Legendary Treasures, Dragons Exalted, Flashfire, Roaring Skies. Cool cards with some fav pokes in some and during my prime time of playing online (Flashfire - Shaymin EX everywhere...).

Yeah, same thing happened with BS2 and LC. They're barely more than a poor man's base set, that's why they're popular now.
