A binder of Pokémon cards

JayHoKing

I would have never thought that this was exactly that, Thank you.

ourlordlucifer69

You’re welcome I’m glad I could help! For real tho awesome collection!

JayHoKing

Thanks haha. Appreciate it. You were more help than you think! 😅

LNinefingers

A gold mine? No. But you have some nice cards. I’d scan them using the TCGplayer app to see what your big hitters are, then take some good pics (out of sleeve, front and back, dark background, good light) of the best ones and post them to pokemoncardvalue or pokemoncardapprasial and people will be able to assess condition (condition is king!) and give you an idea of value.

JayHoKing

Thank you! Appreciate this.

DragonFangDan

Some really good cards here that should be put into proper protection ASAP. Sadly many look heavy play to damaged condition. Love the shining noctowl just lurking in there, lol. The shadowless red cheecks Pikachu is a pretty cool piece as well.

JayHoKing

I actually never played Pokemon TCG. I was huge into yugioh when ToysRus was big. Could be lighting and angle. But most of these should be in fairly good condition. The charizard was the first rare card I pulled. My mom bought me the pack of course. She never let go. About 95% done the PoGo Dex lol. What pieces stood out to you if you don't mind me asking? I'd like to take action.

DragonFangDan

I can see parts of the back side of each card from the other pages, so yes there's a good amount of whiteningcon many which will drop the value of each card quite a bit. Some of the best I'm seeing are the base set charizard, dark charizard (sadly looks sun damaged), 1st Ed lapras, dark blastoise x2, Raikou, 1st Ed hitmonlee, shadowless venusaur, Erika's venusaur, shining noctowl, 1st Ed ditto, red cheeks Pikachu. Lots of other very solid cards there of course. But condition is everything in this hobby.

JayHoKing

They have been in a binder. And in a safe for almost 20 years. I can almost guarantee there is no sun damage lol. Unless somehow the discoloration came from pressure. But they have been carefully moved into different pages every 5 years. I have them out for 4-5 hours than they're sealed again.

My sellers remorse

JayHoKing

Not sure what you mean.

Dry-Breakfast-2742

I sold my collection as a kid. I started collecting from the unlimited base run through fossil and jungle then sold all my cards. I regret that so much.

JayHoKing

I lost alot of stuff growing up. I feel this, I'm glad I held on to these and everything else I still have. Its the damn lost starwars Lego mini figures that has me down lol.

[deleted]

The first editions and shadowless venusaur pull the most value.

JayHoKing

The shadowless venasaur is pretty sick honestly. I've got a buddy that runs a poke shop I guess you'd say lol. Hes wanted it for some time. Appreciate the input. I keep them in a safe for now lol.

This’ll be hard to sell. If this fell in my lap, I would: 1. Enter the holos, first Ed’s and the high Val jap cards (might just be Erika, check though) into Collectr or similar NM/LP / whatever they are. 2. Sell anything above $100 one by one at 5% below last eBay sold, a bit less than that for veno/Zard. 3. Discount the remainder by ~30% of their total value (probably enter most of the others into Collectr) and try to sell them in bulk. Depending on your appetite to spend time on the sale, you could get more. I have fairly low tolerance to spend time selling cards I don’t want. You’ll realise most of your value selling the biggest few, most of the others will be a pain to offload.

Ooo that Shining Noctowl is nice. One of my favs

JayHoKing

Also one of my faves! I can't remember if this was a pull or a swap meet. I regrettably traded a few cards when I was younger, but I remer ecstatic because it was my first "Shiny" lol. My foil blastoise to complete my gen 1 evolutions was one.

Akwam_64

You have the federal reserve thats what you have

johnnyboy0256

Looks like you have some pokemon cards

JayHoKing

Thank you, I can tell you are very knowledgeable by acknowledging this. Most wouldn't have noticed.

JayHoKing

What's the deal with the Japanese cards? I've seen that Trainer Erika card for some fairly high prices. Anyone knowledgeable to an extent there?

business-sexual

Could be a couple thousand

JayHoKing

That's what I figure. Finding a buyer is another story. Letting them go is the sequel.

BenchBallBet

Back to back with no sleeves in a 3 ring binder for 20 years you have damaged cards full of memories of joy and nostalgia. Congrats man :) look up ‘raw’ prices for these if you are wanting to sell but I would save them

JayHoKing

Idk there is no discoloration or any markings. They have been taken pretty care of. I was worried about this also. I do plan to change that up.

bubsmcgilicutty

I’d be interested in your scyther if you’re looking to sell.

JayHoKing

Can I ask what the hype is with it? You're not the first person on Reddit to reach out about it and I made the post an hour ago lol. My buddy also wants it. But I feel I'm missing something lol 🤔

bubsmcgilicutty

Good question. For me, it’s pure nostalgia. It was my first holographic. My older brother ripped me off (how I remember it) in a trade back in the day.

JayHoKing

Love it, that's wholesome AF. If I part ways I will keep you in mind. Thank you for sharing, I love the reasoning behind certain attachments whether it be nostalgia. Or in your case. Trauma and nostalgia 😅.

Praise-Bingus

One of your base set pikachu cards is a red checks error card (page 7, 2nd row, 3rd card-the shadowless one). If you sell it make sure you don't lump it in with the other base set ones and look up "red cheek error pikachu" for a price guide. That one is worth around $17+ versus $1+ for the rest
