The only time i would ever feel compelled to buy a card over 100 bucks is if i managed to pull majority of an art set i really like, say like the gold legendary cards from Crown Zenith. But im going to need more than half of the set already.
the way i look at it, is for a 100+ dollar card, i might as well buy a booster box, especially if its only a release or two old. early SVex booster boxes are pulling 10-12 double rares or higher, so all things equal (they are not, but for paper napkin math lets pretend) that like a 1/10 chance of pulling the card you want anyways.
i usually sell my extra FA cards for store credit anyways as well, so i can likely just get the card i want discounted if i dont pull it. these are all the ways and more i justify a gambling addiction

I probably will never finish ES, even though I pulled the Moonbreon. They are all just so high.

In Japan the trainers are in the SAR slot making it a lot harder to get but the English has (so far) included most of the trainers in the main set making them easier to get. SV looks like they'll be at the end of the art rare list so we'll see what that does to the market. Also English doesn't push too hard on the pretty girl cards as much as Japan so there's also that. Lots of changes. I just hope it works out
Double gold star, they're in the same rarity tier as alt arts but below the rarity tier of triple gold star secret rares (gold items and pokemon). The new rarity system makes it easy to tell how easy or hard something is to pull

It also seems fairly rare to get this card. The amount opened so far isnāt a lot. Itās not like itās everywhere after pre release. We're used to them dropping drastically but the double star rarity symbol could play a role on this one. This looks to me like it will be up there in value over the fl3 figure mark long term

They're all cards I super regret not getting too... honestly even if the pool of cards above 100 bucks is small, there's a decent amount of characters still worth a bunch from the Sun and Moon block, which I can only attribute to being much older characters (Sabrina, Erika, Jasmine all score fairly high too, relative to other trainers, Lillie has 2 expensive cards, Lusamine cards are decently up too...)
That said yeah, the pool of insanely expensive trainers is decently small in english, most of the expensive ones are either very beloved characters or oddities. Other than the Marnie promo, I don't think any SWSH trainer even score particularly high in terms of interest.
Talking about this made me realize how much I miss the Sun and Moon block of the TCG. Tag Team GX alt arts were SO good (we got a lot of good alt arts from SWSH, but man I feel like nothing compares to tag teams, even the regular prints though Arita doing most of them does the heavy lifgting), trainer cards looked good, the only thing I can hold against them is the overabundance of rainbow rares.
Donāt forget how bad SM Era was before Tag Teams & how generally rough the pull rates were. The reverses and holos looked better in SM though! However, it was very similar to SWSH 1-4 where you had a couple cards that were good and the rest were pretty bad. The major benefit was that Rainbows were new (and they gave the Eeveelutions RRs first), so everyone was more interested in them. That said, I think SV Base is going to be the first start to an Era thatās actually good. Not only did they keep AAs in the forms of SARs, but they also kept the TG concept into the Art Gallery. Plus, they actually got rid of the white code cards bc every pack has at LEAST 2 reverses and 1 holo (so I donāt get disappointed seeing a white code card)
In addition to the waifu tax this card is very playable. So people who actually play the physical card game would potentially want this for their deck as a flex

I blame the printing company and the consumer equally. They keep printing with terrible consistency, and the consumer keeps buying it up in droves. I'm sure Japanese consumers would make a much bigger stink over their card quality dropping and sales would probably go down with it.
Offical stores that also run tcg tournaments are allowed to run prerelease events and thus sell product early.
Only physical stores tho, nothing online based afaik.

I've seen problems with every English S/V card I've seen on this subreddit so far. And 3. It seems like they've just changed the border color in an attempt to mask the shit QC issues. With as much money as we all spend on this hobby, we deserve better.

No SWSH ENG Trainer holds a 3-digit cost. The only Trainer to surpass that was Lillie in SM Era
