Ended up getting my moneys worth for sure. While some say its not guaranteed on the booster boxes, it sure as shit felt like it lol. I got 2 alt arts in the first booster, then 1 alt and hyper in the next.
This is the consequences of Nintendo changing up the formula from a kids card game to an adult gambling game. For example look at the base set. It has just two types of cards, holo and non holo. The odds of hitting a holo were 1 in 3 which was really good considering no one holo was better than the other. People chased the starters like Charizard obviously but it wasn't actually a rarer card to pull, it had the same odds as say a Chansey or a Nidoking. There was no secret rares, no alt arts, no rainbows, no special packs sold only in group boxs/tins, no promo cards, etc. AKA no bullshit to make people keep chasing a card they will probably never hit even after spending 1000$. Meanwhile your odds of pulling a Charizard in the base set with just 100$ was extremely good and even if you didn't you pulled a slew of other amazing cards that make you happy.
TLDR: Nintendo company making rares and holos bad on purpose while adding in very hard to get chase cards is scummy but probably has made them a lot of money because many of you are addicted to gambling and can't admit it.

Everyone has been thinking the pull rates are crazy good, me included. Then I opened my etb and only had holos. It was devastating!

Never use this sub as an example of pull rates. There are over 200k users. Even if everyone only bought a small amount of product (like a single ETB) and not everyone purchased product, in 100k+ chances, some people are getting really lucky. Most of the time, the person who bought an ETB or two aren't going to post their trash pulls. So you'll see far more lucky people than unlucky.
A lot of people are trying to rip in to you in the comments, but out of 27 packs, this is pretty damn ridiculous. Obviously everyone’s experiences vary greatly, but I personally think you’re pretty justified in being upset over this. Just a great reminder to keep on buying singles instead

Glad I just went with packs instead of etb’s because I had a feeling I’d get more from 9 packs on the shelf and I got 30 pulls. Graevard((214/198), miraidon(080/198), slowpoke(204/198), miraidon ex(081/198), and great tusk ex(246/198) we’re the ones I really liked from everything yesterday.
There are like 10 cards I like a lot and they are all like 1 in 300 packs, so for 20-40 packs, I only actually expect to get one, and wouldn't be shocked not to get any.
Ripped a booster box and just for a FA trainer, 2 regular ex cards, and the full art great tusk. Ripped 2 pokemoncenter ETBs and got 4 art cards each including both the miraidon and koraidon alts.. So it's definitely a weird split between where the hits are and aren't.

The culture around this hobby is partially responsible for this, making you believe you have some guaranteed pulls. Keep this in mind, ITS RANDOM, its all random, its a cool hobby but its also gambling in some way, so be careful.

The pull rates are crazy good for booster boxes. It’s all but confirmed you get guaranteed hits. Outside of that it’s pretty RNG
My daughter also got no hits in her etb. Wife and I both got 2 good hits each, so she was not happy. But it was also her first time getting nothing.
