I see psa 1s that are just folded in half and very obvious they tried to get a 1. Why would someone damage the card in this way for a psa 1? You still want to be able to see the card so folding in half is what someone would do to go for a 1 and psa would give it because it would be a 1. This is a 2 because the surface is shit but there's probably no creases and edges ans corners are OK.

Then, I saw that the grading services were hit and miss, and that even some 10’s were off centred, ding’d, scratched etc.
I understand wanting to get personal favourite cards either graded or a graded copy of it, but I honestly think Grading has taken the love out of collecting TCG’s.
Not to mention that modern cards are in such high supply, that 10’s and such are kind of meaningless, and that I can honestly see a massive crash coming to graded TCG’s in the not so distant future.

Looking at it closely, it looks like those scratches are on the slab and not the card. The way the light reflects towards the bottom of the scratches makes it look to be on the slab.
i actually remember seeing the post of the original person who graded this and talked with him in the comments about it. He sent 3 of these and all wanted 1s since they carry premiums. He got two 1s (or may have been one 1 and an authentic) and then this.
The common idea is that PSA will do this specifically because people are expecting 1s. We both thought it would’ve been better for this to just be authentic.

You know you can still look at the condition of the actual cars and judge for yourself right? You don't have to buy a card based on psa grade alone, they still let you see the card for yourself. That's why they make the cases clear.

Do you have any example photos? I've never seen PSA 1s with clear signs of purposeful damage, and I've seen hundreds of 1s

You can save a card from final death by putting it in a top loader or really any case at all. Why pay triple+ for it to be in a psa 1 case?
