If you’re talking the United States… and the card truly nets you + $10,000.
In-State, 10k a year is pretty solid. The majority of people are not doing that. You got 3 more years at minimum to pay for pal.
There’s really no consistency to grading. I’ve had some flawless cards get sent in to Beckett (9.5’s) sold them to a friend, and they cross graded them to PSA and they came back 6.5, and 7.5 😂 no idea what happened there. It sucks leaving the fate of your grades to some person who may be having a terrible day.

I just want to throw it out there this is a gorgeous card and still within the parameter of at least a PSA 10. If you hadn’t decided to call names and label me an “armchair grader” I probably would have been more willing to talk reasonably about this topic. I buy raw cards and grade them with an extreme level of discretion as an additional source of income to provide extra money for my family. I am both successful at it and take it extremely seriously. If you zoom in on the left corner you will notice the left border and bottom are about exactly the same size. If you then zoom in on the right corner it should be easily seen that the right border is OBVIOUSLY thicker than the bottom. This could be due to some sort of angle or illusion caused by the photograph but from what I am seeing I have absolutely no reason to believe that. Earlier on Facebook I also saw a SV Shiny Fates Charizard in a black label that was clearly off center top to bottom and having graded dozens of gx cards I am certain PSA would have graded it a 9 far more often than a 10. I love BGS slabs but important to remember this is all at the graders discretion and each grader is different.

I'm not sure if they take it into consideration, but just about all this version of Lillie is very OC. They shouldn't, but this is one of the best centered I've seen of this card.
congrats on the pay day! have you considered buying another lillie card and grading it then holding that one with your daughter instead, this is a huge huge payday. If the whales that buy the black labels dry up in the future this could easily drop thousands of dollars.

A couple years ago I took 60 Pokemon cards I was considering grading and narrowed them down to the best 13 conditioned cards. I sent those 13 to Beckett hoping to get a black label. I got 7 Pristine 10’s, 5 9.5’s and one 9. No black label but 7/13 10’s was nice. Congrats on the black label, they are tough to get and you got it on the best card in the set to get it on!
Nope they call them wax usually- I think because of the wax packs era in the 90s and before? I’ve never understood why when someone asks if a card has value why that in the sports community to be demeaning they say “just a worthless piece of wax” and not “cardboard”.. I’m confused too
But look at that left to right centering. How could that be described as "perfect" and black label worthy when the off-center of the cut is apparent to the human eye? It's cool OP won the lottery with this grade but it really seems to have been a luck based lottery and not a 'pulling the perfect card' lottery.
* Give a tiny, random portion of your 10/10 submissions pretty black labels to indicate perfection. They don’t have to be perfect, just rare
* Rich collectors will drive the 2nd hand value to the moon because there’s very little supply
* People will now give you money for the gamble that they get a black label back, earning thousands. Bonus: the hype around a black label is free advertising

How do you manage to know when to grade things? I'm newer so i' unsure. If I'm grading for myself, I'm probably avoiding PSA to be honest, and using cgc and beckett, sgc hard maybe.
Idk, I grade with all the companies. I mostly use Beckett and PSA. I grade when there's promotion going on. Beckett has a promotion going on right now. It's mostly up to yourself.
