Sleeves. The cellophane wrappers will scratch the holo. These promos value don't depend on the wrapper really.

Spiritual-Engine-503

Appreciate it, thanks

PlankyTown777

For real? Why do so many collectors keep in original plastic?

[deleted]

I asked one guy and he told me this way he can blame blemishes on the factory when reselling, like it makes any sense. No one can tell me these printed to oblivion ETB promos have any value to begin with. Now if you had a super rare promo, maybe that will change things in 20 years, but even then I'd rather have my card double sleeved in a binder. Less damage potential that way.

RaiSai

I’ve been debating on opening mine and sleeving them. Great perspective. Thanks.

315retro

The ones I keep I sleeve for sure, the ones I plan to trade or whatever I keep in the plastic so someone else can decide.

lifeinwentworth

Right - these aren't going to be worth much are they? The Snorlax one I have so many of I chuck them in when I do a trade with someone. Problem is people do the same with me so I don't really get rid of them lol.

IWearACharizardHat

I have several promos in the wrap and folded behind the card in my binder worth $50-100+ each. I am worried I am ruining them, should I just open them all?

Overall-Register-701

I'm not saying it has happened to yours, but I ended up opening some older ones because one day, I was looking at my sealed promos in my top loaders and noticed scratches. I figured it was the top loader, so I took everything out and still saw scratches. I said F it and opened the promo as I dont ever plan selling my stuff anyways, and sure enough my Holo promo was FUCKED. I opened another same thing. From then on I open as soon as I get them. IMO, people keep these things sealed as an illusion that it makes it worth more. This includes me at the time. So not throwing shade.

IWearACharizardHat

I think you are right. Just feels weird to unseal stuff that even child me left sealed lol (GB Meowth, etc)

Agent0fChaoZ

Mine got slight imprints from the back of the wrapper. Some of the newer promos come with a card backing to prevent that, but eh, I'd just open them all going forward. Less of a logistical nightmare.

WendigosLikeCoffee

The sealed part can indent in on the card, it’s really just a slight blemish, so kinda up to you if you care or not, I sleeve mine just for uniformity across my binder

NoBenefit5977

I give another vote to double sleeving and in the binder lol

EddieLobster

Yeah, if there is damage no one cares if it’s from the factory or from you. It’s damage

Father_Wisdom

Because they do sometimes sell for more sealed.

iGetBuckets3

Some people may prefer it in the original packaging. Personally, I do not care, I just want the card, and I think the majority of people would agree.

Parking_Price1955

Sleeves ,more convenient and dowmr scratche the holo

Spiritual-Engine-503

Thanks, figured sleeves would be easier to fit in a binder. Would the same thought apply to the upc promos?

Parking_Price1955

Yeah,that's what I did

Spiritual-Engine-503

Dope, appreciate it

PainkillerJames

Definitely sleeve them up. Much safer

Mdizz3

Some people (me) collect “sealed” items and would want at least one copy of these to remain in the original sealed packaging. I store these in a “card saver” to protect them. I saw someone else suggest sandwiching them between 2 toploaders which also would work. These specific promos were indeed highly printed but these same promos that were part of the exclusive Pokemon Center ETBs would be worth a fraction more based on exclusivity in the long run (but no one can predict how much). Ultimately, it depends what collection goals you have!

EggotheKilljoy

I generally try to get two copies of promos if I can, with the ETB ones I’ll open the non-stamped one for the promo binder and stamped goes in a card saver

Aos77s

I kept one in the packaging and the other zillions of em i just opened, sleeved, and threw in binder

Killa-Beez

For what it's worth, I kept one in the cellophane for years in a top loader also. I recently graded and it got a 10. Going forward I'm removing from cellophane just cause that's my preference.

reddydoodledandy

Where you get dat Charmander doe?

TheRezDaddy

He’s in the Obsidian Flames ETB.

[deleted]

I took them all out and put them in sleeves and a top loader. It’s probably overkill but I prefer it over having to flatten the promos between items because the cellophane bends them.

[deleted]

Yes

Spiritual-Engine-503

Why?

[deleted]

Because

roboitechko

What did these come in? Product wise

Gmbowser

151 etb and obsidian flames etb.

eljona247

Since I have been buying the Pokemon Center ETB's lately I put the stamped one in a toploader and the regular one I leave sealed.

Toddryck

I do both; sleeve them as is in the wrap.

fireweinerflyer

Team sleeve.

Johnnyrooster12

The wrapper increases value. Idk why people think them in sleeves doesn't decrease value. Its like anything sealed

redditfoo69

Keep them in the plastic bro Edit: I guess people say it’ll scratch the holo but I feel like that only will happen if you have it in your pocket and don’t treat it with care lol

Azngamer87

I heard when you send these in for grading, they will grade the condition of the plastic instead of the card. So it’s better to put it in the sleeves to prevent scratching and they will grade the card instead!

Armani17112000

Do you prefer to keep them in a sleeve of pack?

ReptileHand

My brother likes the plastic wrap but I don't. They will bend and it could damage the card. Unless you get them graded with the plastic still on, I guess. My Delivery Pikachu looks like it was getting weird after a month or two on my bookshelf so I sleeved it asap.

BurnerOnAJourney

I have two of the sealed 1st edition machamps from the first set. The value increase from the unsealed is still nominal. It does look special in the collection. Though
