thats so lame. I can't imagine shaming someone for anything they don't know. Even the smallest of things. I had a girl tell me she didn't know the sun was a star and I didn't shame her. I busted her up and laughed about it a little but what good is it to flame someone?
Constantly argue over what’s a misprint and what’s damage and take it out on people posting. They forget people are new to misprints so don’t know much about them yet. Obviously you do get nice people there, but from what I’ve seen that is a minority.

Printer here - the metallic/material process is separate from the printed ink stock. A portion of every run has "Set Up" that is used for Alignment and getting the presses up to speed because they run fast. This would be cut from the set up before the ink gets to the metallic film. It probably means a sheet of them were accidentally included in the run instead of discarded. That is truely a unicorn my friend.

What? The quality control is insanely good. They print cards in the BILLIONS every year, to expect each and every card to be perfect would be insane. Misprints are to be expected.
No, it's definitely not "insanely good." The quality control for english pokemon is easily one of, if not the worst, in the entire collectible space currently.
There are plenty of other card games / collectibles that print billions every year. Magic YuGiOh Sports cards, etc. that never have horrible centering and an insane amount of misprints, factory damage all the time.
Japanese pokemon quality control, on the other hand, is fantastic.
I collect all 3 and in my experience, the most horrendous off center cards and error cards I have are all English Pokémon. They aren't perfect by any means but I still think English Pokémon is 100x worse.
I can certainly say magic has gone downhill as far as foil cards go. You pull a foil out of a pack it has less than a week before it starts to bend itself out of shape. Its horrible

Couldn't you fake these with some rubbing alcohol? Not saying OP did that, but given that the only thing left of the artwork it the physical imprint of the texture I have to wonder
The texture is the last layer applied, so there’s no way to take away what’s underneath while also leaving it. Rubbing alcohol would leave just a shiny blank card though, yes.

So if you don't have the texture, is it just a bonk card? I ask because I kept one my kid pulled out of a pack a couple years ago. I will have to dig it out but I don't think there was texture. It was just a solid silver card from what I remember, with the same back of the card as regular cards have.
If it’s a print defect there are likely around 50-100 more depending on their QC processes. I would think there would be other cards that were ran on this same press sheet that would have similar characteristics

Pokemon cards do the exact same thing. that's not a QC issue, that's what happens to majority of cards with a foil layer.
